An Announcement... Locking Down The Capital

Sorry for shortness of the chapter, I was super busy today and wanted to get something out to you all!

Please enjoy anyway...

////////////////////////////////

With Shuna to my side I stood on a wooden podium that oversaw the main square of the city. The area was filled despite its massive size as tens of thousands of citizens awaited my words. The venue being so full that there were people sitting on the balconies of adjacent buildings and the roofs of said buildings, just to listen to me.

I had never done this in my past life. Killing and public speaking were two different skills. Unluckily for me, there was no substitute at this moment and the situation called for a speech from myself. Maintaining my strong posture I stood behind the podium, the bright blue and cloudy sky framing my figure as I finished the last seconds of my preparation. Thaumaturgy activated as a careening vibration of sound transmitted throughout the square ensuring my voice would be heard. With a small tap of my finger in mid-air I checked the spell's effect, the tapping noise filtering out into the square, all chat and noise slowly dying out along with it.

My heart was beating out of my chest, but I knew that I had no choice, responsibility was a bitch and one that I could not dodge or skip out on. Shuna looked at me with worry across her face but also had small micro-movements that showed she supported me with her whole heart. Milim was also there, standing beside Shuna, but she was utterly silent and staring at me. Slightly worried about her reaction I exhaled and began my announcement.

"Ahum! Hello to everyone, I have come here to announce some rather dire information and the immediate solutions we have taken to face the, threats." The entire crowds' mood shifted into one of nervous anger, their emotions sourced from the disruption to their livelihoods.

"I will skip the usual political bullshit. There are currently one million soldiers from the Falmuth Kingdom on their way to the capital. Currently there are no other targets as far as we can detect. Along with these one million troops there will also be thousands of Paladins from the Western Church, Hinata Sakaguchi leading them."

There was some gasps and cries out in anger. At first I thought it was at me but this idea was quickly ousted when numerous citizens cried out their support, voicing out that they would fight for Tempest. Enthusiasm was the word now as the entire square burst out into angered shouts of unity, many Goblins, Kijin, Dwarves, Demi-Humans and other species all raising their fists into the air. Some held swords whilst others wielded tools of their trades. Using this momentum I continued my speech.

"Effective immediately the Military shall activate! All Citizens are to remain within the bounds of the Capital City, as of this moment the Defense of Tempest begins!" The soldiers arranged around the square all slammed the butts of their spears into the ground. The citizens all looked around, many women and children recoiling back in fear as naturally they worried for their loved ones. War was never clean but hopefully my efforts will prove to protect these pour innocent souls, even if their flesh may die. Steel-hard determination flittered through my soul as I began to draw on my past life's memories.

"I will not call on the men to join the Military involuntarily! But, I have a request! If there are women and children near you that are under threat, try your best to protect them. Without our children we have no future." A communal shout of masculinity resounded and reverberated across the cityscape as the women and children suddenly felt all the more secure and safe.

"We shall vanquish the enemy in such a way that they never consider versing us in such a way ever again! This I promise to you!" Yet again a booming applause and whistles ensued as my eyes flashed in radiant golden light. It wasn't intentional but it made the scene all the more impacting. Not to toot my own horn but I felt like the God Emperor of mankind right now, except for Tempest, and, you know, Humans.

...

Finished with my speech I raised my hands and called upon the wards I had placed not too long ago. All along the exterior forest of the capital there were trees seeping shadow outwards and then upwards, before the shadow amalgamated into a massive barrier that covered the entire city. No change to the usual appearance of the city was made, the sun and moons still being visible. However, now, the city could withstand significant attacks from magical sources or physical, the trees being bolstered with the magic too. Along with the wards came one of my spells, Syphoning Maze of Solaris being carved into the very fabric of the wards and aegis.

Everyone that attacks or attempts to enter or exit without my permission would be stuck inside my spell, their life force and stats being syphoned by me. In small amounts this would be negligible, against millions however? Purely Broken... My cultivation would sunder through the sky massively with every soldier they sent to test us. After my magic was reinforced i quickly exited the podium, running into Yuna who was looking at me with a serious expression.

"You do know we're fucked if Rimuru doesn't come here?"

"No, we are not... You don't know everything going on... Come with me and I'll show you."

Her countenance was getting very comfortable of late but now she was on edge. Not in a trained manner but in a concerned and sisterly way, her very atmosphere shifting into alertness around her.

"What do you mean I don't know? I know you do a lot of work but how could you have done anything else amidst fucking Milim, Shuna and your work?"

"A lot, that is all i would say. Plus, you need to chill."

"Nah, calming down is for losers. Anyway, show me what you have done then 'oh wise one'."

"I was going to do that anyway?" Shuna chuckled at our conversation as I dragged an entourage behind me. Many civilians shouted at me from behind armed soldiers, their shouts encouraging and blisteringly patriotic for a new nation. It seemed that cleared from their mind control they appreciated everything I had done for Tempest. I only wished that Rimuru would come back and take up his respected position too. Souei was on that as we speak. It would take two days at the maximum speed for Rimuru to get here. Souei would take a day due to his shadow movement, therefor Rimuru would be getting back in three days. The soldiers would appear tomorrow, meaning we would have to survive for two days.

'We can do it... I know we can... Then, I can evolve alongside Rimuru and possibly Yuna.'
