Chapter 4

Title at the end.

===============

I quickly stored the treasure chest in my inventory and rushed out of the warehouse. In a dark alley, someway away, I washed up and changed my clothes with some new ones I stole from "The Antique House". After getting cleaned up I rushed to the hotel where I first "spawned" in this world and dashed into my room. The entire time I was using Shadowcraft to avoid interacting with anyone or getting anyone's attention. Once in my hotel room, I take a quick shower. After getting dressed I lay on my bed.

"What the fuck just happened" I whisper to myself.

You see I was never the violent type before but here. Here it was too easy and too...Thrilling.

After taking a moment to calm down I finally open my system window.

Who would have thought that cutting up a few grunts would fetch me a new skill, but no rewards? And speaking of rewards there is still that "Mystery reward" I have not claimed yet.

pulling up my wrist I check the time. This new watch I stole had an uncanny similarity to a Patek Philippe Nautilus.

"Shit It's 6:25 pm" I curse. I rush to get dressed for the date.

{Scally Wagg Pirate ship, the Scally Dog}

Captain Scally Wagg was staring down a scarred and bandaged short grunt.

"So you're tellin me some limp prick killed Borris?" Said Scally Wagg in annoyance.

"Yes captain, he killed Johnson too!"

"SEARCH ALL OF LOUGETOWN! AND IF YOU PATHETIC LOT CAN'T FIND HIM I'LL KILL YOU ALL!" Captain Scally Wagg shouted at his crew.

"AND YOU!" he said pointing his saber at the poor grunt.

"You better pray to the heavens above that we find that chest or else you'll be begging for death by the time I'm done with you!" said Captain Scally Wagg eater of the Mythical Kemono Kemono no Mi, Model: Lycanthrope and a bounty of 12,000,000 belli.

Nestled in the heart of the bustling port town, the Gold Roger Bar stands as an unassuming establishment, its weathered exterior blending seamlessly with the surrounding buildings. Upon entering, one is greeted by the warm, dimly lit ambiance, the air thick with the scent of aged wood, and the faint aroma of spirits. The bar itself is a long, polished counter, tended by a seasoned bartender, Raoul, who moves with the practiced efficiency of one well-versed in their craft. Lining the walls are shelves stocked with a diverse array of liquors, their labels hinting at the establishment's eclectic clientele.

As I step into the Gold Roger Bar, I'm struck by the unexpected emptiness of the establishment, despite the relatively early hour of the day. However, this is how I imagined it to be, making it the perfect setting for a private conversation. Approaching the bar, I catch the eye of the seasoned bartender, Raoul, and request his finest non-alcoholic beverage. He scoffs at me and nods wordlessly, his movements efficient and practiced. Settling into a seat, I take a moment to survey the familiar surroundings. The weathered wooden surfaces, the eclectic collection of nautical trinkets, and the faint scent of aged spirits all contribute to the bar's well-worn, yet comforting ambiance. It's a place that has undoubtedly borne witness to countless stories and conversations over the years.

To my surprise, Raoul served me guava to which I happily obliged and waited for my date.

At exactly Seven on the dot, Robin walks into the bar. She gives it a brief sweep with her eyes almost as if to check that no one is here but us. She smiles and approaches the counter to sit next to you.

"Right on time Miss All Sunday" I say to her with a warm smile.

"Yes, I thought it would be best if I was on time," she says smiling back at me. I can tell that some of the nervousness she was having entering the bar is slowly winning away.

"Yeah, I would like one please"

"Raoul another one of these guavas for the beautiful miss" I say as Raoul smiles and gets her drink ready.

Her cheeks turn a shade of red at you calling her beautiful miss " but you can tell she is trying to contain her emotions while staying calm. she looks at Raoul as he brings the drink

"Thank you," she says to Raoul calmly while maintaining her calm expression.

"So, I believe you have some questions that I would be happy to answer"

"Yes, you are right... I remember asking you about missing history and you replied by saying that there is more history than just what is officially known by the public....." she says."so what do you want to know?"

"Well you're right, I have a lot of questions but I'll start by... How do you know about me?"

This question throws me a little off guard.

"what do you mean"

"I mean that you clearly know more about me than what I have led others to believe...and that you recognized me when you saw me at the poneglyph pavilion." keeping her cool demeanor and replying with a smile.

This woman is too smart I have to be extra careful here.

"Well that depends"

"On what?"

"On whether I'm talking to Miss All Sunday or...Nico Robin"

Her body suddenly tenses when you mention her real name. She tries to contain her shock but her hand shakes a little bit.

"you are probably now worried but I implore you to give me a chance"

she takes a deep breath as she slowly calms down

"Alright...." she lets out a sigh

"You have my undivided attention....so go ahead and explain"

"I can't tell you how I know what I know but if it's any consolation I'll tell you this. No one in their right mind would call an 8 year old a Demon and give them a bounty unless they are Demons themselves." I say

Taken aback from what I just said she slowly nods her head and says her voice quivering.

"You're right on that one..."

"And you... Nico Robin, are no demon" I say smiling at her.

"Thank you for that." she smiles back cautiously.

"I know trust takes time to build so how about this? I join the Baroque works as a mercenary bounty/hunter and you be my partner. that way you always have your eye on me while I work to gain your trust"

Her eyes widen a bit when she hears my offer to her.

"That is an interesting proposition...I admit so myself but, what do I have to gain from becoming your partner?"

Again and again, she continues to prove she is not some simple dame. But I know what makes her tick.

"what if I said that by becoming my partner and helping me with my ultimate goals I will create a world for you where you will never have to hide, never feel rejected, and will never be alone! I promise you one day I will crush not only the world government but those who rule over them and even one above those with these very hands! And I want you to be there with me every step of the way"

Listen, if this doesn't rizz her up knowing her backstory I don't know what will...

"You would do all that for me?" her eyes are wide open in amazement.

"I do need your help after all... so will you join me, partner?" I reach out my hand towards her.

her hand hesitantly takes mine while she looks at me with a cautious gaze. I can tell that she still has some doubts.

"I will become your partner.....but I will not follow you blindly without knowing your true intentions."

"That's fine by me"

"That's good to know because I've had my fair part of people betraying me so I am very cautious about trusting someone, especially someone I've just met. "she says her hand still holding on to mine.

"so with that out of the way how about I treat you to a real date I know a fancy restaurant near here. we talk more about politics and history but more importantly, get to know each other better" I say gently squeezing her hand at the last part.

"That sounds....lovely. I'd like that..."
