Which Side Do You Choose?

The sun had already risen over the orphanage when Anna left her room and headed toward the dining hall.

The morning air was still chilly, and although the days at the orphanage weren't always easy, breakfast was usually a time when she could relax a bit and recharge.

As she crossed the hall, the chatter of the children filled the space; some were already sitting down eating, while others stood in line, waiting their turn.

Anna scanned the room for Edrick, who had asked her the day before which room she was from, and it didn't take long to spot him.

He was standing off to the side, a little more isolated than the rest, with an expression that spoke of someone lost.

His eyes darted around as if searching for something or someone to give him a sense of security, and when his gaze finally landed on Anna, his face softened a bit.

With a smile, Anna walked over to him and greeted him.
