"Sean, is there any water?"
Sean had dragged the two bodies to the iron gate and placed them against it. There were still dense crowds of zombies behind the gate.
Sean didn't know whether these two bodies were useful, but it was better than doing nothing.
"There's a water tower. I'll go check it out."
Carl nodded.
Sean walked to the water tower, which was made of iron and was also sealed.
He took out a dagger, stabbed it into the water tower, pulled out the dagger, and water flowed out.
Sean couldn't help but smile, and quickly put his mouth to the gap to catch the water.
As for whether the water here is clean?
Who knows? As long as there is no zombie soaking in it, it will be fine. It is so sealed that no zombie can fall in.
After taking several sips, Sean hurried back to Carl.
"Karl, there is water, but you have to go over and drink it. I don't have a container for water."
"Okay, help me." Carl stretched out his hand.
Sean directly grabbed Carl's hand and pulled Carl up. He saw that Carl's steps were too weak and he might fall down at any time.
Sean simply picked up Carl.
Although Carl was not used to it, he was powerless to struggle. Sean carried Carl to the water tower, where he took a few gulps of water before Sean helped him sit down.
"Sean, don't touch my left hand." Carl couldn't help but scream when the wound was touched.
"What's wrong?" Sean noticed that Carl's left hand was still bleeding. "What's wrong with your hand?"
"It's nothing. I cut myself. The blood can attract zombies."
"Why didn't you tell me earlier? Wait, I'll get something to bandage you."
Sean took out gauze from his backpack and took Carl under the stream to clean the wound. Only then did Sean notice that Carl's wound was quite deep.
"Carl, if you need blood, why don't you let me do it? Tell me, children can easily lose too much blood." Sean's tone sounded a little blaming.
Carl smiled and said, "Because you are the main combat force, and you have to carry a backpack, so you can't let your condition get worse."
Sean was bandaging the wound and kept muttering to himself, quite nagging.
Carl didn't take it seriously. If someone is willing to talk to you, it means they care about you. Who would say these things to a stranger?
After bandaging the wound, Carl interrupted Sean's nagging and said, "Sean, go to the rooftop and see if there are any zombies outside the building. Be careful."
Sean nodded.
Soon Sean came back with a grim look on his face, "Also, maybe most of the zombies in the school have been attracted here."
Carl sighed helplessly, "I don't know if Glenn can hold on until we get back."
"Karl, what you should be concerned about at this time is yourself and how we should leave. To be honest, I already regret putting you in danger for Glenn."
Carl smiled and said, "I came here not only because of Glenn, but also because of you, so that you won't regret it so much."
Sean was silent.
When Carl was in the car, Carl told Sean all those words and what should have happened.
Sean knew that under normal circumstances, he would frame his teammates and survive alone.
Of course, just because Carl said it doesn't mean Sean will believe it completely.
But Sean would think, if he really encountered an extremely critical situation, would he really do this?
Sean already knew the answer.
"Sean, you know what?" Carl glanced at Sean, then said to himself, "Actually, I don't mind you killing people, no matter how many you kill.
Because I believe you won't hurt me or my mother, and you are not a pervert who enjoys killing people.
I don't mind you abandoning your teammates, because you are just abandoning a stranger with whom you don't have much connection. I can understand it at the critical moment of life and death.
I believe you will not abandon me, so I came, and you did not abandon me, really, I don't mind what you do, what you will do, or what you have done.
But what I care about is that you shouldn't do this. You are not a bad person. If you abandon him, you won't be so confused and you will feel at peace.
I wouldn't come, but that wouldn't be you, and you wouldn't be likely to treat me and my mom like that, but you are you, so I came, and I can't let you do that.
It's not to save some passerby, but to prevent you from sinking into self-blame and regret."
Sean was silent.
After a while, Sean raised his head, looked at Carl, and said, "Carl, do you think it's worth it? Going through such a danger."
Carl smiled and said, "To be honest, I do regret it a little, but I've already done it. What's the point of saying whether it's worth it or not? Anyway, after I'm done and return to the farm safely, I'll slowly think about whether it's worth it or not."
Sean frowned slightly, took out another cigarette and lit it, without saying anything else.
Carl said, "Don't think about it now. The most important thing is to think about how to get back to the farm."
"Do you have any solution? We definitely can't go up the stairs." Sean glanced at Carl.
Karl nodded and said, "Wait, let's make a rope with clothes and climb down. Unfortunately, we don't have enough time. Otherwise, it would be safer to use curtains."
"Clothes?" Sean frowned slightly. "I don't think the rope made of clothes can bear my weight. Besides, even if all our clothes are added together, they are not very long."
"I'll go down first, to the seventh floor. Maybe I can find something useful there. At worst, there are curtains. As long as you make it rough, you should be able to go down."
Sean frowned slightly, thinking about the feasibility of what Karl said, and soon he said,
"It's very dangerous, and it's definitely not as easy as you think in the air."
Karl said helplessly, "What else can we do? We can't just wait to die here."
Sean thought for a long time and nodded. Although he didn't want Carl to take risks, there was no better way at the moment.
Karl said, "Let's rest for a while and then start. I'm feeling much better now."
Sean nodded and took off his coat. Sean's coat was not thick, which meant that while ensuring the quality, even if it was cut into strips and connected together, it would not be too long.
"I'll go see if the clothes of those two zombies can be used."
"Go ahead. It would be best if you have a belt."
It wasn't long before Sean came back with two dirty shirts and pants.
Carl frowned and said,
"Karl, I don't think this will work. These clothes made into ropes may allow you to reach the seventh floor, but there is no guarantee of their quality."
Karl said helplessly, "You think I want to, but there is nothing I can do about it. If I don't do this, there is no other way."
Sean frowned, trying to find a more reliable solution, but the result was just that his brows furrowed even more.
Calvin consoled him, "It's not a big problem. Just tear all the clothes into strips, connect them first, and then wrap them around each other. It should be fine. I'm not heavy."
"All right."
