Author's Note: That synopsis took me a week to write with help from my English and Literature teachers. Thank you for reading my novel. I apologize because some of my first chapters are really long and jam packed. Please bear with me and don't let it discourage you from reading. The story is good I promise. Though it may take a while for the story to pick up. It might not get interesting until the 68th chapter but I implore you to give it a chance. ( ꈍᴗꈍ) It's my first novel so please support me (٥↼_↼). Vote, comment even an emoji will suffice.

Unveiling the forbidden world

"Hey Janet you gotta play this new otome game" I turned around facing my friend Katie who called me.

"You know that I hate romance games get that nonsense out of my face"

To be honest romance has never hit well with me. Boys are jerks who take advantage of a girl's heart, I know from personal experience. I was such a fool to think he was the perfect gentleman, The truth is chivalry died a long time ago.

"Come on it's incredible first there's the heroine Charlotte she's a commoner who captures the attention of the crown prince with her...." My friend Katie says excitedly

"Shut up I'm in no mood for this if you still want someone to talk to there's a rubbish bin at the back of the class that would love to hear you out"

"Hmmph Meanie!"

I watch her storm off to another side of the room. Lately every girl in school has been going on and on about this new game. What was it called again "Mischievous Nobles" or something like that. Honestly people need to grow up and realize that the 2D boys they are crushing on aren't real.

"Janet!!"

Ugh! my poor ears what stupid goat is calling out my name this time.

"Lower your tone unless you have enough money to pay for the windows you'll be shattering with that shrill voice of yours" I say lightly covering my ears.

"Why haven't you played Mischievous Nobles yet or you actually a girl?" My friend friend Joanna asks me.

"I just don't want to waste my time on something pointless that's all"

"What exactly are you calling pointless?" She asks hysterically

"Romance is really isn't one of my preferred genres I like mystery novels better"

"Mischievous Nobles also has an interesting plot. You just have to give it a shot"

"Nope not happening" I deadpan

"I'll give you a brief summary of what the game is about and if you still don't have any interest I'll stop bothering you"

"Fine....." I sigh.

"The story takes place in the kingdom of Aendesia. The main character is a girl named Charlotte meets the crown prince Damien in a garden at night. The crown prince is instantly smitten by her and vows to make her his. Working as a maid in the imperial palace she catches the heart of four other nobels.

Alexander the Marquis, Jake the son of the Baron, Erick the second prince of the kingdom and Keith the second son of the duke. But there's one person who is against Charlotte and absolutely hates her, Her name is Veronica Henderson she's a duchess that just so happens to be the crown prince's fiance. The crown prince has no intention of marrying her and rejects her at every interval ..... Hey are you even listening to me?"

"Yeah crown prince and evil girl go on"

"Hmmmmmm... So Veronica does everything in her power to tear the two of them apart but if proves difficult, All the male leads in the game absolutely hate her and stop her whenever she tries to hurt the female lead. When all her efforts fail she gets involved in an assassination attempt on the prince's life. And is condemned to death, But Erick intervenes and she gets banished to a wasteland."

"Where's the plot, what you've just described to me is nothing more than a cliche romance novel"

"There's plenty of mystery to be found, Charlotte has to figure out who's behind the crown prince's assassination attempt as well as seal away evil spirits"

"You didn't tell me about that. Does this villain have any powers?" I ask hoping she notices my lack of interest on the topic.

"Yep infact she's the kingdom's top mage and the heroine is a spirit summoner, She's the worst she has money, fame, power and beauty and she's got nothing better to so she bullies Charlotte."

"Is that all?"

"No I'm not done yet....I....Um..."

"This conversation is over"

I get up from my chair and leave the classroom. As I walk down the halls I can hear them, the excited whispers of girls who just played the game.

"Veronica is the worst"

"Charlotte was just poisoned"

"Ugh who do I chose the crown prince or the little duke"

"Veronica isn't responsible for the assassination attempt"

"What makes you so sure?"

"Because she was in lo..."

Gosh was every girl in this school that jobless that they can't find anything better to do with their time.

I hate romance and love of any sort, I sigh in relief. I'm refusing to play this game for my own selfish reasons. A loud ringing interrupts my train of thought, the school bell rings informing us that our break is over. I turn around and head back to class. Our Chemistry teacher Mrs Smith walks in and places her books on the desk. That woman is scary students live in fear of her more than the principal himself. The lesson starts and I soon find myself forgetting about the game and focusing on the new topic.

Time flies by and the day comes to an end I pack up my books get ready to leave. When I feel a hand on my shoulder I turn around to see who it is. It was my friend Katie.

"If you're coming to preach to me about that game forget about it not

gonna hear it"

"Moron! I was gonna ask if you want to walk home together. Vanessa and Joana are coming with though"

"Sure why not"

The four of us leave the school and start on our way home. We walked in silence for a couple of minutes before Vanessa decided to talk.

"So Janet have you played Mischievous Nobles" Vanessa asks me.

"No and I'm not interested"

"Why not it's got amazing graphics and a nice storyline plus I've got a feeling that you'll enjoy it." she presses on.

"I mean Katie gave me a summary of how the game is but I'm still not interested"

"Maybe you need to see the characters to get the ball rolling"

She reaches into her bag and pulls out her phone spends a couple minutes searching for something and hands it to me.

On the screen is a pale woman with dark red wavy hair that resembled the color of blood and red eyes. She's a beautiful woman no doubt.

"That's the villainess Veronica"

I move on to another picture this one the woman inside has beautiful blond hair that is the equivalent of gold. Beautiful ocean blue eyes and Rosy cheeks. She is absolutely adorable.

"That's the heroine Charlotte"

The rest of the male leads were impressive. Damien had beautiful brown hair and lovely grey eyes. Erick had blond hair that was almost platinum and similar grey eyes. Jake had black hair and deep green eyes.

"What about Alexander and Keith?"

"You unlock them after doing a special event so you'll have to play the game if you wanna see em"

She stuck her tongue at me and smirked. I gave a quizzical look before answering her.

"You know you look ugly when you do that"

She hisses in annoyance before snatching her phone from me and shoving it back into her bag.

We finally reach a T-junction and we have to split.

"Janet here you can have this"

Katie gives me a small green book. I look at her confused.

"It's the novel. It's actually based off a book. I know you don't want to play it but at least this way you don't have to and we can talk about it together"

"Hmmm guess it's time to unlock my inner arsonist" I say as I carelessly flip through its pages.

"Don't set it on fire. I worked really hard to get the money to pay for that"

"Fine I'll read it if it'll get you to stop talking then any sacrifice is worth it"

I walk down my street and wave goodbye to my friends. Clutching the book tightly against my chest I sprint back home as fast as I can.
