Family Trouble

"Host, I can broadcast everything to you. Do you want to see?"

Well, that was better than eavesdropping. And using her magic making herself tired.

"Sure!"

"Brother!"

Cole Walden entered the room quietly. Totally opposite to the way he spoke to Rose. He entered directly without making an appointment too.

Was she going to get scolded?

Rose got up and walked behind him. She had to tell him that she tried to block this person.

He had not waited till she answered. Rude.

"Sir, this person didn't make an appointment. Can I take him out?"

No matter if he was a male protagonist or not if Asher said yes, she would throw this guy out.

"It's okay, Assistant Wyatt. Just cancel my meetings today."

Rose made sure he was okay before she left. It didn't look like he was out of his element and would suffer at the hands of this half-brother.

She would be fine if she could eavesdrop.

Rose sat in her office and waited for the system to start.

"Brother!"

Asher just sat there without answering. He was not exactly close to this half-brother who was just six years younger than him.

"Can I sit down?"

Asher nodded.

"Brother, I came back today."

Cole waited to see if Asher would respond. Seeing no reaction, he continued.

"We need the keys to the old house."

Asher frowned.

"You realize, it's in my inheritance. Everything I have is what my grandfather gave me."

Cole seemed speechless.

"But father, you can give him a step back. We just came back from abroad."

Asher raised his eyebrows.

Wow. He looked really cool, Rose thought.

"I think you know very well what father got. He has so many properties. You can live there. But you still ask for the old house. You see where I'm coming from, don't you?"

"But brother, we are family."

Asher smiled.

"Cole, you have a family. I don't."

Rose felt bad for him.

"Brother, you will always be my brother."

Asher shook his head.

"There are some things you should understand Cole. I will always be the son of your father's first wife to your mother. She will always hate me. Your father will not like me breaking up your little family. You may like it now. But later, when you think that I have an inheritance from Grandpa, you will resent me."

Rose felt that he was right.

There's no telling how much their relationship will break because they have interests involved. Money can make people monsters.

"But brother, I won't be like that."

That right there, would be a lie, at least according to the system. It was later when Cole took over everything, he acted as if he was the one who built this business empire.

It should be a red flag.

"No, Cole. I'm not getting involved in your family business and you can tell them never to meet me. We have had no relationship from the day Grandpa passed. And it's not going to start now. You can leave."

It was a clear eviction order.

Cole didn't sit there. He got up and Rose stopped the video playback.

She sat like a perfect assistant who was busy working. And not eavesdropping using a high-tech system.

She then watched Cole leave just like he appeared. Silent but threatening.

As an appointed bodyguard, she didn't like Cole.

He had ambitions and someone who wanted to get through with cheating is dangerous.

She was terrified that everything would go according to the plot. It seemed kinda unavoidable. But Rose will try to make the plot horse run away from the track.

"Boss, here are the documents that need your approval."

She entered the office and found Asher watching the skyline through his floor-to-ceiling windows.

Rose absolutely loved those. How nice they looked! Wow.

She felt that the view from there during nighttime should be marvelous.

"Ah, yes!"

He put on his business smile. There's a lot more to a person than what we see. Rose always thought that he was some kind of a boss who liked to torture her and that's it.

He liked to torture her but now she knew that he was some sort of a sensitive guy too. She had felt how happy he was when he was with his mother.

His happiness aura was so strong that she could almost see it and she wasn't an Aura Witch.

Surprising!

"Uh, boss, I think, you should make a will or something. In fact, I want to make one for my wand and my magic book. So, what do you say?"

Asher looked at her with a doubt.

"What? Will? It's a good idea. I made one last year."

Oh, right! She forgot. He was supposed to die in an accident like three years ago. So, he successfully avoided that one. And made a will.

It's definitely not possible for Cole to inherit Asher's property.

Then what could be the danger? Something should be. Because the plot abojt Cole will commence. And it will involve Asher. As she was his bodyguard, she didn't want him to be in danger. She could solve it but still, she didn't want the danger.

"But hey, you have a magic book? Can I see it?"

Rose felt embarrassed now.

"Uh, magic books don't show up for everyone, only for family. It's like the more you trust someone, the more it will materialize before you. They are really personal."

Asher nodded.

"Got it. Then your wand?"

That, she could do.

Her wand turned into anything she wanted. It was kind of exclusive to her.

Her bracelet detached and then before Asher's eyes, it turned into a wooden branch.

"Your wand is a tree branch?"

Yes, it was a plant she planted when she was a kid. That tree grew up great. And she didn't have a wand for a long time. That day, when she was sitting under the tree, the branches broke and then she formed a bond with it.

"Wow, can I touch?"

She nodded.

Apparently, the wand didn't like that. And when he touched, it moved towards Rose, dragging Asher.

And they fell. With him on her.
