After a night of resting at the Pokémon Center in Dewford Town, Ash was finally ready for his second official Gym Battle in the Hoenn Region.
As a Pokémon Gym on the seaside, it had a not so light vacation atmosphere. The word "Fighting" is written on the big signboard on the entrance. Obviously, this is a Gym that specializing in using Fighting-type Pokémon's.
This is also another one of the many reasons on why Ash teleported his Sharpedo back to the Lab. The Dark/thep was really disadvantageous here. And Sharpedo not being able to move doesn't really help him either.
Finally, Ash and his party first decided to take a walk around Dewford Town Gym, which was obviously not suitable for him to take with him.
"Maybe the Trainers at the Gym here are just like Mr. Chuck at the Cianwood City Gym. Maybe they are also a muscular fighter." Brock guessed out his thoughts.
Indeed, this is the first impression a normal person have of a Fighting-type specialist. Whether it is Chuck from the Cianwood City Gym, or Bruno, the Fighting-type Elite from the Kanto and Johto Region, they all look like muscular men.
However, the Gym Leaser here is very different than they would have thought.
(Me here: My personal favorite of his design is definitely the ones from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. It fits more with his character and name.)
Just when they were about to open the Gym door, several young ladies rushed out of the Gum with surf boards, and behind them was a tall man with blue broken hair. He was in good shape and obviously exercises regularly, but not the very bulging muscles.
Under the beach clothes at this moment, they can see his well-proportioned figure.
The man immediately noticed Ash and his group at the door, "Hello, who might you be?"
"I am Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, I'm here to challenge the Gym." Ash got straight to the point, he came here to battle, so no need to wasted time.
Hearing this, the man nodded immediately, "Hello then, I'm Brawly, I am also the Gym Leader of the Dewford Town Hall!"
As he spoke, Brawly showed an apologetic smile, "I'm very sorry. Until yesterday, the sea was buzzing and roaring with dangerously large waves. But today is very different. The face of the sea is very beautiful here, so can we fight tomorrow?"
Seeing him holding the surf board, Ash smiled and said, "So the waves on the sea are very good today. Are you planning to go surfing today?"
"Yes, Ash, are you interested?" Brawly looked at Ash appearance and invited him with a smile.
Of course he was interested, Ash has long discovered that such exercise can greatly increase his Bond Value between his Pokémon's and himself.
Whether it was him who first practiced riding flying together, or the Tauros and Lapras who later practiced racing together, or even the Latias who helped pull the reins later, their Bond Value had greatly improved in events that focused on coordination like this.
How could Ash miss such a good opportunity when it was welcoming him like this.
"Haha, you are an interesting person, Ash." Brawly immediately felt that he had met someone just like him, he casually took out a blue surf board and handed it over, put his arm on Ash's shoulder, and rushed to the beach.
"Ash..." May also became excited, "Let's go swimming too!"
"That's right. Swimming with those girls must be the best!" Brock also looked longingly at them.
The beach on Dewford Island was really beautiful. The waves were indeed very good today. No wonder Brawly was so excited about it.
"Okay, let's go!" Brawly threw out a Poké Ball, "Makuhita, let's take off!"
This Makuhita was definitely trained nicely, he can actually surf so well. Looking at its strong lower body, and the confidence that was radiating off of it clearly indicates that.
"Ash, how about you?" Brawly and Makuhita were already in place, and saw that Ash was also holding a Poké Ball.
Ash nodded, "Treecko, let's have some fun!"
Treecko was still looking cool while holding the small branch in his mouth.
Treecko looked to a little excited at this as if he knew what was going to happen next.
Ash looked at it and smiled slightly, "Brawly, how about a competition?"
"Haha, you are really interesting, I am happy to accompany you in thsi!" Whether it is a Gym Battle or a surf battle, Brawly will not hold back.
"Then it's decided. Treecko, let's go!" Ash stood on his surf board with Treecko and headed towards the waves.
His current skills and physical fitness are absolutely comparable to those of Fighting-type Pokémon. Even if he has never surfed the waves before, he can still quickly learn how to balance on the waves.
But Treecko can only lie on all fours on the surf board at first.
He was not as cool as before.
"Treecko, try to stand up slowly, feel the breath of the waves, and follow its swing to control your body!" Ash immediately detected Brawly's way of training his Fighting-type Pokémon's.
In fact, each Trainer has their own way of training their Pokémon on their own fighting style.
They can't say who is better or worse at it, after all, the one that suits you and Pokémon are the best, at least for you.
So the current Ash will only occasionally leave Pokémon with others for training. It's not that he doesn't know how to train them, but that other people do have things that he doesn't have, and those things are more suitable for his Pokémon than how he could train them.
As a Fighting-type Trainer, Brawly, Chuck, and Bruno obviously have completely different fighting styles in their straightforward fighting styles.
Ash was looking forward to playing against him.
After hearing Ash's encouragement, Treecko slowly relaxed his arms and began to try to stand up from the board. This was not such a severe test for him as he was used to live on large trees, but once he got used to it, he would definitely make rapid progress.
Unlike Ash's Venusaur or Meganium, Treecko and his the final evolved form, Sceptile, follow the path of going for quick attacks, which is more in line with Ash's fighting style, and Ash was also full of expectations for his future style.
Treecko slowly stood up, but soon his feet became unstable and he almost fell. Ash held him up with a flash of pink light in his eyes.
"Treecko, come on, with me behind you, nothing will happen to you. Trust me."
Feeling the protection and gentle voice of Ash, Treecko became more courageous. He still held the branch in its mouth with a serious look in its eyes, imitating the posture of Ash.
He was treating the surf board as a small branch and the wakes as strong winds that are trying to make him fall.
Treecko: 140/160
"Ash, you are really good at this. I'm really looking forward to battling against you tomorrow!" Brawly came over to him and admired Ash after seeing the scene just now.
Makuhita was also cheering on for Treecko. Unexpectedly, his own feet became unsteady because of this, which made him so nervous that he was quickly concentrating his energy, but his heavy body was not so easy to stabilize.
He was about to fall into the water.
Ash's eyes flashed with pink light again, helping it stand firm, "Brawly, let's begin our competition now!"
"I'm happy to accompany you!"
Treecko: 145/165
Looking at Ash and Brawly who were having fun at sea, Brock smiled and said, "Ash is getting more and more better at understanding his role as a Trainer. Looks like I can't lose to him like this!"
Max stood next to May, looking at Ash's and Treeckos figure from a distance and looking at his sister in a swimsuit next to him, "May, please do your best too. Its definitely extremely rare to meet someone as powerful as Big Bro who lets us travel together with him!"
"Don't worry, I'm not just playing now!" Standing next to May were her Torchic and Wurmple.
She was already ready to participate in her next Pokémon Contest.
