Julian was clearly affected by her words. As someone who was walking on a path to power and status, her words were direct challenge to his own belief. 

If love really is the ultimate truth like she claims it is, then why would there be any differences among the people?

It simply isn't. The answer may be hard for some people to swallow, but it is the truth. Love itself creates differences. 

When a mother, a figure of an unconditional love, prays for her child to come out on top of the class, she herself is engaging in the first act of creating differences in the society.

This desire for superiority, rather than just wishing for her child to develop talents and skills, comes from her love itself.

Many of us believe in the existence of God, another example of an unconditional love. But what is the difference between God and us?
