"Aug..." I groan, reaching my hand toward the roof while my head lays on the damp cold stone floor. "Where did...", I mumbled before turning my palm to myself.
"And where did this come from?" Holding my wrist out in front of me, I sit up. On my wrist seems to be a bracelet or cuff of some kind. It feels... tight. I grasp the cuff, however, even with all my effort, I'm unable to rip it off my arm.
"Damn it..." I exclaim before suddenly the screen on the cuff seemingly powered on; The light briefly blinding me.
"What the-" On the screen, a fading line rotated in a circle, however, after a moment it flashed away and the screen changed. Now, several icons appeared, each with unique symbols on them.
"Well... Isn't that nice...", I exclaimed sarcastically before pushing myself to stand. With a quick glance around the room, I noticed I didn't recognize where I was. The mossy dark grey stone walls, the green engravings of symbols marked everywhere, and the alien plants that align the room made this quite easy to tell.
"Where the fuck am I!?", I yelled, spinning around. Though, I stop after a moment with a quick sigh of discontent before walking around to find any clues of where I am.
"Huh?", I see something beside what looks to be a stone door covered in moss and vines. Getting closer, I can see it clearer than before, "A... Button?" It looks out of place here being the only thing that seems to be made of metal and plastic. Though, it still seems to be covered in grime and vines.
Curious and a bit confused with my situation, I press the button. "Creeeek", suddenly the stone door starts to open. I can even see the moss rip off the door as it reaches its peak.
I look out into the open door seeing a long hallway with lit lanterns on the wall. "Woah..." However, as I stepped into the hallway I noticed that there was a trail of... Red... As if something was dragged away from here. "Oh....."
Walking forward into unknown territory, I looked back at the door as it quickly closed. "Shit!" I ran to the door, looking around it finding a button similar to the one inside the room, but with fewer vines but now a new red handprint.
"-Gross....", I slowly backed up from the button. Then, I continued forward into the lantern-lit hallway.
As I watch the walls, I notice It seems there is no engraving of those symbols that were back in the room. I also begin to notice the candles in the lanterns are about as high as a child's thumb. The flame flickers as I continue walking.
However, I looked down beside the continued trail of red. There looks to be a simple dagger left here. "Huh, maybe it'll come in handy?" I thought before picking up the dagger. "After all, I would probably need this if I see whatever made this trail of... Blood..."
"Actually... What's this on here?", I wiped my finger on the blade. The blade is covered in this crusty dark green substance. When I wiped my finger on it, nothing came off it. "Huh... Whatever..."
I hold the dagger to my side deciding just to continue forward. Though, forward meant following the blood trail into the unknown. At the thought, I simply took a deep breath and pressed on.
.
.
.
After a while, suddenly I heard the sound of something... eating? It sounds like someone eating a watermelon or something else juicy. I crouched and hid along the wall before continuing further.
Then as I approached whatever was making that disgusting sound, I instinctively hid behind the door to the room. The door was open to where I could see inside the room but large enough that I could hide along the wall without it seeing me.
I could feel my head lighten as I covered my mouth. I gulp down my puke whilst that sight lingers in the front of my mind. My heart heavies as my throat feels sour. I saw that thing... It looks like a giant spider... It had a person in its jaw... "Sqaunch", I trembled at the sound.
I gulp before placing my hand on my heart and steadying my breathing. Though, I still hear the constant noises of the spider...
With a final deep breath, I reluctantly looked back at it. Though I quickly hid again, "There's no fucking way I can get past that thing!", I thought.
Then suddenly a beep came from my wrist. I quickly looked at the cuff with horror as the cuff spoke in a robotic voice, "Caution, Subject is under stress."
"Eep?", An eerie squeak followed by silence came from the room.
"Shit!", I thought before looking back at the spider creature. Mine and its eyes met, though only mine was in utter fear.
The Spider dropped the half-eaten person on the ground with a splat. Then it stood up on its eight legs and wiped the blood off its fangs. I stood frozen as I watched it snarl in my direction.
Though, as the spider then began running in my direction my body moved on its own, running into the room. As I ran through the large room, my heart pounded in my chest. Quickly, I scanned the area for any possible place I could hide but found none.
The spider's heavy footsteps echoed behind me as it closed in. In a split-second decision, I darted behind a pillar to maybe juke the monster. However, just as the spider was leaving me, the cuff spoke again, "Subject continues to feel an immense level of stress, injecting AA serum."
Suddenly I felt a needle piercing my wrist. "Ah!", I shouted in pain before feeling my veins burning. However, I couldn't pause for the pain as I looked behind me and the spider turned towards me. It snarled, its eyes locked on me.
"I can't keep... Running...", I said with my voice trembling and my breath stuttering.
My grasp on the dagger tightened as I lifted it to the spider. I gulp, my breath still shallow, "Come... at me... you... m-...motherfucker!", I shouted.
"Grrrrawe....", the spider growled before leaping fangs first toward me.
With a sharp breath, I sidestepped, barely dodging the monster. I plugged the dagger into the body of the spider and put all my strength into ripping it open, dark green liquid spewing from the wound. However before I could do a massive amount of damage, two of the monster's legs pushed me and pinned me to the ground. "Ah!", I yelped.
Pinned under the spider's legs, I struggled to keep my grip on the dagger. And a bit of green liquid fell into my mouth. "Aug!", Disgusted I spat at the monster, watching the green liquid ooze from the creature's wound, mixing with the red blood on the floor. The spider turned and snarled at me, its fangs dripped with saliva, and its many eyes seemed to gleam with malice.
"Heh...heh...", with an exhausted laugh, I slashed at the leg pinning me. The spider screeched in pain, its grip loosening just enough for me to wriggle free. I scrambled to my feet, my heart pounding in my ears. I placed my free hand on my wounds as I watched the spider squirm.
"Come on!...huh... You ugly bastard!" I shouted, my voice and breathing shakey. Though, it was more to keep my own courage up than anything else.
The spider hissed and lunged at me again. I barely managed to dodge its fangs. I swung the dagger, aiming for its eyes, but the creature was fast... too fast. It dodged my attack and came at me from the side, one of its legs striking my shoulder and sending me sprawling to the ground.
"Ack!", Pain flared through my shoulder, but I forced myself to get up. I couldn't let it end like this. Not here, not now... I took a quick shallow breath before the spider was upon me again, its fangs snapping just inches from my face.
I rolled to the side, the dagger slipping from my grasp and clattering across the stone floor. "F....fuck!", I yelled.
I looked up as the spider ran at me again, I desperately lunged for the dagger, scooping it up and turning to face the creature.
I swallow, my mouth now tasting like acid and iron. With a few sharp breaths, I bolted forward. The dagger sliced through the spider's legs, ichor spraying with each strike. The creature screeched in pain, but I didn't stop. I kept attacking, fueled by both terror and adrenaline.
Finally, with one last, powerful thrust, I drove the dagger through the side of the spider's head. The creature twitched, its legs curling in on themselves, and then it went still.
Panting, I pulled the dagger free and stumbled back, staring at the dead spider in disbelief. I did it. I actually did it. "Ah...", I smiled, "y-yes...", I mumbled, my voice and breath still shaky.
I looked at myself, "Ugh... I'm covered in blood... Ewwwww...." I chuckle sarcastically.
I take a deep breath, steadying myself. "I guess now I understand what the blood trail was...", I sigh, "Whatever... I should find a way to get out of this hell hole..."
Surveying the room, I see that there are several closed doors on each side of the room. Also, there seems to be a desk and bookshelves covered in paper, folders, and spiderwebs. "Hmm?", I walk over, a bit curious, to the desk.
On the desk are several documents, though, I'm not much of a reader so I just picked the first one up that I saw.
I start to read it out loud, "Note 37 of the seventh dawn - Today, has marked a week since we arrived on this planet. And thank The Angel, we've finally found the hidden ancient tomb.
However, while we searched for the center, the heart of the tomb, we began hearing strange things; Like scurrying in the walls and distant snarls.
We should soon begin the ritual, though, we are afraid of the guardian of the tomb. Thankfully, it has not shown itself to us. However, I am worried.
I hope The Angel arrives before the guardian shows itself."
I scan the paper up and down, getting bloody fingerprints all over the paper, "huh... That's
... Interesting?"
I placed the paper back down on the desk and looked back at the spider. "I hope that was the guardian... I don't want to fight anything bigger than that!" Shivers fall down my spine at the thought.
"I am curious though," I look back at the paper lying on the desk, "Who is this 'Angel' they mentioned?"
"..." I sigh and walk over to the half-eaten body, "I bet you could've answered my question..." I say, my voice soft and sad.
"Welp!", I stand up, "I should probably find a way out of here..." I look around, my gaze landing on an open door up ahead, "I might as well keep heading forward..."
I began walking over to the door in the middle of the center wall. The door is wide open with lanterns flickering down the corridor.
