Without a doubt, Gao Yang and his group had encountered an attack, although it wasn't aimed at them specifically. They had simply found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time, crossing paths with a Syrian Government Forces convoy and ending up as unintended victims.
Gao Yang and his team were far enough from the exploded IED, about a hundred meters away. At this distance, a roadside bomb would not be devastating, but it was still not safe enough.
The moment he saw the dust violently billow up, Gao Yang instinctively ducked his head, trying to shrink below the dashboard of the car. Then, he heard a strange tearing sound of metal.
Not feeling anything unusual on his body, Gao Yang suddenly looked up, only to see a palm-sized piece of metal that had pierced the upper part of the windshield, continuing backward, nearly splitting half of the car's roof.
"Ambushed! Get out!"
