"Excuse me?" asked Mei Xing, stunned. "Are you really blaming everything on me?!?"
I looked at her, cocking my head to the side as I studied the expression on her face. She really did see herself as everyone's savior. She thought that she was so far above Pippa Flynn that she couldn't see the forest for the trees.
But pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before the fall.
"Let me guess, you're the victim in all this," I nodded, walking back over to my chair and sitting down. I didn't care if I was the only one seated; I was trying to make a point.
"I didn't ask to be abducted and experimented on; I didn't ask for years of my life to just vanish," hissed Mei Xing, and the spider-like thing appeared hanging over her shoulder. The thing was massive, easily the biggest spider I had ever seen.
But I wasn't scared. I was too angry to be scared.
