Retribution not forgiveness

"*Sigh*, Alright, I admit that I was a jerk, and I did not listen to you guys, and I was just being unreasonable and selfish" said Curtis as he sighed.

"I now see the error of my ways, and I promise that I won't act like that again" said Curtis as he realized that he really did owe them all a sincere apology, after all, he was not the only affected by Annie, they all were, and they all cared for Annie, he was just being selfish by not allowing them to help him.

"So can you please forgive me?" asked Curtis as this felt weird, he had never had to apologize to anyone before, he had also never had to explain himself to anyone before.

"Of course Curtis, why not" said Matt as he smiled, Curtis did apologize, so what was the point of remaining angry with him?

"We know how you can get" said Matt as he laughed.

"Thank you Matt" said Curtis as he smiled.

"Anytime" said Matt as he smiled.

"And you Maddie" said Curtis as he turned to look at Maddie.

"Do you forgive me too?" asked Curtis.

"Hmmm, Hmmm" said Maddie as she seemed to be thinking.

"Come on Maddie" said Matt as he laughed.

"Hey, Hey, don't rush me" said Maddie.

"Not everyone is as forgiving as you and Annie okay" said Maddie and Annie and Matt laughed, Maddie could just be so unreasonable at times.

"Alright Fine, I will forgive you" said Maddie as she looked at Curtis.

"If…" said Maddie as she paused.

"If what?" asked Curtis.

"If you let me punch you in the face, then we will be even and I will forgive you" said Maddie as she smiled.

"Maddie!!" said Annie as she was shocked.

"That's not forgiveness, that's retribution" said Annie as she could not believe what she was hearing from Maddie right now.

"Sounds like the same thing to me" said Maddie as she smiled sweetly and Matt shook his head, if anyone thought Maddie looked sweet, well they were badly mistaken, she was as rough as sandpaper.

"But…" said Annie as she was cut off.

"It's fine Annie, she is right, I do deserve it" said Curtis as he stopped Annie from arguing, he of all people knew how Maddie could be, and he also knew that she was not one to forgive easily so he had to brace himself, because that was the only way she would forgive him and then they could finally move past this matter once and for all.

"Good" said Maddie as she smiled.

"I suggest that you close your eyes" said Maddie as she smiled.

"As you wish" said Curtis as he sighed and he closed his eyes as he waited for the impact, while Annie and Matt were wondering how things came to this, Maddie was being mean.

"3...2…1" said Maddie as she did as if she was going to punch Curtis, and at the last second, she removed her hand from a fist, and all she did was to flick Curtis's nose.

"That is for being annoying" said Maddie as she frowned.

"And this if for being a jerk" said Maddie as she flicked his nose again and this time Curtis opened his eyes as he thought he was going to feel much pain, but he did not.

"And this if for actually thinking that I would punch you" said Maddie as she laughed and she flicked his nose one final time.

"But it's good that you fear me, and you know just what I truly am capable of" said Maddie as she was back to smiling sweetly.

"Gosh Maddie, you really fooled us all" said Annie as she laughed in relief, Maddie was just so silly.

"I had a feeling she was not going to actually do it" said Matt as he laughed, he knew Maddie could not be that petty, or at least he thought so.

"Oh you all really think of me as a monster don't you?" asked Maddie as she laughed.

"So am I forgiven?" asked Curtis.

"Sadly, yes you are, and if you act like this again, next time, I am actually going to punch you" said Maddie.

"I will take you at your word" said Curtis as he laughed, he knew that Maddie was not joking at all, she was very serious.

"Good" said Maddie as she smiled, of course she was not going to punch the face of the precious Curtis of her best friend Annie, she was sure that Annie would be upset with her if she did.

"Well I just came here to settle things, I need to go and speak to Stella" said Curtis.

"Well alright" said Maddie.

"Okay, see you later Curtis" said Matt as he smiled.

"See you Curtis" said Annie as she smiled and Curtis smiled at her as he walked away.

"So where were we before Curtis came in?" asked Maddie as she was trying to remember what they were talking about.

"Annie was about to tell us what she is searching for in the library" said Matt as he smiled.

"Ahh yes, okay" said Annie.

"I am looking for anything that has to do with a revive spell" said Annie as she turned back to look around at the man bookshelves, she wondered how she would be able to find what she was looking for, and that was why she had called Maddie and Matt to come along with her, so they could help her.

"Oh okay" said Maddie.

"Can you please help me search?" asked Annie as she smiled.

"Sure, you don't even need to ask" said Matt as he smiled and Annie smiled at him.

"Why are you looking for something on the revive spell?" asked Maddie as she began to search for anything that had the revive spell, because as far as she knew that spell was a forbidden spell.

"Well because, I used it" said Annie as she sighed.

"What???!!" asked Maddie in shock as she turned to look at Annie, and Matt looked at Maddie.

"What's wrong?" asked Matt as he did not understand, he had never heard of such a spell before.

"Annie, you do know that the revive spell is forbidden, it has unpredictable consequences" said Maddie.

"Okay, now this sounds dangerous" said Matt.

"What exactly is the revive spell?" asked Matt as he was totally clueless.

"Matt, the revive spell, is a spell that must never be used, much more less even spoke about" said Maddie as she turned to look at Matt.

"Look, it's a spell that you use to bring back something you lost, but it comes at a price, you might get back what you lost, but the spell will take back something in return, and most times, what it taken in return is even more than what you wanted to bring back" said Maddie as she explained.

"I see, that sound dangerous" said Matt.

"Oh it is" said Maddie.

"Annie, what did you use the spell for??" asked Maddie as she turned to look at Annie.

"I...I...used it to bring back Curtis" said Annie as she sighed.

"What do you mean bring back Curtis?" asked Maddie in suspicion.

"Wait what??" asked Matt as this made no sense to him, Curtis was just right here a few moments ago, so what was Annie talking about??

"Look the thing is, Azazel killed Curtis" said Annie as she sighed.

"He what??" asked Maddie in shock, even Matt looked surprised.

"Yes, he did, when you guys were out, me and Curtis were left and well Curtis sacrificed himself for me, and Azazel killed him, and I was just so angry, that somehow I managed to hit Azazel, I don't even know how I did it, and he ended up disappearing" said Annie as she explained.

"In that moment while we were in the plains, I was all alone, Curtis was gone, you all were gone, so I… I did what I thought was right, and I revived Curtis, and after I did, I passed out" said Annie.

"Oh Annie" said Maddie as she smiled, she knew that Annie did not have it easy.

"I don't know what happened next, all I know is that I woke up, and you all said that I was in a coma for a month" said Annie.

"*Sigh*" said Maddie as she sighed, now it all made sense, they all knew that something big must have happened, but this was too much.

"Annie… what did you exchange in return?" asked Maddie as she looked at Annie.

"Umm…" said Annie as she hesitated.

"Annie, what did you exchange??" asked Maddie once again as to her this did not sound good at all, Maddie was worried… worried of what Annie might have lost, it might have been irreplaceable.

"Annie…" called Maddie once again.

"I lost my magic" said Annie as she sighed and she told the truth.

"Oh my…" said Maddie as she did not know what to say and Matt eyes went wide, Annie lost her magic??
