Chapter 119: Secrets and Risks

Skye and Simmons are restless after Ward and Fitz's departure. The idea that the mission could be more dangerous than they were told is eating at them. Skye, being who she is, can't just accept Coulson's silence about what's going on. She convinces Simmons to break into the briefing room, claiming that as scientists they should know what they're up against.

The briefing room is relatively empty, with only the glow of the monitors illuminating the dark room. Skye and Simmons sneak in. Simmons is visibly nervous.

"I shouldn't be here," Simmons muttered, her heart racing.

"Relax," Skye said, as she plugged her laptop into one of the terminals. "We'll get the answer and get out of here. No drama."

Skye began hacking into SHIELD's system, searching for any mention of Ward and Fitz's mission. After a few minutes of searching, her face went pale.

— This can't be serious... — Skye murmured, her eyes wide as she read the screen.

Simmons stepped closer, feeling the same fear growing inside her.

"What is it?" she asked, her voice shaking.

Before Skye could answer, the door to the briefing room opened abruptly. Agent Sitwell stood there, his gaze perplexed.

"What are you two doing here?" he asked, his tone authoritative.

Simmons panicked. Before she could think, she grabbed the "midnight gun," an improvised tool that temporarily knocked out without causing permanent damage, and shot Sitwell. The agent fell to the ground, unconscious.

"What did you do?!" Skye exclaimed in disbelief.

"I... I didn't know what to do!" Simmons replied, clearly in shock. "He got us!" Skye took a deep breath, trying to stay calm.

"We need to get out of here, now!" The two of them leave the room, running towards their assigned area, trying to appear as normal as possible. The plan was simple: disappear before Sitwell regained consciousness.

Later, Skye is called to Coulson's office. When she enters, she already knows she's in trouble. Coulson is standing next to May, both of them with serious expressions.

"You and Simmons broke into the briefing room and knocked out Agent Sitwell," Coulson said, his voice calm but full of disapproval.

Skye crossed her arms, trying to maintain a defiant facade.

"And what else were we supposed to do? No one was telling us what was going on! I needed to know what was going on with Ward and Fitz!"

Coulson sighed, looking tired.

"Skye, there are some things that can't be said. Their mission is classified. You should know that."

Skye glared at him.

"Classified? You know they don't have an extraction planned, right? They're being sent on a suicide mission!"

Coulson kept his gaze fixed on Skye, not answering immediately. The room fell silent, and the weight of his words hung in the air.

"Skye, there are things you don't understand yet," he said finally. "Not everything can be revealed. That's part of being SHIELD."

Skye shook her head, clearly frustrated.

"This isn't right, Coulson. We can't just let people go on missions with no guarantee of their return."

Coulson simply repeated, his tone firm and unwavering.

"It's classified."
