CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX - She never thought she would beat someone up in a back alley, but, you know, times change.
We turned to go down a back alley. It was much less crowded than the main streets, and soon I found it was for a reason. Me and Asa had *accidentally* walked straight into a group of thugs.
"Uhm. oops. I'll just turn around-" I said, taking in the smudged boots, cigarettes, and knives. Suddenly, I was yanked back by the hair. (??? Cordelia, is that you?) One of the things leered at me, but, a minute later, let out a yelp as he was smalled against a wall. I barely had time to blink. Another thug was about to cut Asa's already-wounded shoulder with a knife.
Without thinking, I grabbed a brick and chucked it at the thug's head. Asa spun around and landed that other thung with a roundhouse kick, and his shoulder was safe (even though it was technically already bleeding). The rest scampered away, a few dropping cigarettes in surprise. Ooh, I never imagined I would beat someone up in a back alley. One more thing to cross off my list, I guess.
