Confession

"Who was he?" asked a voice behind me, and I jumped, hitting my head on the metal ceiling. Turning around, I was surprised to see Ma'stbaut behind me in the darkness of the vent shaft.

"I didn't think anyone else would fit in here," I admitted, ignoring his question. I knew the answer, but I didn't know if I was prepared to say it out loud just yet.

"It's not comfortable," admitted Ma'stbaut, shrugging his shoulders. He was practically the size of the tube, and there wasn't a lot of room for him to move. And yet, he still chose to come up here and follow me. "But if this is your preferred form of transportation, then I will learn to live with it."

"It's not," I sighed. Looking down, I made sure that the tile was back in place before crawling toward my mate. Sitting down in front of him, I rested my head against his chest. "I just needed to see something."
