Crossing the Wall

Whoosh...

A gentle breeze danced through the leaves, bringing me back to reality.

Looking down, I carefully touched my lower body to feel my legs and ensure they were still intact.

"That was painful..."

Glancing toward the wall, I narrowed my eyes, observing the sky above.

Being bitten in half was really a sensation I didn't want to experience again.

Krank... Krank...

Suddenly, right above my head, a Raven cawed loudly, startling me out of my daze.

Without even thinking, I knew this was the same bird that was devoured by the Wyvern in one bite.

I observed as it pierced through the night sky, its dark feathers appearing ethereal against the moonlit backdrop.

Like the last time, it seemed as if it would make it through the border but...

Roar...

A Wyvern appeared out of nowhere, its massive jaws closing in on the Raven with lightning-fast speed.

Crack...

The sound of bones shattering pierced the air as the Wyvern's powerful jaws clamped down on its prey.

I watched as the massive Wyvern swallowed the Raven whole, vanishing into the darkness once again.

"Monster..."

Muttering under my breath, I touched my abdomen where the Wyvern had attacked me earlier.

There was no way I was going to attempt crossing the border with that beast lurking somewhere in the sky.

I'd just rather climb over the wall than be bitten in half again.

"..."

Suddenly, I flinched as a cold gust of wind swept past me.

That's it, that was the way to avoid that beast!

Stay as close to the ground as possible and rather risk being seen by Soldiers than Wyvern.

Hmmm...

Massaging my temples, I quickly channel Kludde energy through my body, feeling my heart rate spike up and my entire body transforming into a beastly form.

Swish... Swish...

Stretching my Draconic Wings, I slowly lifted myself off the ground, moving closer and closer to the wall.

The closer I got to the structure the harder it was for me to control my Dark Mana.

This wall had the ability to nullify all Mana and it didn't require direct contact. The only way to avoid this was to have a special item given out to all members of the Demon Extinction Force, but I couldn't get my hands on such an item.

Anyways, I had to be quick and precise if I wanted to make it over the wall undetected.

As I approached the massive wall, I could feel the strange sensation of my Dark Mana being suppressed. This was the work of the wall's enchantment, meant to prevent any magical intrusions or bypassing attempts. I knew I had to be cautious, as the soldiers guarding the wall would be vigilant, especially during night times.

I strained my back muscles, controlling every beat of my Draconic Wings with precision. I stayed as close to the ground as possible, flying stealthily, almost brushing against the grass beneath me. The cold wind stung my scales, but I pressed on, determined to reach the wall undetected.

As I got within arm's reach of the wall, my heart pounded loudly in my ears. I was in a vulnerable position, and any sudden movements or noises could attract unwanted attention. The night seemed to grow darker, aiding in my concealment, but I dared not rely solely on the darkness.

I gradually raised myself higher and higher, my keen eyes scanning the top of the wall for any sign of guards. The moonlight cast long shadows, and I took advantage of them, ensuring my silhouette blended with the surrounding darkness.

My wings fluttered soundlessly as I inched closer, and I could now make out the details of the wall's marble work. The guards were stationed at regular intervals, and they paced back and forth, keeping a vigilant watch over the border. I needed to time my movements perfectly to avoid their gaze.

With utmost care, I extended my claws, finding slight indents in the marble to hold onto, allowing me to cling to the wall. I paused for a moment, steadying my breath and calming my nerves. This was the make-or-break moment.

Swish...

In one swift motion, I propelled myself upwards, pulling myself over the top of the wall with surprising agility for a creature of my size. My muscles tensed, my wings momentarily outstretched to ensure my ascent was as noiseless as possible.

I landed on the other side of the wall, crouching down to avoid detection. The guards, completely unaware of my presence, continued their patrol on the opposite side.

With a sigh of relief, I unfurled my wings once more, blending into the darkness as I navigated through the shadows. The journey was far from over, but I had successfully crossed the first major hurdle.

I continued on my path, staying low and close to the ground whenever I approached settlements or other potential hazards. The Wyvern's presence still haunted my thoughts, and I was careful not to draw any unnecessary attention to myself.

Roar...

However, a distant roar made my muscles relax as I realized that Wyvern was nowhere close.

I've officially made it to the other side of the wall...

This time in one piece!
