Chapter 6 The Child Actually Survived?

"Hmm." Shao He cast a detached glance at him and then his gaze fell on the child, who was cradled by a woman and had a deep gash across his abdomen, his intestines already exposed.

"I can save this child," she declared.

"You can save him?"

Upon hearing this, disbelief washed over the man's face. Then he cautioned, "Miss, the child has fallen on a blade, the wound in his belly is so deep that his intestines are spilling out. You..."

"If I say I can save him, I can save him."

Shao He stepped forward and looked down at the infant in the swaddling clothes, carefully parting the clothing around him to examine the wound closely.

"I will need a clean room and some candles, and prepare some bandages as well."

The rest, I will have in the system.

"Miss, this child is beyond saving, you..."

Shao He's eyes flashed with sternness, "Keep dithering and this child truly will be beyond saving!"

On hearing this, the woman's pale face suddenly flushed with excitement.

She moved forward, ignoring her bloodstained knees, and began to kowtow vigorously on the ground with the child in her arms!

"Doctor! I beg you! Please let this lady try!"

The man's fists, resting on the table, clenched and unclenched.

After a long moment, he finally stood up, and as he passed Shao He, he sighed softly, "Very well, come with me."

Seeing this, Shao He followed the man into a small room.

Once everything was prepared, the man's gentle eyes grew serious.

"Miss, may I stay and observe?" he asked.

No sooner had the words left his mouth than he felt it amiss and hastily added, "Or I could assist you if need be."

Assist her?

Shao He glanced sideways at him.

No doubt he feared her medical skills weren't refined and that she might dissipate the child's remaining breath.

"Alright."

Shao He chuckled lightly, not calling out his concern, simply handing the child she carried over to him, "Since you wish to stay, then help me by holding the child."

No sooner had she spoken, a thought flickered through her mind.

A sharp surgical knife suddenly appeared in her palm, and then she deepened the wound on the child's abdomen even more!

"Miss, you!"

The man's eyes widened in shock, too late to ponder when exactly the dagger in Shao He's hand had appeared!

But Shao He didn't turn to look at him.

The child's intestines were already exposed, and a part of them had even ruptured!

Shao He's eyes narrowed with resolve, the dagger in her palm vanishing instantaneously to be replaced by an anesthetic, a silver needle, and the thread that appeared in her hand!

After administering the anesthetic to the child, she threaded the needle with fine string, speeding through the task of stitching the flesh of his abdomen!

The man by her side's eyes bulged, and even his other hand clutched suddenly tight by his side.

This woman was intent on suturing the child's belly closed!

It was preposterous!

"No!"

He quickly stepped forward, grabbing Shao He's wrist, "Miss, please, stop tormenting..."

"Wipe the blood."

Shao He's voice came curtly, cutting off his words. She glanced at him, saying, "Wipe while holding my child steady. No more talking."

The words the man wanted to say stuck in his throat.

After a moment of inner conflict, he finally followed Shao He's instructions, meticulously wiping away the spreading blood from the child's open belly.

When the surgery was completed, Shao He drew out a gauze from the system to wrap the child's wound. Then she wiped the sweat from her forehead and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Hand the child to me," she said, turning to extend her hand to the man.

"You..."

His voice quavering, the man was at a loss for words.

"My child! How is my child?!"

Just then, the woman's anxious voice arose from outside the screen.

The man was startled, hastily moving his fingers to feel the pulse on the child's wrist.

Yet the moment he detected a faint beating between his fingers, his pupils dilated with shock!

"The child?!" his heart pounded fiercely.

The child was actually alive?!
