The Mysterious Pokémon

The episode starts with the gang, with Leaf, walking on the streets of Viridian City.

"Our heroes have arrived at the one and only Viridian City, where the last Gym is for Jessie and Leaf trying to win their eighth and final required badge to enter the Kanto Pokémon League Tournament!"

Jessie is looking around in Viridian City with delight. "Wow! It's been such a long time since we stepped foot in this city! Electabuzz was still an adorable little Elekid and I only had two Pokémon!"

Leaf scoffs. "Two? I had four Pokémon when I first arrived here."

Jessie gives Leaf a side-eye. "Yeah. Yeah. Whatever."

The gang and Leaf pass the Pokémon Center where the building is completely rebuilt and running again.

"I see the Pokémon Center is back and running! That's so awesome!" Domino said with a delightful smile.

Jessie nods in agreement. "That was a scary situation for the both of us, Domino."

"Oh yeah! I heard on the news back in Pewter City that the Viridian City Pokémon Center exploded. You two were there?"

"Basically." Jessie and Domino both said.

"I was unconscious!" Meowth added.

"Wow. My experience there was that I walked into Viridian City, realized there was no Gym, and then headed to the Viridian Forest." Leaf stated.

"Speaking of the Viridian Gym," Jessie says as she looks forward and spots the Viridian Gym nearby. There were two guards at the entrance. "There it is! Viridian Gym! I just need one more badge and I can finally compete in the League Tournament!"

"Um hello, I need one badge as well, which is why to prevent you from getting ahead of me, I'll be the first one to challenge the Gym Leader!" Leaf grins and starts sprinting to the Gym.

"Oh no you don't!" Jessie sprints to Leaf and manages to tackle her to stop her. "You're not going to battle the Gym Leader first, I am!"

"In your dreams, mama's girl!" Leaf fired back.

Both Jessie and Leaf continued to argue on the ground with Jessie still having a hold on Leaf from being on top of her. James and Domino looked at each other.

"We need to separate them," Domino says.

James nods in agreement. "Yeah!"

James and Domino immediately rush towards the two to grab each of them.

The title screen shows.

"The Mysterious Pokémon."

James and Domino pull the two back up on their feet and hold them back too. James was holding back Jessie and Domino was holding back Leaf.

Meowth frowns. "Aww, I was enjoying that catfight!"

"Guys, arguing isn't going to go anywhere!" James says.

Domino nods. "Yeah! You both have to think of something to decide who challenges the Gym Leader first!"

"Okay! Okay! Let us go, I thought of a way to settle it!" Jessie demanded.

Domino and James follow Jessie's order and let the two go as Jessie and Leaf stare down.

"I found a way that we both can settle this and that's a game of rock paper scissors! One game, the winner gets to challenge the Gym Leader first!" Jessie suggested.

Leaf thinks for a little bit before nodding. "I'll accept your little game!"

Both Jessie and Leaf make a fist as they begin to move it up and down. "Rock paper scissors, shoot!" After both say the phrase, Jessie and Leaf choose an option, Jessie ends up choosing scissors, but Leaf ends up choosing rock, beating her.

Leaf smirks. "Haha! I win, Jessie! That means I'm battling the Gym Leader first!"

Domino shrugs. "The rules are the rules, sorry Jessie."

Jessie gets a dark cloud above her head and looks down. "I can't believe I ended up losing the chance to get in front of you."

"Maybe get better at rock paper scissors?" Leaf teased with a chuckle. "Well, I'm off to face the Gym Leader!" She heads to the entrance and the two guards of the Gym stepped aside to let Leaf in as she went inside.

Jessie's dark cloud goes away as soon as she looks away. "Come on, I want to get a look at who this Gym Leader is. Let's go inside too." Jessie attempts to follow Leaf inside as she heads to the entrance.

However, the two guards of the Gym block Jessie from entering. "Only one trainer is allowed in the Gym, kid!" "So beat it and come back when the other challenger is done with their battle!"

"You have to let me in there now!" Jessie demanded.

"Those are the rules! Deal with it!" Both guards replied to her.

Jessie backs away from her friends with her teeth gritted in frustration. "Great, now what?!"

Meowth's stomach growls. "I hate to break up your little frustration, but I'm hungry here!"

"You know, we haven't eaten in days. Let's go and enjoy some of Viridian City's delicious food while Leaf is challenging the Gym Leader!" Domino suggested.

James nods. "Once Leaf is done with her battle, we can come back!"

Jessie shakes her head no. "I'm staying right here and waiting for Leaf to come out!" But then her stomach now growls as she embarrassingly holds her stomach with a blush. "Okay… change of plans, hehe." Jessie giggles.

As soon as Jessie and her friends leave the Viridian Gym area to get something to eat, it cuts to the Team Rocket trio spying on the gang as always with binoculars on top of a building.

"That twerpette wants to challenge the boss?!" Cassidy exclaimed.

"Yeah, she's going to get her ass kicked big time." Butch assumed.

Mondo nods in agreement with Butch's assumption. "I heard a bunch of trainers had challenged the boss before, but they all have left the Gym with no new badge in their case but with badly hurt Pokémon! No one has ever beaten the boss before in a Pokémon battle."

A lightbulb appears on the top of Cassidy's head, signaling that she has an idea. "I have an idea! Before that twerpette challenges the boss, we will simply ask Giovanni if he wants to take a little break from being Gym Leader, then we will be the ones on the battlefield, and this time we will finally steal that talking Meowth with a plan!"

Butch looks at Cassidy with an unimpressive expression. "You want to go with this running a Gym idea again? Do you know how that worked out last time on Cinnabar Island, Cass?"

Mondo shakes his head in disapproval. "I can answer that question, not good!"

"But that was a fake Gym!" Cassidy replied. "Just think about running a legit Pokémon League-accepted Gym! Just think about the reputation we will have when the rest of Team Rocket finds out that the boss let us three-run his Gym! I know Attila and Hun would be extremely jealous of us!"

Butch thinks for a moment. "I do like getting a good reputation, so I can get all of the smoking hot Team Rocket chicks! And I also want to rub something in the face of Attila and Hun!"

"And if we three can run this Gym, this will be a huge step for me to become a top agent in Team Rocket!" Mondo added with a smile.

"We're in!" Both Butch and Mondo said with excited looks on their faces.

Cassidy evilly rubs her hands together with a grin. "Excellent!"

It cuts inside the Viridian City Gym, where Leaf walks inside the battlefield with a confident look on her face. "I have come to challenge whoever is the Gym Leader of this Gym! Come out and face me!"

A few seconds have passed and Giovanni slowly reveals himself to Leaf, walking to the other side of the battlefield from where Leaf is standing. "So… you want to challenge me, huh?"

"That's right!" Leaf then introduces herself to the Gym Leader. "I'm Leaf from Pallet Town and I came here to challenge you to earn my eighth and final requirement badge to enter the Pokémon League Tournament!"

Giovanni smirks. "You're just like the rest of my victims. So confident yet you don't know the true power of my strength. I'll give you a chance to turn around and leave before you get badly destroyed."

Leaf clutches her fist, gritting her teeth in frustration. "I'm not leaving this Gym without a badge!"

"Very well, I accept your challenge. This will be a three-on-three battle and no substitutions only for the Gym Leader. Do you agree with those rules?" Giovanni asked.

Leaf nods in agreement. "I do!"

"Then this Gym Battle is underway!" Giovanni pulls out a Poké Ball. "Nidoqueen, I choose you!" Giovanni sends out Nidoqueen for his first Pokémon to battle.

Nidoqueen materializes into battle and roars out loud.

"Nidoqueen, huh? Poison and ground type, which makes my first Pokémon the obvious choice!" Leaf pulls out a Poké Ball. "Lapras, you're up first!" She sends in Lapras to start off the Gym Battle.

Lapras materializes. "La!"

Giovanni commands the first move of the Gym battle. "Nidoqueen, Double Kick!"

Nidoqueen roars and dashes at Lapras kicks the transportation Pokémon two times hard and then jumps back to its trainer side of the battlefield.

"LA!" Lapras cries in pain from taking damage from a super effective move, it goes down to the ground of the battlefield until it slowly gets back up, looking hurt.

Leaf's eyes widened. "That Double Kick must've done some serious damage. Lapras almost already looks like it's gonna faint! Quick Lapras, use Ice Beam!"

"La!" Lapras opens its mouth and a light blue ball of energy forms in front of Lapras' mouth, and light blue beams of energy shoot out of it at Nidoqueen.

Nidoqueen roars in pain and gets completely frozen once getting hit by the Ice Beam.

"Yes! Nidoqueen froze! Quick Lapras, now use Hydro Pump!" Leaf commanded next.

Lapras opens its mouth once more and releases a huge amount of water right at the frozen and completely floods Nidoqueen with tons of water. Once the water retreats, the water of the Hydro Pump melts the ice off of Nidoqueen but has fainted in battle.

One of the guards declares the round. "Nidoqueen is unable to battle, Lapras is the winner."

Leaf smiles. "And that's one round for Leaf!"

"Hmm, I see you have definitely earned your spot here. Nidoqueen, return." Giovanni recalls Nidoqueen and pulls out a different Poké Ball. "Rhydon, I choose you!" Giovanni sends out his next Pokémon, Rhydon, into battle.

Rhydon materializes and roars into battle.

Leaf starts thinking inside her mind. "Okay, Lapras is close to fainting from that powerful Double Kick, I got to switch Pokémon." She then announces out loud. "Lapras, return!" Leaf recalls Lapras and pulls out a different Poké Ball. "Venusaur, it's your turn to go now!" She sends her Venusaur into battle.

Venusaur materializes. "Venusaur!"

"Rhydon, use Horn Drill!" Giovanni ordered.

"Watch out Venusaur, that's a one-hit move, dodge it quickly!" Leaf quickly counters.

Rhydon's horn starts spinning like a drill and dashes at Venusaur, but the seed Pokémon manages to dodge it just in time.

"Razor Leaf!" Leaf commanded.

"Venusaur!" Venusaur quickly throws razor-sharp leaves right at Rhydon, hitting the drill Pokémon with leaf after leaf.

Rhydon roars in pain from taking so much damage before falling to the ground, fainting from the battle.

One of the guards declares the round once more. "Rhydon is unable to battle, Venusaur is the winner!"

Even down by two rounds, Giovanni continued grinning. "Rhydon, return!" He recalls Rhydon back in its Poké Ball.

"Why are you still grinning?" Leaf questioned Giovanni's continuous grin. "You're down to your last Pokémon while I still have all of my three Pokémon! This battle is over already!"

"Such a confident little girl are you?" Giovanni snickers. "I still have one Pokémon left and I think this Pokémon can turn this battle around!"

"Whatever Pokémon you bring out, I'll destroy it!" Leaf confidently says.

Giovanni has the evilest grin on his face. "If you say so." Giovanni snaps his fingers.

As soon Giovanni snaps his fingers, a secret door of the Gym begins to slowly open. The door fully rises to reveal a creature with cybernetic armor all around its purplish body and a color around its neck. This creature started slowly walking to the battlefield and stood there right on Giovanni's end of the battlefield.

"What is that?!" Leaf immediately pulls out her Pokédex to aim it at the creature.

However, Leaf's Pokédex couldn't identify this mysterious Pokémon. "Pokémon cannot be identified."

"What?!" Leaf exclaimed in shock. "What do you mean you can't identify it?!"

"My most powerful creature… take care of this little confident brat of a trainer and their Pokémon!" Giovanni snaps his fingers once more and points at Leaf and her Venusaur at the other end of the battlefield.

The creature begins to glow blue and its eyes light up under its helmet. All of a sudden, Venusaur begins to be lifted and levitating in midair.

"VENUSAUR?!" Venusaur cries out from being scared that they're levitating, then they flung back and hit a wall, automatically fainting in battle.

"OH SHIT!" Leaf immediately recalls Venusaur back in its Poké Ball and then turns her attention towards the mysterious Pokémon. "Did that Pokémon do that?"

"I told you, only one Pokémon can turn a battle around," Giovanni said, still grinning. "Go ahead, use your last two Pokémon at the same time if you think you can destroy my powerful beast!"

Leaf grits her teeth, shedding a sweat. She pulls out two Pokémon from her handbag. "Lapras and Machamp, both of you take care of that Pokémon!" Leaf sends out both her Lapras and Machamp into battle against that mysterious Pokémon.

Both Lapras and Machamp materialize. "La!" "Machamp!"

Leaf immediately commands both of her Pokémon. "Lapras, freeze it with Ice Beam! As for you Machamp, use Submission!"

Machoke starts dashing while curled up in a ball at the unknown creature and Lapras opens its mouth, a light blue ball of energy forms appearing in front of Lapras' mouth, and sends it directly at the creature. However, the mysterious Pokémon somehow manages to stop the Ice Beam mid-air and sends it at the rolling Machoke, freezing it.

Leaf gasps at what she just experienced. "N-no way, it can't be!"

The unknown creature then proceeds to make the now big ice ball of Machoke levitate in the air.

"Now you see the true power of my Pokémon! No one will be able to beat it!" Giovanni says with a grin.

Lapras starts shaking from being scared out of its mind. "L-La."

Giovanni slowly snaps his fingers as the mysterious Pokémon's eyes glow from the helmet and then it sends the ice ball Machoke directly at both Lapras and Leaf.

"AH, NO-" Leaf lets out a yelp before it cuts outside of Viridian City where the gang is.

The gang is near a restaurant where they're currently sitting at a table and eating some food, except for Domino, who's just keeping her blue Pokémon Egg warm by rubbing the shell with the napkins that they were provided.

"Are you gonna eat any food, Domino?" James asked.

"Yeah! Come on, the steak is delicious!" Jessie says, continuing to eat her steak.

"It's fine guys, I'm not hungry. Besides, I'm busy taking care of my baby here." Domino continues rubbing her Pokémon Egg with a napkin. "You're going to be a strong Pokémon, are you?"

"I heard taking care of a child is such a pain. That's what my parents always said when they had me." James continues eating his food like normal, not realizing his friends are weirdly looking at him, until now. "What?"

Domino gulps. "I-is it true? Is being a parent such a pain?"

"Domino, my mom said she loved taking care of me when I was a child." Jessie comforts Domino with a smile. "I think you're going to be a great mom."

Domino calms down a little and smiles back at Jessie. "Thanks, Jessie." She turns to Meowth. "What about you, Meowth."

"My parents abandoned me when I was a kitten, so don't even ask about my parents." Meowth continues eating his Pokémon food.

Domino's eyes widened at Meowth's response. "Oh… sorry."

Jessie finishes her steak as she stands up. "I think Leaf is finished with her Gym Battle at this point. Shall we head back to where the Viridian Gym is?"

"Yeah!" Meowth immediately hops onto Jessie's shoulder. "I haven't been in a Gym Battle since forever. You better put me in this time, Jess!"

Jessie chuckles and pets her Meowth. "Okay! Okay! I will!"

Both James and Domino also get up as James places the money on the table to pay for everyone's food. "You all owe me for this food by the way," James says.

Jessie immediately dodges what James said. "Oh wow, we better get to that Gym before it closes!" She sprints off with her Meowth still on her shoulder.

"Hey wait for me!" Domino immediately follows Jessie.

James groans. "Of course…" he follows where Jessie and Domino went.

The scene shows the roof of the building where Cassidy, Butch, and Mondo are at. They look at each other, expressing evil grins. It cuts to where Giovanni's secret office is in the Viridian Gym building as he is seen minding his own business until he hears the door to his office open and a Team Rocket Grunt is there.

"Sir, I hate to intervene while on your break, but Cassidy, Butch, and Mondo are here and they want to see you." The grunt informs the boss.

Giovanni has an annoyed expression on his face. "What do those three want now? Send them in!"

The grunt bows. "Yes, sir!" They leave to inform the Team Rocket trio.

A couple of seconds passed and the door opened as the Team Rocket trio walked into Giovanni's office.

"Hello, Giovanni, sir!" The trio greeted their boss as they bowed.

"Cut to the chase, I got a Gym to run!" Giovanni demanded.

"Well, sir, that's what we three want to talk about with you," Cassidy stated.

"It must be pretty tiring running that Gym huh? Tired of destroying challengers left and right?" Butch says.

"I would too if I were in your shoes," Mondo added.

Giovanni thinks for a little bit. "It does get a little boring when no one can outmatch my skills as a Gym Leader."

"Exactly, sir!" Cassidy nodded. "So we have a compromise for you if you're willing to agree."

Butch continues. "Let us three-run the Gym for you a little bit so that you can have the rest of the day off!"

Mondo also continues. "We will dominate every single challenger that comes through those doors. You can count on us, boss!"

"So what do you say, Giovanni, sir?" Cassidy asked.

Giovanni scoffs. "Do you three idiots believe I would let you run this Gym, even for one second?"

Cassidy, Butch, and Mondo all look at each other with their eyes widened before all responding. "Yes?"

Giovanni continues. "This Gym has a reputation and that is no one has ever walked out of this Gym with an Earth Badge and I am planning on keeping it that way. I can't have you three ruin this Gym's reputation! Another reason why, I heard about your guy's fake Gym plan back at Cinnabar Island, which ended in a total disaster, so you three can forget! Now get out of my office for wasting my time!"

The Team Rocket trio all expressed sadness before turning around and leaving their boss' office.

"Now what, Cassidy?" Mondo asked.

"If the boss won't take the rest of the day off, then we will!" Cassidy replied.

Butch smirks. "I like the sound of that!"

Mondo pumps his fist up in the air. "Hooray for a day off!"

It cuts to where the gang is, walking on the streets of Viridian City, heading in the direction of the Viridian Gym.

"You think Leaf managed to beat the Gym Leader and won the badge?" Jessie asked.

James shrugs. "I mean, Leaf is a strong trainer, she might have, but I guess we will find out when we see her again."

Meowth spots Leaf, next to the bottom stairs of the Viridian Gym, unconscious on the ground with her Pokémon, Lapras, and Machamp, also unconscious on the ground. with her. "Like right now?" He points out.

Jessie immediately sees Leaf unconscious and gasps. "LEAF?!" She immediately sprints towards her unconscious body and kneels to slightly pick her up.

Domino looks at the unconscious Lapras and Machamp. "Wh-what happened to Leaf and her Pokémon?"

Leaf slowly opens her eyes, becoming conscious again, and sees Jessie looking at her while holding her. "J-Jessie?"

Jessie sighs in relief. "Thank goodness you're okay, Leaf! What happened?"

Leaf starts explaining to Jessie. "Just when I thought I had that Viridian Gym Leader beat, he had a very powerful Pokémon up his sleeve. My Pokédex couldn't even identify it. That mysterious Pokémon completely wiped the rest of my team, especially sending my Machamp directly toward me and my Lapras to knock me and my Pokémon out. That's how we ended up unconscious!"

Jessie stares right at the doors of the Gym before looking at her friends. "Domino, James, you both take Leaf to the hospital…"

"Wh-what are you going to do?" Domino asked.

"I'm going in and to confront this Gym Leader myself," Jessie answered. "Besides, only one trainer can enter anyway. So I want you both to take Leaf to the hospital to make sure she's okay."

James nods. "Will do, Jess."

Leaf looks up at her rival. "Jessie, I need to tell you something."

Jessie looks down at Leaf in her arms. "Was it, Leaf?"

"Good luck against that Gym Leader… you're going to need it," Leaf says before Domino and James start helping her to the hospital.

Jessie is now alone with her Meowth and is looking at Viridian Gym. "Are you ready, Meowth?"

Meowth looks at his trainer and nods. "I'm ready for this, Jessie!"

Jessie nods back at her Pokémon as she steps up toward the entrance. Jessie stares down the two guards, who step aside to let Jessie in as she enters the Viridian Gym with her Meowth.

Jessie begins to think while making her way to the battlefield. "I don't get it."

"Get what, Jess?" Meowth asked.

Jessie tells Meowth what is on her mind. "Every single other Gym that we went to, more than one Pokémon trainer was allowed to enter at the same time, so why not this specific Gym in general?"

Meowth shrugs. "Beats me. Maybe whoever the Gym Leader is would hate others to see him lose because they're a little sore loser." He chuckles.

Jessie chuckles along with her Pokémon. "Good one!" Soon, she arrives on the battlefield and looks around. "Whoever is the Leader of this Gym, I have come to challenge you to a Pokémon battle!"

A few seconds pass and Giovanni slowly reveals himself to Jessie from the shadows at the other end of the battlefield. "So, you're my next challenger?"

Jessie nods and clutches her fist. "Right! My name's Jessie from Pallet Town and I'm here to challenge you!"

Meowth decides to speak to Giovanni, revealing to him that he can talk. "Yeah! Let's just say, we're going to beat you!"

Giovanni's eyes widened once he saw that Jessie's Meowth could talk and started speaking inside his mind to express his shock. "A talking Meowth?! Wait a minute… is this the trainer with the talking Meowth that Cassidy, Butch, and Mondo keep telling me about and foiling their plans?!"

From Jessie's perspective, Giovanni is just staring at her and not saying a word at all. She looks around awkwardly. "So… are we going to battle or not?"

Giovanni snaps out of talking in his mind. "Right! My name is Giovanni and I shall accept your challenge under the Pokémon League rules. I heard so much about you, girl, you're a special one, which is why I propose a six-on-six full battle and only the challenger can make substitutions. Do you accept these rules?" He grins.

Jessie's eyes widened and she looked down, talking quietly. "I-I'm special? A six-on-six full battle? I have never been in a full battle before… but this is my chance to show how much of a great Pokémon trainer I have become!" She looks back up to face Giovanni. "I accept your rules!"

"Very well." Giovanni pulls out a Poké Ball. "Then let's get this battle on the way! Golem, I choose you!" The Viridian Gym Leader starts off the battle with Golem.

Golem materializes. "Golem!"

Jessie pulls out a Safari Ball. "Then I'll start with Scizor!" She sends Scizor into battle.

Scizor materializes. "Scizor!"

"Golem, Rollout attack!" Giovanni commanded.

"Golem!" Golem curls up into a ball and starts rolling towards Scizor.

"Scizor, dodge it by flying in the air and using Metal Claw!" Jessie countered.

"Scizor!" Scizor quickly flies up in the air to dodge Golem's Rollout. Then its claw glows metallic and strikes Golem with it. Flinging the Pokémon back to the other side of the battlefield and fainting.

"Golem is unable to battle, Scizor is the winner!" One of the guards declared.

"Wow, quite impressive, girl." Giovanni chuckles, recalls Golem, and pulls out a different Poké Ball. "Go Rhydon!" He sends out his next Pokémon, Rhydon, into battle.

Rhydon materializes and roars.

Jessie decides to make a substitute. "Scizor, return!" She puts the Safari Ball away and then pulls out a different Poké Ball. "Blastoise, it's your turn!"

Blastoise materializes. "Blastoise!"

Jessie commands the first move of this round. "Blastoise, use Skull Bash!"

"Blastoise!" Blastoise starts dashing toward Rhydon while leaning its head to the drill Pokémon.

"Rhydon, grab Blastoise while it's dashing towards you, quick!" Giovanni quickly countered.

Rhydon roars and manages to catch Blastoise before the shellfish can do any damage with its Skull Bash. With incredible strength, Rhydon throws Blastoise in the air.

Giovanni grins. "Excellent, now get ready to use Horn Drill!"

Rhydon was staring at Blastoise while the shellfish Pokémon was in the air and the drill Pokémon began spinning its horn just like a drill.

Jessie sweats a tear. "Blastoise, withdraw into your shell quickly!"

While Blastoise was in the air, the shellfish Pokémon quickly withdrew into its shell and it started coming down on Rhydon. Rhydon was afraid until it got crushed by Blastoise. The shellfish Pokémon withdrew out of its shell and got off of Rhydon, revealing that drill Pokémon had fainted from being crushed.

One of the guards declares the battle. "Rhydon is unable to battle, Blastoise is the winner."

Giovanni showed no expression except for a grin. "I'm actually impressed. Somehow you turn the move Withdraw into a damaging move, that takes skill as a trainer." He recalls Rhydon back in its Poké Ball.

Jessie is looking at Giovanni's grin and starts talking in her mind. "I don't get it… I'm up two rounds and he is still smiling." She starts to recall Blastoise. "Blastoise, return!"

"Oh I see what you're doing, you're trying to get me to send out my Pokémon first so that you know which Pokémon to match up against. Well I won't be sending my next Pokémon out first, you will be doing that or I can happily wait all the time I need!" Giovanni crosses his arms and continues grinning.

Jessie grits her teeth. "You want me to send out my next Pokémon first? Fine!" She pulls out the Poké Ball of her next Pokémon. "Gengar, I choose you!"

Gengar materializes. "Gengar!"

"A Gengar, huh? Well, this will be my next choice!" Giovanni pulls out his next Pokémon's Poké Ball. "Kangaskhan, go!"

Kangaskhan materializes. "Kanga!"

Jessie starts speaking in her mind. "A Kangaskhan? Which means I can't use any ghost-type attacks by its normal typing."

Giovanni commands the first move of the battle. "Mega Punch!"

"Kanga!" Kangaskhan tries to punch Gengar with muscle-packed power, but Kangaskhan's fist goes through Gengar. "Kanga?"

Jessie looks extremely confused. "You do know that normal-type moves don't have any effect on ghost-type Pokémon like Gengar, right?"

Giovanni shrugs. "Oh silly me, I guess I must've forgotten."

Jessie raises an eyebrow in confusion and begins speaking in her mind. "I don't get it. This is the Gym Leader every Pokémon trainer fears about? This is the Gym Leader that beat Leaf?" She then commands her to move out loud. "Alright Gengar, Seismic Toss!"

"Gengar!" Gengar picks up Kangaskhan and throws the Pokémon up at the ceiling above, Kangaskhan hits the ceiling before dropping back down to the battlefield and faints from the battle.

"Kangaskhan is unable to battle, Gengar is the winner!" One of the guards declared.

Both Jessie and Giovanni recall their Pokémon. "Kangaskhan, return!" "Gengar, return!"

Giovanni pulls out this next Poké Ball. "Nidoqueen, you're up!"

Nidoqueen materializes on the battlefield and roars.

Jessie already has her Poké Ball out, getting ready to send out her next Pokémon. "Rapidash, you're up next to battle!"

Rapidash materializes on the battlefield. "Neigh!"

Giovanni commands the first move of the round. "Nidoqueen, use Body Slam!"

Nidoqueen roars grabs Rapidash, jumps up in the air, and is about to slam the fire horse Pokémon right on the ground.

"Rapidash, use your Agility to dodge!" Jessie countered.

And just like that, Rapidash disappears from Nidoqueen's grip, causing Nidoqueen to look down at the ground and worry, falling and hitting it, taking damage. Nidoqueen gets up, still able to battle.

"Nidoqueen, Double Kick!" Giovanni commands.

Nidoqueen roars before dashing at Rapidash and kicks the fire horse Pokémon twice, sending Rapidash to the ground, but the Pokémon slowly gets up.

"Rapidash, use Take Down and give it a good one!" Jessie commanded.

"Neigh!" Rapidash dashes at Nidoqueen with its extreme speed and slams into the drill Pokémon. Nidoqueen falls to the ground and doesn't get up, officially fainting in the battle.

"Nidoqueen is unable to battle, Rapidash is the winner!" One of the guards declared.

Both Giovanni and Jessie recall both of their Pokémon. "Nidoqueen, return!" "Rapidash, return!" Giovanni soon pulls out a different Poké Ball, still having that grin on his face. "Dugtrio, you're up next!"

Dugtrio materializes on the battlefield. "Trio! Trio! Trio!"

Jessie looks at her Meowth, thinking about sending them next. "Ready, Meowth?"

Meowth nods. "Ready, Jess!" He jumps onto the battlefield, sharpening his claws to prepare against Dugtrio. "You're going down, three heads!"

Giovanni begins talking inside his mind. "Ah yes, that lovely talking Meowth. If I can just get my hands on it, I will be the richest person in the world!" He once more grins.

Jessie grits her teeth at Giovanni's grin. "I don't get it… he's still smiling?" She says to herself before starting off the round with the first move. "Meowth, use Fury Swipes!"

"Dugtrio, dodge it!" Giovanni countered.

"Taste my claws!" Meowth's claws glow white and try to swipe at Dugtrio, but the Pokémon quickly descend their heads down to the ground of the battlefield to dodge the move and then pop back up in a different location.

"Huh?" Meowth looks behind him and sees Dugtrio and tries to swipe it again, but Dugtrio heads underground again. "Stay still so I can swipe you!" Meowth says, frustrated.

Giovanni commands his next move. "Earthquake!"

While Dugtrio was underground, the mole Pokémon caused the whole battlefield to start shaking, causing Meowth to stumble all over the place, taking damage as it fell onto the battlefield

"Meowth, keep your balance!" Jessie ordered.

"I'm trying, Jess!" Meowth replied.

Dugtrio pops back above ground. "Trio!"

Jessie commands her next move. "Slash!"

Giovanni quickly counters with his next move. "Sand Attack!"

Meowth's claws begin to glow white, becoming sharper. Meowth tries to slash Dugtrio with his sharp claws, but Dugtrio heads underground again, missing the attack as Meowth groans in annoyance. Dugtrio starts throwing sand directly toward Meowth's face while underground.

"Hey! Watch it, pal!" Meowth says, then some of the sand gets in his eyes, and starts yelling in pain. "SAND IN MY EYES!"

Dugtrio pops back above ground. "Trio!"

"Meowth shake the sand off and use Screech!" Jessie commanded.

Meowth shakes his head to get the sand off in his eyes and hisses right at Dugtrio, causing them to shiver in fear and drop its defense down.

"Dugtrio, use Dig!" Giovanni commanded next.

"Trio!" Dugtrio heads underground on the battlefield once more.

Jessie starts to think inside her head. "I have to find a way for Meowth to even somehow land a hit even with his Dugtrio underneath the ground." She then gets a light bulb above her head and says out loud. "I got it!"

Meowth looks at his trainer with a confused look. "Got what?"

"Meowth, I need you to sharpen your claws to the max!" Jessie commanded.

"That could risk me breaking a claw, but okay!" Meowth starts sharpening his claws to the very fullest that he can go. "There!"

Jessie looks at Giovanni across the battlefield. "Your move, Giovanni!"

Giovanni scoffs. "Oh, I'll just wait till Dugtrio feels like attacking. Makes it a little surprising, doesn't it?"

Jessie grits her teeth and looks at Meowth on the battlefield, waiting for Dugtrio to attempt an attack. "I hope this works…" She says quietly.

After a few seconds, both Jessie and Meowth see the little vibration the ground made, hinting that Dugtrio is about to attack. "Now Meowth, strike your sharp claws through the ground!"

Meowth quickly sticks his claws right below him through the ground and Dugtrio pops out, still able to use Dig to send Meowth in the air, but it looks badly hurt and taking major damage after being badly scratched by Meowth's sharp claw.

Giovanni raises an eyebrow. "What's this?"

Jessie laughs in satisfaction. "That's it! Now use Fury Swipes!"

As Meowth was descending back onto the ground of the battlefield, his claws started glowing white and made sure to land right above one of Dugtrio's heads and started hammering the Pokémon with scratches.

"Trio!" Dugtrio cries out in pain before officially fainting from the battle.

"Dugtrio is unable to battle! Meowth is the winner!" One of the guards declared.

"Nice going Meowth! Now come back right next to me, I'm subbing you out." Jessie stated.

"Got it, boss!" Meowth heads off the battlefield and stands right next to Jessie.

"Hmph. Dugtrio, return!" Giovanni recalls Dugtrio back in its Poké Ball.

Jessie looks at Giovanni and crosses her arms. "I advise you to just give up now. For a Gym Leader who a trainer has never beaten before, you sure don't seem like a challenge."

"Is that so, little girl? What makes you say this Gym Battle is over?" Giovanni asked.

"Well isn't it obvious?!" Jessie replied, in disbelief a little. "All of my six Pokémon are still in play, meanwhile, you're down to your very last Pokémon! It's pretty obvious that this battle is over!"

"That's where you're wrong. I think one Pokémon can turn a whole battle around!" Giovanni grins evilly and snaps his fingers.

As Giovanni snaps his fingers, the secret door in the battlefield opens, the same mysterious Pokémon with cybernetic armor, and a color around its neck that Leaf fought earlier slowly floats onto the battlefield, looking at Jessie with blue eyes through its mask.

Giovanni introduces his last Pokémon. "Behold, my very last Pokémon for the battle!"

Jessie and Meowth both look scared from looking at this cybernetic armored Pokémon. "Wh-what Pokémon is that?" Jessie immediately pulls out her Pokédex to identify it.

However, just like with Leaf's Pokédex, Jessie's Pokédex also can't identify this mysterious Pokémon as well. "Pokémon cannot be identified."

Jessie grits her teeth. "Damn, no date at all!" She confidentially pulls out a Poké Ball. "But it doesn't matter, I'll beat whatever that thing is. Electabuzz, I choose you!"

Electabuzz materializes on the battlefield. "ELEBUBUBU!"

"My powerful beast, destroy her Pokémon!" Giovanni commanded with a point.

All of a sudden, Electabuzz starts glowing blue around it, Electabuzz starts looking around in confusion before it starts levitating. "ELEBUBU?!" Electabuzz cries in confusion. Then the mysterious beast Pokémon sends Electabuzz flying and crashing hard against a wall, immediately fainting Electabuzz from the battle.

"ELECTABUZZ!" Jessie shouts in disbelief and immediately recalls it back.

Meowth starts looking scared at this mysterious Pokémon from taking out Electabuzz in one move. "Wh-what kind of Pokémon has that kind of power?!"

Jessie starts thinking. "So with what happened to Electabuzz, this mysterious Pokémon has to be a psychic type!" She immediately knows what Pokémon to use next and pulls out a Poké Ball. "Gengar, you're up!"

Gengar materializes. "Gengar!"

Jessie immediately commands the next move. "Use Shadow Ball, Gengar!"

Gengar's hands spark with blue electricity. It then puts its hands together, forms a black ball of energy, and shoots right at the mysterious Pokémon.

Giovanni counters by just saying one word. "Barrier."

The mysterious Pokémon raises its hand and creates a purple energy barrier around itself, completely protecting itself from the Shadow Ball as the move hits the barrier, not dealing any damage as Jessie grits her teeth in frustration. A blue aura surrounds Gengar and the shadow Pokémon gets flung back and hits the wall hard just like Electabuzz did and faints from the battle.

Jessie stares in disbelief. "N-no way. Keep calm, Jessie, you still got four Pokémon left." She recalls Gengar back in its Poké Ball and pulls out a different Poké Ball. "Rapidash, you're next!"

Rapidash materializes on the battlefield. "Neigh!"

Giovanni commands the first move of the round. "Shadow Ball!"

Jessie quickly tries to counter by shouting a move back. "Fire Blast!"

Rapidash opens its mouth and shoots out flames that are the shape of the kanji right at the beast, meanwhile, the mysterious Pokémon forms a black ball of energy from only one hand and then proceeds to shoot it at Rapidash. When both moves come in contact, the Shadow Ball easily overcomes Rapidash's Fire Blast and the move hits Rapidash, causing the fire horse Pokémon to cry out in pain and faint from the battle.

Jessie's eyes widened on what she was experiencing right now from three of her Pokémon being taken out by this beast. "Wh-what is this Pokémon?" She recalls Rapidash and pulls out a different Poké Ball, calling the move while she does so. "Blastoise, withdraw into your shell to avoid any next move that beast makes!"

As soon as Blastoise materializes on the battlefield, the Pokémon withdraws into its shell.

"That's not going to work! Now my beast, crack its shell like an egg!" Giovanni commanded.

The beast's eyes start glowing blue through the cybernetic mask as Blastoise's shell starts getting surrounded by a blue aura. Then Blastoise starts levitating, as the mysterious Pokémon starts smashing Blastoise up and down with its psychic powers, cracking its shell like an egg. Blastoise slowly withdraws out of its shell and faints from the battle.

"Argh!" Jessie recalls Blastoise and pulls out a Safari Ball next, calling out the move once more as she sends her next Pokémon out. "Scizor, use Metal Claw!"

As Scizor materializes, it immediately dashes toward the mysterious Pokémon with its claws glowing metallic and claws the beast's mask, flying back towards its end of the battlefield. But it seems like the mysterious Pokémon isn't affected by it one bit.

Jessie's eyes widened in disbelief from the Metal Claw barely affecting it at all. "What?! It looked like it only tickled!"

"Congratulations, you managed to land a hit on my powerful beast. Shadow Ball, let's go!" Giovanni commanded.

Jessie grits her teeth and immediately shouts a counter. "Dodge it and use Fury Cutter!"

The beast forms a black ball of energy from only one hand, shooting it right at Scizor, but the pincher Pokémon manages to dodge it by flying out of the way. Then it proceeds to dash at the mysterious Pokémon, reading to slash it with all of its might, but the beast's eyes glow blue through their cybernetic mask, and Scizor stops dead in its tracks once surrounded by a blue aura. "SCIZOR?!" Scizor cries out in confusion.

"What is happening?! Why is Scizor not moving at all?!" Jessie said in disbelief.

"Your metal bug put up a good fight I would admit, but not good enough!" Giovanni snaps his fingers.

As soon as Giovanni snaps his fingers, the beast's fist starts glowing white, and then the mysterious Pokémon punches Scizor with full, concentrated power. Sending the pincher Pokémon hard to the ground and then it immediately faints.

Giovanni smirks with a chuckle. "And just like that, you had six Pokémon, I only had one and now we both have one Pokémon left."

Jessie doesn't say anything this time, she looks focused, recalling Scizor back in its Safari Ball and putting it back in her purse. She then looks down at her Meowth. "Meowth, I need you."

Meowth immediately hides behind his trainer's leg. "Against that thing?! The hell I am!"

"You're my last Pokémon and I need you right now! Please do this for me!" Jessie looks directly at Meowth with puppy eyes.

Meowth groans. "Fine!" He then proceeds to step onto the battlefield, looking directly at the beast who's staring at him back and gulping in fear. "Here goes nothing…"

Giovanni commands the next move. "Shadow Ball!"

The mysterious Pokémon forms a black ball of energy from only one hand once more, then proceeds to shoot it at Meowth.

"Dodge it, Meowth!" Jessie quickly shouts.

"Oh goodness!" Meowth quickly jumps out of the way to avoid the Shadow Ball and does so. "I did it, woo!" But Meowth celebrates too early as the Shadow Ball turns around and hits Meowth right in the back.

"I-I can't even dodge it!" Jessie said in shock and disbelief.

Meowth slowly gets back up, still able to battle. "I'm okay, Jess!"

Jessie smiles. "Awesome! Use Fury Swipes next!"

Meowth's claws glow white, jump up in the air, and start scratching endlessly right at the beast's mask with his very sharpened claws. "Take that! And that! And that!

However, the Fury Swipes were barely damaging the mysterious Pokémon, however, Meowth's endless scratching caused a little crack from the cybernetic mask that beast was wearing.

Giovanni growls in frustration, seeing the crack on the beast's cybernetic mask. "Take care of that talking Meowth, now!"

Jessie realizes that Giovanni got angry for the first time during this battle and begins talking in her mind. "Meowth must've struck a nerve because that's the first time this Giovanni guy got mad during this battle. That must be whatever this Pokémon's weakness is!"

Meowth's scratching comes to an end once surrounded by a blue aura as the mysterious Pokémon's eyes glow blue. The beast started slowly forming a black ball from its hands, but this was no ordinary Shadow Ball, it started forming a much bigger Shadow Ball than all the previous ones.

Jessie realizes what the mysterious Pokémon is doing and tries to warn Meowth. "MEOWTH, GET OUT OF THERE QUICK!"

Meowth starts squirming, trying to move but is trapped good under the mysterious Pokémon's telekinesis. "I'M TRYING, BUT I CAN'T MOVE!"

Soon, the beast forms the biggest and most powerful Shadow Ball it has ever formed and sends it directly at Meowth. As Meowth gets hit badly, what was the nailing of the coffin was Meowth getting flung back hard, hitting the wall, and creating a hole, causing more damage.

"MEOWTH!" Jessie sprints towards where Meowth crashed into the wall, reaches into the Meowth-shaped hole, and pulls her talking Pokémon out, who is knocked out cold and damaged badly.

Giovanni starts grinning right at Jessie. "Oh look, I guess I was right after all. One Pokémon turned this entire battle around and you failed to win the Earth Badge! Better luck next time, little girl!"

Jessie, holding Meowth in her arms, stares directly back at Giovanni and then at that mysterious Pokémon. "I will be back… and when I do, I will find that weakness of whatever that Pokémon is and I will beat you!" Jessie lets out an angry yell. "I PROMISE MYSELF THAT I WILL BEAT YOU!"

"I'll be waiting when you want to suffer another loss at the hands of me!" Giovanni now proceeds to speak inside his mind. "And as soon as you're back, little girl, this time that talking Meowth will be mine!"

Jessie slowly turns around and starts heading towards the exit of the Viridian Gym with Meowth in her arms, most likely heading towards the Pokémon Center.

"Whatever this Pokémon is, can any trainer stop it? Will Jessie somehow pull a miracle and beat this mysterious Pokémon Giovanni has when the next time these two trainers meet? Find out next time as the journey continues."

The final moment shows a close-up of the mystery Pokémon, the eyes of the beast once more glow blue for the final time before it slowly cuts to black, signaling the end of the episode.
