Chapter 96

This year wouldn’t be any different. His father would pointedly ignore him while his mother would simply remain quiet, following his father’s lead. He and Victor were never close as brothers to begin with, so the zero conversation between them was normal. In fact, it was worse now that he was out of the closet. He had no doubt Joy would rather have dinner at her parents’ house, but that wasn’t possible. His traditional parents would take offence at that.

After all, as a married woman, Joy had to be with Victor, and a husband’s family would always rank higher than a wife’s. She was a part of the Yang family now. Whatever her previous Chinese surname was, it didn’t really matter anymore. All of Victor and Joy’s children would automatically be given the surname of Yang. That would never be up for discussion. Case closed.

“Vince!”

Vincent was startled out of his reverie when he heard David shouting out his name. He turned toward his office door and forced a grin at his best friend.
