Dave remained seated on the lounge for the rest of the night, his eyes will subconsciously stray to the sleeping figure on the large bed momentarily before he will continue his work.

The weight of being an Alpha is heavier than he had imagined.

Even now, he can not carelessly claim his mate as his because that decision will also affect the pack.

"Alpha"

Ralph called carefully through the mind link.

"Yes, what is it?"

Dave grumpily replied, if not for the thought that it might be an emergency. He would have blocked off the link.

"You have a visitor"

"Who?".

"I think it's best if you come out".

A silence follows Ralph's response before Dave cuts off the link.

Relieved to see that Ellen hasn't woken up, Dave quietly left the room.

Once he took a step out of his room he could hear a distinct commotion coming from just below his floor.

" I thought he said that it was a visitor, which kind of visitor is causing this kind of ruckus this early".

"What is going on here?" Dave asked, frowning on getting there.

Ralph bowed immediately in greeting and apology.

The other person standing with him immediately runs forward and leaps into Dave's embrace, hugging him.

"What is the meaning of this Summer?" Dave asked, pushing her aside.

"What have I done wrong? Why haven't you been picking up my calls?" The teary-eyed Summer.

"Oh, I have been quite busy with work". Dave felt short of words, his past actions were already coming back to haunt him, so soon.

"Just go, I will call you later". Dave said feeling a headache coming on.

"No, I won't, I thought you said you love me" Summer continues teary-eyed.

Dave grimaced at her statement.

"Ralph will escort you home, I will come when I'm less occupied".

"I want you to take me back instead". She continued stubbornly.

"Why should he?" a feminine voice countered, catching everyone off-guard".

"Can you not see how uninterested he is?" Ellen asked as she closed in on them.

She had woken up to the noise coming from somewhere in the building, and annoyed by the disturbance she had ended up finding the source of the noise and it turned out to be this.

"Oh, so it's you?".

Summer chuckles darkly, her former sorry self nowhere in sight.

"I heard he had gotten a new fling, I have no idea it will be a pathetic being like you. I will patiently wait till he is done with you because he will always come back to me". Summer said before turning around and leaving.

Ellen also returned to the room where she spent the night, she was a little angry even though she doesn't know why.

"Alpha, I have something to attend to. Send for me if you need anything" Ralph also made a quick exit leaving just Dave standing in the deserted hallway.

"I need room to stay while I'm here, I will be leaving very soon". Ellen said immediately after Dave entered the room.

"Why?" he asked grimly.

"Why what?".

"Why are you asking for a room when you can stay here and why are you leaving soon?". Dave asked, unable to hide his grumpiness.

"Did you fall and hit your head? if not then please give me a room" Ellen asked emotionlessly.

"Yes I fell but I don't know if I hit my head but it certainly hurt somewhere" Dave replied slowly walking close to where she was on the bed.

"Where then does it hurt?" Ellen asked innocently.

"Here," he replied, placing her palm on his heart.

The action made Ellen a little flustered.

The rhythmic thumping of his heart further confused her.

"I have fallen for you and my heart is currently hurting from that," Dave said in a low voice.

"You smell like her," Ellen said, suddenly pushing him away.

"Like who?".

"Your blond girlfriend that left earlier, she hugged you right?".

"Yes, she did but how can you smell her on me?". Dave asked suddenly at alert.

"I don't know, I just perceived a strange smell on you and I assume it belongs to her because it is a feminine smell".

"Aside from her smell, what do I usually smell like?" Dave asked, masking his excitement.

"Hmmm, your smell always differs depending on your mood I think. You have smelt like varieties of things before ranging from hot chocolate to mint". Ellen explained.

"what is it?" Ellen asked, looking at Dave's thoughtful expression.

"Nothing".

"So can I have a room now?" Ellen asked expectantly.

"Why do you want a room so that you can be able to call your lover freely?" Dave asked with a darkened expression.

"What do you mean? I don't have a lover even though that is none of your business". Ellen said hauntingly.

"It is my business but you are my-.

"My what?

My boss?

"Don't forget you coerced me into accepting this job".

Ellen raised her face a little higher to match his domineering look.

"Okay then, you can take the room across this one. Prepare for work because we will leave in an hour" Dave became expressionless as he gives out a couple of instructions.

"I thought you agreed to let me stay home because of the speculation going on about us at your company". Ellen said rapidly in panic.

"You have wasted a minute out of your one hour," Dave said simply before disappearing into the bathroom.

"That walking pile of shit" Ellen cursed angrily before storming out of the room.

Dave came out of the bathroom once she had left, lost in thought.

"Are you happy now?" Arran asked as he materialized into the room.

"The first thing you did after she came back was to annoy her, I had thought you would know better". He continued in a ridiculing tone.

"I'm in no mood for this". Dave replied without sparing him a glance.

"Okay then, my only advice to you is not to let any moment go to waste. You do not know how long you have with each other" Arran said in a sad tone.

"what do you mean?".

Before Dave could complete his question he had turned to nothingness leaving him alone in the room.
