Sweet Sixteen

The episode starts with a shot of the hotel building as a bunch of crying can be heard, then it pans to the outside hallway with Jessie and Meowth standing right next to a door leading to a room, as Jessie has a frown on her face and Meowth has an annoyed expression.

Domino soon arrives with a sigh. "She's still crying, isn't she?"

Jessie sadly nods. "Yeah… I guess Annie never wanted to face her sister in the league."

Meowth scoffs. "Oh please… this is ridiculous!"

Azurill also has a frown on its face. "Azurill…"

"I wonder if Oakley is also crying as well," Jessie says as she thinks.

It cuts to the outside of the hotel where Oakley is with James. The other sister has two of her Pokémon out and training. "Vileplume, use Razor Leaf, and Golem, withdraw into a ball to shield the attack, quick!"

"Vileplume!" Vileplume throws razor-sharp leaves from its huge flower directly at Golem, who quickly withdraws into a ball as the razor-sharp leaves get deflected.

"Wow, that's some impressive training, but I thought you feel down about facing your sister?" James questioned.

Oakley shakes her head. "Nope! We were going to face each other someday in the tournament, either the top sixteen, eight, or four, it was either face each other or some random nobody beats one of us."

"I have never seen such truer words ever in my life. I see you found a Leaf Stone for your now Vileplume!" James says with a smile.

"Yep! I might've lost the Evolution Stone Tournament to you, but I battled some trainer for this Leaf Stone, and boom, I have a Vileplume now!" Oakley walks over and pets her Vileplume.

Vileplume enjoys the pets and cries out happily. "Vileplume!"

The title screen shows.

"Sweet Sixteen"

It cuts back inside the hotel where Annie is still crying in her room and Jessie, Meowth, and Domino, with her Azurill, are outside. "Come on, Annie, you should be training for your battle, not crying," Jessie says.

Domino sighs. "I'll try to cheer her up. You should go and focus on your future battle with Zayne, Jessie."

"Are you sure, Domino?" Jessie asked.

Domino nods in response. "A girl-to-girl conversation should cheer her up."

"Well if you say so!" Jessie looks at her Meowth. "Ready, Meowth?"

"If I don't have to listen to more of this whining and crying then yes!" Meowth agrees.

It cuts to Jessie and Meowth at the hotel's lobby, walking towards the exit until she spots Zayne sitting on a sofa. "Oh hey, Zayne!" Jessie greets and walks towards him.

Zayne looks to see Jessie and greets back to her. "Oh, hey Jessie! Wow, I didn't expect us to match up this early." He chuckles.

Jessie chuckles with him and rubs the back of her head. "Yeah, but you know, the matchups are randomly generated by the computer."

"Well, I just want to let you know that just because we're friends, doesn't mean I'm going to go easy on you!" Zayne smirks.

Jessie smirks back at him. "Same with me, also, the last time we battled, you might have gotten the upper hand, but I'm way more experienced now and ready for you this time."

Meowth rolls his eyes. "Says the girl who showed up to her first league battle in pajamas." He says to himself.

Zayne nods in response. "Well, I can't wait for what you will bring to the table this time. I'm looking forward to battling with you again, Jessie. No matter who wins or loses, let's continue being friends and cheering whoever is still in through the league!" He extends his hand to Jessie for a handshake.

"I couldn't say it better for myself!" Jessie accepts Zayne's handshake as she also extends her hand and the two shake their hands.

"Hooray for friendship! Can we train now?" Meowth asked, a little annoyed.

Jessie embarrassingly rubs her head. "Well, I'm going to go train now for our battle coming up!"

"I should be doing that too! Catch you later on the battlefield, Jessie!" Zayne replied.

As both Jessie and Zayne leave the hotel to train for their upcoming league battle, it cuts to where Leaf is, walking and minding her own business.

Oblivious to her is that Samantha is behind her with a smirk on her face and slowly following behind Leaf. "She looks like a potential candidate for one of the two trainers to beat Giovanni. I just have to see her badge case." Samantha starts walking faster to catch up to Leaf, she is about to talk to her until someone beats her to it.

Leaf's top sixteen matchup, Nikolaus, shows up to greet her at the exact moment Samantha is about to talk to her. "Hey Leaf! Long time no see!"

Samantha immediately drops it and walks past them like a person minding their own business as Leaf greets Nikolaus back. "Oh hey, Nikolaus! Yeah, it's been a while since we met on Cinnabar Island at that Eevee convention."

It shortly cuts to Samantha walking by with an annoyed expression on her face. "Dammit… don't worry, I can ask her some other time." She then walks out of view.

It cuts back to Leaf and Nikolaus' conversation. "I bet you didn't expect me to be here, huh?" Nikolaus said with a smirk.

Leaf nods. "Yep, I was so shocked when I saw that my next opponent in the league tournament was you!"

Nikolaus shrugs. "What can I say? Like last time, I'm full of surprises!"

"Oh yeah? I'll give you a surprise when I beat you and advance into the league tournament." Leaf smirks.

Nikolaus scoffs and crosses her arms. "Okay, you might've beaten me last time, but I got better and stronger from the last time we battled, but so has my Espeon!" Nikolaus pulls out a Poké Ball and sends out his Pokémon that is covered in fine, lilac fur with a red gem on its head.

"Espeon!" The Pokémon cries out in joy.

Nikolaus gets down on one knee to pet his Espeon. "You have gotten strong, huh?"

"You know what's also great? My Eevee is also even stronger than the last we met, so you're not the only one!" Leaf pumps her fist in the air.

Nikolaus nods in response, continuing to pet his Espeon. "Very well, then our battle shall be excellent and even better than our last one at the Eevee convention."

Leaf smiles. "Looking forward to it!"

"Although… I still wish you accepted my offer by joining me and traveling throughout the rest of Kanto with me." Nikolaus scratches his head. "It's weird because you seemed like the person who was looking for someone to join in traveling with earlier."

"Well…" Leaf closes her eyes and thinks about Jessie as she blushes. "I did think about it until I realized there was one person that I wanted to travel with for a little bit who was heading to Cinnabar Island more than any other person.

Nikolaus sees Leaf's blushing and decides to tease her. "Aww, you got a crush on this person, huh?"

Leaf immediately opens her eyes and her blush becomes more red as she yells to Nikolaus in denial. "No, I don't, we're just friends and only friends!"

Nikolaus smirks and nudges Leaf. "Sure you guys are, as of right now you two are!"

Leaf growls. "Alright, now you're giving me a great excuse to kick your ass more in our league battle!"

Nikolaus chuckles and shrugs. "So you can impress that special someone? If you kick my ass to impress them I guess you can call me your ultimate wingman!"

Leaf growls some more as her red becomes more red before walking away. "Whatever helps you sleep at night, bozo. Just be ready for your battle against me!"

"Oh, you can count on that!" Nikolaus laughs and waves goodbye before looking at his Espeon. "Are you ready to train, Espeon?"

Espeon nods. "Espeon!"

It cuts to where the Team Rocket trio is, running the hotdog stand that they built. "Are we that desperate for money to run a hotdog stand?" Butch questioned.

Cassidy answers Butch's question. "We need the money, Butch. For two reasons, one, to come up with a slam dunk plan that will finally lead us to steal that talking Meowth, and two… we need to pay our big debt that we owe to the boss…"

Mondo sighs and flips some hotdog wieners on the stove. "We're gonna be working on this hotdog stand for the rest of our lives then…"

"Fine, but I hate these stupid uniforms, seriously, was this necessary? I look like a complete fool in this!" Butch complained.

Cassidy scoffs at Butch's complaining. "Oh okay, so if we run this hotdog stand in our Team Rocket uniforms, I'm sure no one won't notice that we work for Team Rocket and call the police on us. Maybe you should start using your brain for once, Butch."

Butch growls and starts flipping his hotdogs on the stove. "At least it ain't busy around here…"

"Can I have a hotdog with just mustard and chili, please?" A customer said to Cassidy.

"Coming right up!" Cassidy replied with a smile.

Butch looks to see that a huge pack of Pokémon trainers has arrived and standing behind a line, he falls in disbelief from jinxing himself. It cuts to the hotel where Domino is standing outside of Annie and Oakley's room as the sound of Annie crying is still heard. "Annie… Can I come in please?" Domino asked.

However, Annie didn't reply and continued crying her eyes out. Domino sighs. "Okay, I didn't hear a no, so I'm coming in..." She grabs the doorknob and opens the door as she lets herself in and sits on the bed with Annie. "Come on Annie, you got to girl up and be more professional about facing your sister."

Annie continues crying and doesn't reply once more.

Domino frowns before getting an idea as she holds up Azurill in front of Annie. "Look at the baby Pokémon, isn't Azurill the cutest?"

Azurill says the cutest cry to try to cheer up Annie a little. "Azurill!"

Annie looks over to see Azurill and smiles a bit before going back to crying, but she replies to Domino's earlier question while sniffling. "B-but, I don't want to face m-my sister in the league t-tournament!"

"Look, this is a tournament, Annie, if you and Oakley make it far, you both are going to end up facing each other eventually. Whenever the finals, top four, or top eight. Would you rather be the one to eliminate your sister or some random trainer that you don't know?" Domino asked.

"I-I guess I would rather be the one to eliminate her," Annie answered. "b-but, I didn't want to beat her this early, at least the top four or finals!"

"Well, you can blame the computer for that. All league tournament matchups are computer-generated. Also, let's train for a little bit for your battle against Oakley before we watch Jessie's battle with Zayne. Don't you want to watch Jessie battle for you?" Domino asked.

Annie stands up and looks at Domino with a nod. "Let's do it."

It cuts to the outside of the hotel where James and Oakley are and Oakley is still training by having two of her Pokémon battle each other. Soon, the double doors of the hotel open, and Domino and Annie appear. "Well, well, well, look who decided to stop crying."

"You made her feel better, Domino!" James pointed out with a smile.

Domino nods with a smile back. "Yep, now she's ready to train for her match against you, Oakley."

Annie looks directly at Oakley with determination in her eyes. "I'm going to beat you sis and advance into the tournament!"

Oakley looks back at her sister and she just smiles. "There's that determination I was looking for! How about this, you and I team up in a battle against Domino and James in a tag team battle to train for our battle?"

Domino and James look at each other and then they look back. "If it helps us kill time and also helps you train then sure!" Domino says, then she looks at James. "Ready James?"

James looks back at Domino and approves. "Ready!"

As Domino James, Annie, and Oakley stand opposite of each other to make a battlefield in between them for their training battle, it cuts to Samantha secretly spying on them. "Hmm… maybe those sisters are the ones that beat Giovanni?"

"Hey, Samantha!" Jessie greeted behind her, causing Samantha to jump from getting scared.

"My goodness, Jessie, don't scare me like that!" Samantha stated.

Jessie looks to see her friends, battling and training with the sisters, realizing Samantha is watching them. "Why are you watching them battling them?" She raises her eyebrow.

"Umm…" Samantha looks both ways from being awkward. "Oh you know, just studying the sisters' battle strategy so if I do end up facing one of them in the league tournament, I would know what to do during battle. I always do that, trying to do my best to win, you know?"

"Oh, okay!" Jessie points at the two sisters. "Yeah, that's Annie and Oakley. They're here because they passed the Pokémon League Admission Exam, pretty cool huh? They didn't have to do the Gym challenge to get here."

Samantha raises an eyebrow. "So they both passed some exam, they didn't win any Gym badges?"

Jessie nods. "Mhm, that's what I kinda basically said. Well, I better get to the Pokémon Center and pick what Pokémon to use in my battle against Zayne. See ya, Samantha!" Jessie leaves the area.

Samantha pulls out a piece of paper and it has all the current trainers' names in the league tournament with some names crossed out, including Jessie's. "Okay, so it's not those two sisters…" Samantha crosses out both Annie's and Oakley's names on the list. "My suspicions of the two trainers beating Giovanni is that Leaf girl and that one trainer with the powerful Dragonite. Soon, I will find them!" Samantha puts away her pencil and piece of paper before leaving.

It cuts to the Pokémon Center, where Jessie is using a phone and trying to call Professor Oak. Someone picks up, but it isn't Professor Oak that appears on the screen, it is a female assistant instead. "Welcome, Jessie, how may I assist you?" The assistant greets Jessie.

Jessie's eyes widened in shock. "W-wait, you're not Professor Oak! Oh no… did Oak retire?!"

A familiar masculine voice answers Jessie's question behind her. "Oh please, I'm not that old for retirement!"

Jessie looked behind her and there was Professor Oak and her mother, Miyamoto, standing right behind her. "Professor Oak?! Mom?!"

"Sweetie!" Miyamoto runs over to hug her daughter. "You're in the top sixteen! I'm so proud of you, honey!"

"Mom! You're embarrassing me in front of this girl on the phone!" Jessie complains and then grumbles, but she does hug her mother back.

The assistant chuckles and smiles. "It's alright, I know how the love of a mother and daughter can be."

"Oh Jessie, this is my assistant, Aaliyah." Professor Oak points at the screen. "She will be running the lab while I'm here with your mother, watching you and Leaf kick some butt during the tournament!"

Aaliyah greets Jessie with a wave. "It's nice to meet you, Jessie. Are you here to switch some of your Pokémon for your next league tournament battle?"

Jessie nods. "Oh yes, that's why I called!" She then turns to Professor Oak and her mother. "Well thank you guys, I'll try to win for you two, especially you, mom."

"Aww, sweetie…" Miyamoto starts having tears run through her eyes. "My baby girl is fighting in the tournament for me, you're growing up on me too fast!"

Everyone starts to look where the crying is coming from and Jessie starts getting embarrassed. "Mom, stop crying, please!"

"I-I'll take your mother outside while you do your Pokémon transactions in peace. Let's go, Miyamoto." Professor Oak escorts Jessie's mother outside.

Jessie sighs in relief before turning back to the screen to face Aaliyah. "Sorry about that, Aaliyah. Anyways, yes, I would like to switch some of my Pokémon out for this round in the tournament."

Aaliyah nods. "Affirmative, Jessie. Which Pokémon would you like to use during the top sixteen?"

As Jessie thinks about her options for her top sixteen match against Zayne, it time cuts to Jessie's match about to start at the Indigo Stadium. The announcer starts talking. "Hello everyone and welcome to what soon will be another great top sixteen league match! Before we begin, let's introduce our Indigo Champion, Lance, and the Elite Four!"

The crowd erupts in cheers as Agatha, Lorelei, Will, and Bruno appear on each side of the stadium crowd, standing right on the stairs above them, waving at the crowd with smiles. Lance reveals himself to be up in the skybox below the crowd, looking down at the stadium.

Domino and James look to see Lorelei on their side of the stadium. Domino starts blushing. "L-Lorelei is on our side, maybe I should t-talk to her." Domino was about to stand up until James stopped her. "Not sure if that's a great idea because of those guards. You will be kicked out for sure."

The announcer begins introducing the two competitors. "Now let's introduce our competitors that are facing each other in this round! The first competitor entering the stadium, from Pewter City, let's give it up for Zayne!"

Zayne appears walking to the stadium battlefield from the locker room, waving at the crowd with a smile on his face as the announcers start introducing the other competitor. "And Zayne's opponent, from Pallet Town! Let's give a round of applause to Jessie!"

Jessie, with Meowth, appears on the other side of the battlefield, waving and smiling at the crowd. While she was doing so, Will was in the crowd and staring completely down at Jessie with a suspicious look on his face. "That's odd… that girl looks familiar." He says to himself.

The referee has a coin in his hands. "Jessie has heads and Zayne has tails!" They flip the coin and catch it, revealing the outline of Pikachu's head on top, signaling it is heads. "It is heads. So Zayne will be sending out the Pokémon first!"

Zayne pulls out a Poké Ball. "I'll start this battle with… Magneton, I choose you!" He sends out Magneton as his first Pokémon.

Magneton materializes on the battlefield. "Magneton!"

Jessie pulls out a Poké Ball. "Then I'll battle electric with electric! Electabuzz, I choose you!"

Electabuzz materializes on the battlefield. "ELEBUBUBU!"

The referee holds up both green and red flags. "May the battle begin!"

Zayne commands the first move of this matchup. "Magneton, use Swift!"

"Light Screen!" Jessie quickly countered.

Magneton releases blue stars from its body, sending them right at Electabuzz, but the electric Pokémon puts its hands in front of its body and a yellow glass-like screen of energy appears in front of Electabuzz as Magneton's Swift gets deflected off the screen before disappearing.

Jessie quickly commands her next move. "Now use Quick Attack!"

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz starts disappearing and reappearing while getting closer and closer to Magneton, then attacking and dealing damage.

"Magneton!" Magneton cries out in pain.

"Hang in there Magneton and use Tri-Attack!" Zayne commanded.

The three screws on Magneton's body glow white, and the white energy connects, forming a triangle. The Pokémon then shoots the white triangle at Electabuzz.

"I don't think so, use Light Screen!" Jessie countered.

Electabuzz crosses its arms once more as a yellow-like screen forms in front of the electric Pokémon and Magneton's Tri-Attack gets deflected off the glass then the screen disappears.

"Now Quick Attack!" Jessie quickly commanded.

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz starts disappearing and reappearing, getting closer to Magneton each time. The magnet Pokémon tries to keep an eye on the electric Pokémon, only to wind up getting confused until Electabuzz appears right behind Magneton.

"MAGNETON, BEHIND YOU!" Zayne warned.

But it was too late as Electabuzz struck Magneton, dealing more damage to the magnet Pokémon. "Magneton!" Magneton cries out in more pain.

It cuts to James and Domino watching the battle from the crowd. "I see what Jessie is doing. Every time Magneton uses a special move, Jessie will use Light Screen to deflect it and then use Quick Attack to deal damage!" James explained. "Jessie ain't playing around this time!" Domino added with a chuckle. "Azurill!" Azurill cries out in joy.

Zayne starts quietly talking to himself. "I gotta stop this pattern and I know how to do it." Then he commands his next move out loud. "Supersonic, let's go!"

Magneton releases several sound waves from its body, heading towards Electabuzz.

Jessie counters again with the same move she's been using a lot. "Light Screen!"

A yellow-like screen appears from Electabuzz crossing its arms, but the sound waves from the Supersonic pass through the Light Screen and confuse the electric Pokémon. "Elebububu?" Electabuzz scratches its head from being confused.

"Oh no, Electabuzz!" Jessie called out.

"Looks like Light Screen didn't work there for Jessie!" Domino exclaimed.

James nods its head. "Correct. Light Screen can only deflect special moves and Supersonic is not a special move."

Zayne immediately commands his next move. "Now use Swift!"

Jessie counters with the same move that Zayne commanded. "You use Swift too, Electabuzz!"

Magneton releases blue stars from its body at Electabuzz, as for the electric Pokémon, because of being confused, Electabuzz opens its mouth and accidentally aims its yellow stars in the sky. The blue stars from Magneton's Swift end up hitting Electabuzz and to add insult to injury, the yellow stars from Electabuzz's Swift end up dropping back down and hitting the electric Pokémon. "ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz screams out from so much pain it was taking.

"Electabuzz, return!" Jessie immediately recalls Electabuzz back in its Poké Ball and looks at Meowth. "Alright Meowth, you're up!"

Meowth gasped in delight. "You're finally sending me out?! Let's go!" He runs onto the battlefield against Magneton.

Domino chuckles upon seeing Meowth on the battlefield. "Looks like Meowth is finally getting his spotlight!"

James also chuckles as well with a nod. "Indeed. Let's see what he can do!"

Zayne commands the next move. "Zap Cannon!"

"Magneton!" The three eyes on Magneton begin to glow red as it releases a yellow beam of electricity right in the center of the magnet Pokémon toward Meowth.

"Meowth, dodge it quickly!" Jessie countered.

"AW CRAP!" Meowth quickly ducks to dodge the Zap Cannon as it hits the stadium wall.

Jessie immediately commands her next move. "Now use Fury Swipes!"

"Time to show that bucket of bolts to never mess with a Meowth!" Meowth's claws glow white, becoming sharper as he dashes at Magneton with extreme speed, swipes the magnet Pokémon, and quickly disappears.

"Magneton!" Magneton cries out in pain before getting another swipe from Meowth, which was from behind the magnet Pokémon and gets more damage dealt.

Meowth jumps onto the top of Magneton and then in the air. "One more for good measure!" As the talking was coming down, Meowth gave Magneton a third swipe, dealing even more damage as it dashed back to his side of the battlefield.

"Supersonic, Magneton!" Zayne commanded.

"Magneton!" Magneton releases several more sound waves from its body, heading towards Meowth.

Jessie grits her teeth before commanding Meowth to try to avoid it. "Meowth, close your ears with your paws to avoid confusion!"

"I don't know if that's going to work, but okay." Meowth quickly covers his ears as the sound waves from Magneton's Supersonic start hitting Meowth like a truck and disturbing him, causing Meowth to lose focus.

Zayne commands the potential round finishing move. "Magneton, end this with Zap Cannon while Meowth is too disturbed!"

"Magneton!" The three eyes on Magneton begin to glow red once more, releasing a yellow beam of electricity towards Meowth.

"Dodge it Meowth!" Jessie countered.

However, because Meowth has his ears covered, he doesn't hear Jessie's command. "What?" Then Meowth gets hit by the Zap Cannon, getting electrocuted. "AH!" Meowth screams in pain before falling onto the ground.

"MEOWTH!" Jessie called out.

The referee looks at Meowth to see if the talking Pokémon is still able to battle. Meowth gets back up, still able to battle. "I'm not done yet!"

Jessie sighs in relief. "Use Fury Swipes!"

"Dodge them, Magneton!" Zayne quickly counters.

Meowth's claws start glowing white as he tries to swipe Magneton multiple times, but the magnet Pokémon keeps moving out of the way and dodging them. "Hold still, you little lightning rod!" Meowth tries another attempt to swipe Magneton, but Magneton manages to dodge by sending Meowth up in the air.

Zayne takes the opportunity to command a move while Meowth is in the air. "Now use Zap Cannon once more!"

Meowth's eyes widened. "Oh shit!"

Jessie starts sweating in fear as Magneton starts preparing to use Zap Cannon, not knowing what to do until she starts remembering her battle with Samantha on Route 22 as she has a quick flashback.

"Focus more on the battle Meowth and use Thunderbolt!" She commanded in the flashback.

"Conduct it with your Iron Tail!" Samantha countered.

The flashback shows Persian's tail being conducted by its Iron Tail and then slamming it right down on Meowth and then the quick flashback ends.

Jessie tries to make Meowth remember. "Meowth, remember that one battle with that Persian, do you know what it did to its tail to counter electric-type moves?"

Meowth thinks for a little bit before remembering. "This could work…" he says quietly to himself as he turns around to where the tail is facing Magneton. Meowth's tail starts glowing white and then metallic.

"Magneton!" Magneton fires a yellow electrical beam right at Meowth, but the move gets conducted onto his tail.

Zayne's eyes widened in shock. "Wh-what?!"

Jessie clutches her fist. "Now use Iron Tail!"

"Time to eat my dust, Magneton!" Meowth hits Magneton with the electrical Iron Tail while he is descending to the ground.

"Magneton!" Magneton screams in so much pain before dropping to the ground and fainting from the battle.

The referee holds up the green flag to declare the round. "Magneton is unable to battle. The winner of this round is Jessie!"

Jessie pumps her fist in the air in excitement. "Nice job, Meowth!"

Meowth crosses his arms with a smirk. "I told you that you should've put me in earlier."

"Looks like Jessie took a page from Samantha with that strategy." Domino pointed out.

"Azurill!" Azurill cries out in joy from seeing Jessie winning.

"It is a good strategy, so I don't see why not," James added.

It cuts to Samantha watching the battle on a public TV screen with other trainers surrounding her and watching as well. "Looks like that Jessie girl isn't as horrible as I thought. Hmm…" She begins to think.

It cuts back to the battle as Zayne recalls Magneton back to its Poké Ball. "Magneton, return!" Zayne pulls out a different Poké Ball. "Chansey, I choose you!"

Chansey materializes on the battlefield. "Chansey!"

Jessie looks at Meowth. "Alright Meowth, I think you took enough damage for one round, I'm switching you out."

Meowth turns to face his trainer in disbelief. "What?! Come on Jessie, I can take care of this pink egg carrier!"

Jessie shakes her head. "I'm saving you for a tougher opponent, besides, you need to rest for a little bit."

Meowth groans. "Fine!" He runs behind Jessie, confirming stepping out of the battle.

Jessie pulls out a Poké Ball. "Blastoise, I choose you!" She sends out Blastoise next onto the battlefield.

Blastoise materializes. "Blastoise!"

Jessie commands the first move of the first round. "Skull Bash!"

Blastoise starts dashing at Chansey, about to slam its head onto the egg Pokémon.

"Defense Curl!" Zayne countered.

Chansey quickly curls into a ball to cause Blastoise to slam its head onto the curled-up egg Pokémon, causing damage to itself. "Blastoise!" The shellfish Pokémon cries out in pain.

"Argh!" Jessie grits her teeth in frustration. "Use Rain Dance, Blastoise!"

Blastoise fires two orbs of water from its hydro cannons into the sky at the sun. A few seconds pass and rain clouds appear above the battlefield as it starts to rain.

"Chansey, use Egg Bomb!" Zayne commanded.

"Chansey!" Chansey grabs the egg in her pouch, throwing it at Blastoise.

Blastoise catches the egg, looking at it in confusion. "Blastoise?" Then the egg explodes right on the shellfish Pokémon, causing the Blastoise to cough up black smoke as the egg bounces in the air and returns to Chansey's pouch.

"Alright Blastoise, use Hydro Pump!" Jessie commanded.

"I don't think so, pal! Chansey, use Sing!" Zayne countered.

Blastoise was getting ready to blast jets of water from its back cannons until Chansey opened her mouth and started to sing. "Chaaaaansey! Chaaaaansey Chaaaaansey!"

Blastoise's eyes start getting heavy and then shellfish Pokémon falls onto the ground and goes to sleep before it can use Hydro Pump.

"Argh, no!" Jessie says in frustration while gritting her teeth.

Zayne smirks and chuckles. "Oh yes! Now use Double-Edge!"

Chansey runs towards the sleeping Blastoise and tackles it with great force, flinging the shellfish Pokémon back a little and dealing damage. But Chansey falls onto one knee after dealing the move, damaging itself from recoil.

Zayne commands the same powerful move to take advantage of a sleeping Blastoise. "Chansey, use Double Edge again!"

Jessie tries to wake her own Blastoise up. "Come on Blastoise, wake up!"

But Blastoise remains asleep as Chansey dashes at Blastoise again and tackles it with great force, flinging it back a little once more. "Chansey!" Chansey cries out in pain from the recoil damage.

Blastoise's eyes shoot wide open as the shellfish Pokémon wakes up and stares at Chansey.

Jessie smiles in delight upon seeing Blastoise awake. "Yes! You're awake. Okay, Blastoise, use Hydro-"

Jessie was cut off upon seeing Blastoise falling onto the ground and fainting from the two Double Edges from Chansey as the referee held up the red flag. "Blastoise is unable to battle. The winner of this round is Zayne!"

Once Blastoise fainted, the rain and dark clouds above the battlefield all cleared up.

Zayne clutches his fist with a satisfying smile. "And it's all tied up now!"

Jessie grits her teeth before recalling Blastoise. "Blastoise, return!" She pulls out a different Poké Ball. "Electabuzz, you're back in the game!" Jessie sends Electabuzz out once more in the battle.

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz cries out.

"Looks like Electabuzz's confusion disappeared." Domino pointed out.

James nods. "Yep. Confusion status disappears once the Pokémon is recalled."

Zayne pulls out a potion from his pocket. "And to heal that recoil damage that Chansey took, I'm using a potion!" He sprays the potion onto Chansey, healing the Pokémon fully.

Chansey flexes her arms with a smile, signaling all healed up. "Chansey!"

"Electabuzz, use Swift!" Jessie commanded.

Electabuzz opens its mouth and yellow stars come out, right at Chansey, and hit the Pokémon, dealing damage.

"Put Electabuzz to sleep with Sing!" Zayne commanded.

"I don't think so!" Jessie countered. "Electabuzz, use Quick Attack before Chansey could open her mouth!"

Electabuzz quickly disappears, Chansey is about to open her mouth to sing, but Electabuzz quickly reappears in front of Chansey and attacks the egg Pokémon. "Chansey!" Chansey cries out in pain.

"Now use Thunder!" Jessie commanded next.

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electricity starts building up in Electabuzz's two antennas, before blasting powerful electricity right at Chansey.

"Dodge it, Chansey!" Zayne countered.

Chansey quickly rolls out of the way to dodge the Thunder.

Zayne quickly follows up with a move. "Now use Egg Bomb!"

Chansey grabs her egg from her pouch and throws it at Electabuzz, who catches it. "Elebububu?" Electabuzz scratches its head in confusion.

Jessie tries to warn her Electabuzz. "ELECTABUZZ, THAT EGG IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE! GET RID OF IT QUICK!"

"ELE!" Electabuzz was about to throw the egg, but it exploded before the electric Pokémon could and flew the Pokémon back from the explosion, taking damage and crying out in pain. "ELEBUBUBU!"

"Electabuzz, use Quick Attack!" Jessie commanded.

"Chansey, Double Edge!" Zayne countered.

Chansey and Electabuzz both start dashing towards each other as both Pokémon collide and attack each other, but Chansey gets the upper hand by inflicting more damage on Electabuzz, flinging the Pokémon back. "ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz cries out in more pain before falling to the ground. "Chansey!" Chansey also cries out in pain from the recoil damage, which causes the egg Pokémon to fall to the ground too.

Jessie and Zayne both stare at their Pokémon on the ground, waiting for one of them to stand up which one does and that is Electabuzz. "Yes!" Jessie says in delight, seeing Chansey still down and looking like she fainted.

The referee holds up the green flag. "Chansey is unable to battle, which means Jessie wins this round!"

Electabuzz starts taking deep breaths from how tired the electric Pokémon is. "Elebububu…"

"Chansey, return!" Zayne recalls Chansey back in its Poké Ball before pulling out a different one. "My last Pokémon and I'm sure you know this one pretty well, Jessie. Blastoise, I choose you!" He sends out his last Pokémon onto the battlefield.

Blastoise materializes. "Blastoise!"

"Alright Electabuzz I know you're tired but you have the type advantage." Jessie proceeds to command the first move of this round. "Use, Thunder!"

Zayne quickly counters. "Protect!"

Electricity starts building up in Electabuzz's two antennas once more, blasting powerful electricity right at Blastoise, but the shellfish Pokémon summons a blue barrier right in front of them, deflecting the Thunder.

"You can't use Protect twice in a row!" Jessie commands the same move. "Electabuzz, use Thunder again!"

Zayne smirks."Don't think that I didn't know that, Jess. Use Withdraw, Blastoise!"

Electabuzz blasts more powerful electricity from its two antennas right at Blastoise, but the shellfish Pokémon withdraws into its shell as the Thunder gets deflected again but off the shell of Blastoise this time.

"You gotta be kidding me!" Jessie said in disbelief.

"Now watch this! Rapid Spin, Blastoise!" Zayne commanded.

While Blastoise was in its shell, the shellfish Pokémon spun directly into Electabuzz, dealing damage to the electric Pokémon. "ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz cries out in pain, gets flung back, and falls onto the ground, fainting.

The referee holds up the red flag to declare the round. "Electabuzz is unable to battle, the winner of this round is Zayne!"

"So much for the type advantage…" Jessie sighs and recalls Electabuzz back in its Poké Ball before looking at Meowth. "Alright Meowth, clutch this one up for me!"

Meowth nods, giving his trainer a thumbs up. "You got it!" He jumps onto the battlefield and stares right down at Blastoise. "Alright, time to take care of this waterhead!"

Jessie smiles, pumping her fist in the air. "That's the spirit, use Fury Swipes!"

"Use Protect!" Zayne quickly counters.

Meowth dashes at Blastoise while its claws glow white. The shellfish Pokémon quickly summons a blue barrier around itself as Meowth starts swiping over and over. "Come on! Stupid barrier!"

"Hydro Pump!" Zayne commanded.

However, that move was a big mistake as commanding the move makes the blue barrier disappear and Meowth swipes Blastoise across the face, dealing damage to the shellfish Pokémon. "Blastoise!" Blastoise cries out in pain.

Zayne gasps. "No way!"

Meowth blows its sharp claw with a chuckle. "I still had one more swipe in me!"

Jessie immediately commands her next to move to take advantage of the situation. "Thunderbolt!"

"Time for the shock of a lifetime!" Meowth's fur starts flowing with electricity and sends out a bolt of it right at Blastoise.

Blastoise was too busy scratching its face from the swipe it received from Meowth earlier and got electrocuted. "BLASTOISE!" Blastoise screams out in tons of pain after getting hit by a super-effective move.

"That should've done it!" Jessie says with a smirk, but her smirk immediately fades away into a shocked expression as she speaks too soon as Jessie sees that Blastoise is still standing.

Blastoise is heavily breathing from taking so much. "Blastoise…"

"You're strong Blastoise and I know you win this battle! Use Hydro Pump!" Zayne commanded.

Blastoise lets out a loud battle cry. "BLASTOISE!" Before sending out jets of powerful water right at Meowth.

Jessie screams at Meowth to dodge it. "DODGE IT, MEOWTH!"

"AH!" Meowth turns around and tries to run away from the Hydro Pump, but it is too fast and hits Meowt flinging him to the battlefield wall and hitting it.

"MEOWTH, NO!" Jessie screamed out as she looked at her Meowth, who was on the ground, all wet and not moving a muscle at all. She closes her eyes in defeat, thinking it's over. "I guess this is it… my time in the league is over," Jessie says quietly to herself.

The referee looks at Meowth on the ground, about to hold up the red flag to declare the winner until the referee hears a voice.

"WAIT!" It was Meowth, who slowly got up and started coughing up water, still able to battle. "I'm not… done yet!"

Jessie slowly smiles from seeing her Meowth okay. "You're alright Meowth! You're… alright!"

"Even though I despise water, it isn't taking me down that easily!" Meowth says with a smirk.

Jessie nods before commanding her move. "Then use Thunderbolt!"

Meowth sends a bolt of electricity right to Blastoise from it flowing in its fur.

Zayne quickly counters with the same move. "Use Protect, Blastoise!"

"Blastoise!" Blastoise summons a blue barrier to deflect the Thunderbolt once more and protect itself, then it disappears.

Meowth grits his teeth. "That damn Protect is getting on my nerves."

"That's okay, I got a plan! Iron Tail!" Jessie commanded.

Meowth's tail becomes metallic, dashing towards Blastoise with determination in his eyes.

Zayne counters once more with the other move to deflect moves. "Withdraw into your shell, let's go!"

Blastoise quickly withdraws into its shell as Meowth strikes the Pokémon with its metallic tail, not dealing any damage from it as Meowth jumps back from his side of the battlefield.

Zayne immediately commands her next move. "Now use Rapid Spin, end this once and for all!"

Blastoise starts spinning right toward Meowth as the talking Pokémon looks back at his trainer Jessie. "What's next, Jess?"

However, Jessie doesn't respond and stays silent, looking at the spinning shell of Blastoise getting closer and closer to Meowth.

Meowth's eyes widened and gulped in fear. "WHY ARE YOU NOT RESPONDING?!"

As the spinning shell of Blastoise gets closer and closer to Meowth, Jessie immediately commands Meowth what to do. "Meowth, jump onto the top of Blastoise's shell, quick!"

Meowth quickly jumps very high in the air, lands right on top of Blastoise's shell, and pretends to be surfing. "Look at me, I'm shell surfing! Woohoo!"

Blastoise was still moving in its shell and ended up hitting the league wall, causing the spinning to stop. The shellfish Pokémon slowly withdraws out of its shell and looks lost from hitting the wall. "Blastoise…"

Zayne's eyes widened from disbelief at what he was experiencing. "No way…"

Jessie smiles, clutching her fists together. "Meowth, jump off and use Thunderbolt!"

"It was fun while it lasted." Meowth jumps off from the shell and sends a bolt of electricity right to Blastoise right in the air. Blastoise gets electrocuted and immediately faints from the battle. Meowth lands on the ground with his two feet and does a victory pose. "And that's how it's done!"

The referee holds up the green flag to declare the victor. "Blastoise is unable to battle. The winner of this league battle is Jessie and Meowth!"

As the crowd erupts in cheers from the victor, Jessie runs up to the battlefield and hugs her Meowth. "I can always count on you, Meowth!"

Meowth sighs and decides to hug her trainer back. "I wasn't going down without a fight."

Zayne sighs from being defeated as he recalls Blastoise. "Blastoise, return." He looks at the Poké Ball with a huge smile. "You did a fantastic job, Blastoise, I'm so proud of you. Take a long rest." Zayne puts Blastoise's Poké Ball away before walking up to Jessie, extending his hand. "That was a great battle, Jessie. You earned this win!"

Jessie gladly accepts Zayne's hand and shakes it. "You did great too, Zayne. You battled with honor and respect, I thought I was eliminated right there. You deserve some praise too!"

Zayne bows to express gratitude. "Thank you so much, Jessie. Good luck in the rest of the tournament." He turns around and heads back to the locker room.

Jessie looks around and sees everyone in the crowd giving her praise and applauding. She looks and sees her friends, Domino and James, clapping for her, the very Elite Four also clapping for her, then she looks at the skybox and sees the Indigo Champion, Lance, also clapping for her as well.

The scene focuses on Elite Four member Will, talking in his thoughts while clapping for Jessie. "Wow… Jessie has come a long way from when we were both in high school. I hope we battle someday, Jessie."

It cuts to a hotel room where Professor Oak and Jessie's mom, Miyamoto, are staying, who watched the entire battle on the television screen. Professor Oak turns to Miyamoto with a smile on his face. "You're proud of your daughter, are you, Miyamoto?"

Miyamoto is seen with tears in her eyes as she wipes them away. "You better believe it!"

It cuts back to Jessie and Meowth, they're looking at each other before the two start hugging each other in delight to celebrate more of their victory together. "We're going all the way, right Meowth?" Jessie asked.

"You damn right, Jess!" Meowth responded.

"Jessie manages to outlast Zayne and move onto the top eight! But the battles are only going to get more tough for Jessie along the road. Will she be able to win the Kanto League Tournament to move on to the Indigo League to face the Elite Four and possibly the very Indigo League Champion? Find out as the journey continues!"
