Qi Disruption

Bai Mei Li moved to a more secluded place and started to work on the array. With Bi Yu's instruction and Bai Mei Li's natural talent it didn't take her long to create a small crack in the array.

Bai Mei Li hadn't thought that creating a disturbance in the array would be so easy.

Of course it was only easy because of her abnormal spirit and mental power and Bi Yu's support.

After Chu Ling gave the children to one of the village women that she trusted she quickly made her way back to Bai Mei Li. She was shocked to find Bai Mei Li already standing on the other side of the field.

"Hurry up Chu Ling, I can't keep destabilizing it like this. The entire field will fail soon."

Chu Ling was startled out of her stupor and quickly made her way out.

"I didn't know you knew how to manipulate arrays." Chu Ling was genuinely impressed. She'd wanted to learn how to use arrays and make arrays but she'd discovered that she didn't have any natural talent for it. She'd been very disappointed.

"I was lucky to have an affinity for it." Bai Mei Li smiled then looked toward the direction that the commotion had been coming from. "Let's go take a look. It seems to be calming down."

It appeared that Chu Ling had been correct. Minutes after Fan Tao made his appearance everything started to calm down.

Bai Mei Li and Chu Ling were making their way carefully to where they could feel the pressure of the other cultivators. Bai Mei Li couldn't help but remember what that interference in her power had felt like and she wanted to explore it some more. How often would she come into contact with such strong people? She'd heard from the villagers that the cultivators here rarely stayed put for long. Besides Bai Mei Li had always preferred figuring things out for herself whenever she could.

She was considered a scientist, although to other mainstream scientists psychology was considered a 'soft science,' the scientific process that she went through was basically the same. So she never really felt like she gained enough from just being told. Knowledge always felt more gratifying when she discovered it herself.

Chu Ling on the other hand wasn't curious at all. She thought it might be perceived as being rude if they went there to peep. After all she didn't know and hadn't questioned Bai Mei Li about why they were going over there. She just thought that Bai Mei Li had a gossiping soul and wanted to know what was going on over there. She didn't want to leave her alone so she tagged along, but she couldn't help but have doubts about rather or not they should be going. She wasn't the type of person that liked to offend others.

Bai Mei Li didn't know what Chu Ling's concerns were, but even she did it wouldn't of changed much of anything. Once she decided on something she just went and did it. Best case scenario she would of just told Chu Ling to wait somewhere nearby for her. If she was afraid of getting into trouble then Bai Mei Li wouldn't force her, and of course she wouldn't think badly of her.

Just because she was fairly fearless when it came to discovery didn't mean she expected others to be just as fearless as she was.

After they'd been running was for a little while Bai Mei Li began to slow down and motioned for Chu Ling to do the same.

They weren't quite there yet but she didn't want to just run up on them. It was better to move up slowly to make sure that everything was really safe.

"We'll move more slowly from here on out." Bai Mei Li said as she started circulating her Qi again. She frowned as she felt that familiar disruption. She started forming ice and found that like before it took about five times the amount of effort to do so then it normally would of.

Bai Mei Li was amazed.

Those two monsters weren't even focusing their attention on her, their mere presence was enough to disrupt her abilities.

It was scary just thinking about.

Didn't that mean that if they were to actually focus their attention her then she wouldn't be able to do anything all.

Bai Mei Li moved closer and and closer until she could faintly hear their voice. She was still quite a distance from them but that was okay because with her cultivation her senses where enhanced enough that she didn't need to be that close to hear to them.

Of course listening to their conversation wasn't her main objective… or rather it wasn't her objective at all. She just wanted to get as close as possible so she could use their pressure to study her own abilities. It was a rare opportunity for her so she didn't want to waste it.

For Chu Ling though that fact that Bai Mei Li had stopped within hearing distance seemed to confirm that Bai Mei Li was just curious about what was going on with the couple. She didn't think this was a good habit so she decided that after they got back she would have to have a good conversation with her and let her know that this was a habit that she needed to get rid of.

They weren't in their world anymore. Ease dropping in this world was the fastest way to get yourself killed. Cultivators weren't very forgiving, and they all tended to have bad tempers.

Chu Ling looked at Bai Mei Li who had her eyes closed. It appeared as though she was really concentrating on the couples conversation. Chu Ling sighed. 'It seems I'll have to talk to her after all. This is a really bad habit.' She then looked in the direction the voice were coming from.

"I don't care. Your family has never properly respected me! It doesn't matter if you don't want that woman, if you weren't so lenient with your family and had made your position on concubines firm then how could they have the nerve to bring some strange woman into our home!" A woman's furious voice could be heard in the distance.

"Xiu'er everyone knows how much I love you. I've made that abundantly clear in words and actions. My mother didn't mean any harm this is just the custom here. She doesn't even feel as though she's done anything wrong… it's how things work. Stop being so anger it's bad for your body… you know that I'll never accept another it doesn't matter who they bring, there's on you in my heart." A mans voice responded. He said patient and the affection he felt for the woman could be clearly heard.

"Enough! How many times have I asked you to make it crystal clear about the concubines. Of course I know the customs of this world. How long have I been here?! That's exactly why I told you to tell them in advance. Now look at what's happened!" The woman practically screamed. "What are we to do now about that woman?!"

"Ye Xiu I understand why your so upset, you must calm down." The familiar voice of Fan Tao could be heard trying to calm the raging Ye Xiu.

"Fan Tao you don't understand! She's already at the mansion. They settled her in and assigned her a courtyard. They have order Yu to return and consummate their marriage for God's sake. We haven't even been married a year yet!" Ye Xiu could be heard sobbing now.

Bai Mei Li was still standing there with her eyes closed. She was very focused on consolidating her Qi Under the tremendous force of the two's Qi.

It was so much harder then she'd thought it would be. She could activate, circulate and form Qi… it was just that the process had been considerably slowed down. She was trying to find a way to speed it all back up. If it remained like this, then if there was anyone powerful around and she encountered trouble their mere presence could endanger her life. How could Bai Mei Li accept this?

She needed to find a way to function as close to normal as she could when powerful cultivators were near. As long as they weren't directing their Qi around her, she found it ridiculous that she couldn't even function normally with them around, she couldn't accept it.

Though she could hear the couples conversation she wasn't paying attention to it. She absorbed it like background noise. She'd be able to recall later if she wanted too but for now at least her full focus was on her disrupted Qi.

"Xiu'er didn't I say I would fix this? Why get yourself so worked up over a unrelated woman that I will never touch. I thought that I had made myself clear to my family, I didn't expect them to directly ignore and bring some strange woman into our home. Xiu'er calm down first, okay?" Li Yu now sounded very distressed.

Chu Ling and Bai Mei Li had been there for a while now and Chu Ling thought that they'd heard enough. She just been about to suggest to Bai Mei Li that they leave when a shadowy figure suddenly appeared in front of her. She yelped and jumped back.

Chai Ying chuckled looking at her startled figure. "I didn't take you for the nosy type Xiao Ling." He looked between the two women and teased.
