CHAPTER 12:BEST FRIEND

The Elite school is the school for the rich, only few poor kids attends the school. The school is known for her excellence in academics and otherwise. Different students are seen in the hallway. Some are seen scurrying to their classes while some stood in the hallway, pressing their phones and checking out other students.

Bryan passed them with his headphones as usual. He did not bother to look at the girls who winked at him. He walked into his class, went straight to his seat and sat down. The seat beside him was empty. Maya is late again, he thought.

"Thinking about me?" Maya showed up.

" You are late again"

"Not like the teacher is here, so I'm quite early"She said, sitting down.

" You overslept again because you were watching horror movies"

" Always" she said, feeling less concerned.

"I forgot to tell you, the ball night is in a month time and I feel for GG"

" Ohhhh, about that. Why do you pity him"

"That was the day his fiancee was murdered"She said with concern and pity laced inn her voice.

" Ohhh, that's bad. About the ball night, why do your parents celebrate the ball night. It's a tradition for the England to do that, why is it a tradition for your family" Bryan asked.

" My dad stayed grew up in England and that's where he met my mom and I guess, he loves the ball night especially the dance" she said .

"Okay, so I guess your dress will be exquisite" he smirked.

" What's that smirk on your face. Don't you trust me?" She hit his shoulder.

"I do" he said.

" Did you work on the calculus assignment"He asked looking at her this time.

"Calculus assignment? The one Mr.Greg, the bald man gave?"She asked, flipping through her notes to confirm.

"You did not, I guess"

" I didn't, let me go through yours"

He simply brought out a paper and gave it to her. She stared at it in excitement before engulfing him in a bear hug.

"Bryan, you are the best. I couldn't imagine myself writing this assignment" she said, still hugging him. The students in the class watched the drama. She released him from her tight hug.

" You almost killed me" he coughed slightly. The students kept staring at them.

" Why are they staring? They should get used to my drama with you" she rolled her eyes.

" You are such a brainiac. I'm sure of getting all the answers this time" she rubbed his soft chestnut hair.

"Mr.Greg will be here soon" Bryan said.

"Yeah ,the ugly man. I don't like him at all"

" He isn't that bad. You don't like him because you hate calculus, admit it".

"Yeah, that's true but at the same time he's strict. Gosh!" Mr. Greg rushed into the class with beads of sweat formed on his forehead. He is a short stout man in his late fourties.

"Good morning, students. Sorry, I am late. I had a lot of things to attend to"Mr. Greg said.

"Who cares" Maya mumured. Bryan shook his head negatively.

"The topic for today is Integration by parts and it's necessary you pay close attention to this topic" Mr. Greg continued. Bryan paid close attention to the teacher.

30 minutes into the class, Maya was sleeping. Bryan tried waking her up several times but she refused to wake up.

"Who is sleeping over there" he pointed at Bryan's direction. Bryan pinched her this time.

"Ouch! That hurts" she said with sleepy eyes.

"Mr. Greg is staring at you" she widened her eyes immediately.

"I'm in trouble"she whispered, facing the window to avoid the teacher's hard stare.

"Maya Odlene, stand up!"Mr. Greg called. Maya stood up.

"Step out and solve this question on the board" Maya walked to the board fearfully. She hates calculus and now this. She felt like sinking into the ground. Bryan cannot save her this time, she thought. The teacher gave her the marker. She stared at the board for some seconds before attempting the question.

After some minutes, she turned to the teacher and students.

"Maya Odlene, what did you solve" he asked, looking at the terrible answer.

"The question you gave me , Sir" she answered, looking at the ground.

"Get your assignment" He told her. She walked to her seat , trying to bring out the paper Bryan gave to her.

"Sorry" Bryan whispered. She just rolled her eyes before walking back to Mr. Greg. Mr. Greg scanned through the assignment, giving a satisfactory nod.

" If you really did this, why didn't you get the basics on the board. Your working from the beginning was wrong, totally wrong! . How did you work on this questions I gave?" He said.

"I…I…I did them myself" some students burst into laughter, knowing Bryan did it.

"What's funny?. Maya , meet me in my office during the break period" He said.

"Okay Sir" He signalled her to go back to her seat.

"That would be all for today. Bryan, gather the assignment and bring them to my office" Mr. Greg said before leaving the class.

Maya walked back to her seat lazily. When she got to her seat ,she sat down.

"That was epic" she said.

"Yeah, sleepy head"Bryan mocked.

"You didn't bother to wake me up" She hit him on his shoulder slightly.

"Now, I won't go to the cafeteria with you. I planned to take chips with a little ketchup" she closed her eyes as she spoke.

"But that's not possible again. I'm stuck with the bald ugly man" She opened her eyes, feeling sad.

"You have to learn to solve the assignment question because Mr. Greg may give you a question relating to that and you have to solve it in his office" Bryan said.

" What!"She exclaimed. Bryan shrugged.

"Are you ready to learn this or you prefer detention?"He asked with a smirk on his lips.

"Arrrrrrrrghhhh, two horrible options"She facepalmed herself. She brought out her note and Bryan tried teaching her for some minutes but he noticed she has dozed off again. He tapped her .

" I think the detention is the best option" she said before dozing off again.
