The Chinese New Year of 2014 was quite late, extending into late February.
After visiting relatives on both sides, Chen Pingsheng pretty much didn't want to go anywhere else.
Contently at home, he made some dumplings, went fishing by the lake nearby, and comfortably spent his day like that.
It was supposed to be a great year, and as the end of the year approached, more people returned home.
Unfortunately, the weather had other plans, bringing a heavy snowstorm three days before the New Year, sealing off the mountains.
In just one night, the snow reached knee-deep.
The highways home were urgently closed, and government snowplows roamed the snowy streets one by one.
Luckily, they had returned home early this year; otherwise, given the situation, coming back later would have been difficult.
To work hard all year, just to be able to come home for the New Year.
And to then be stuck on the roads by the snow, one can imagine the frustration.
