Dreams from beyond

I dream of a man when I sleep. I see him every night in my dreams. I'm scared of his midnight eyes, which hold an ocean of darkness in them. Yet his hair reminds me of the golden dawn after the long, dark night. He gazes at me like a bird of prey and strolls towards me with longing in his eyes.

My mind wants to run away from his shadows, yet my heart yearns for something more. His perfect olive hands touch my face sweetly. His very touch soothes my soul. He holds me close with his strong arms, as if I were his. May the man I dream of never come true, yet my heart still wishes it to be true.

The alarm on my phone rang, waking me up to reality. I sat up on my bed and took a breath of relief. Why am I seeing these things? I wondered. What kind of dreams are they, or if they are dreams? I wasn't sure. I took a deep breath and got up from my bed. Even though my morning didn't start out great, I refuse to let it ruin the rest of the day. Besides, today is the first day of school. That reminded me that I needed to pick up Elena.

We, are supposed to go together. I hopped in the shower and turned the shower on. As I was showering, I closed my eyes, and I was reminded of him again. I opened my eyes quickly and just shook these thoughts away. I needed to focus. After the shower, I got quickly dressed and went downstairs.

Dad was away on a business trip, so I was alone in the house. I went into the kitchen and got some cereal and milk. I took it and went into the living room, turned on the TV, and started eating. A couple went missing yesterday outside of town. Poor guys. I finished the cereal and put the bowl away in the kitchen. I took my keys and got out of the house.

Getting in my car, I quickly took off to Elena's house. As I was driving, I got a text from her asking when I was coming over. I texted back and drove a little faster. I picked up Elena from her house, and we were on our way. "Hey Bonnie." Elena asked in her usual cheerful voice, yet it didn't feel as real. "Hey, had a good sleep last night?"

She nodded. "I did." She looked towards me, and questioned, "How about you?" I couldn't tell her about the dream because even I wasn't too sure about it myself, and what if she thinks it's something else?.

So I just nodded, and, trying to change the conversation, I just said, "So Gram says that I'm a psychic. Our ancestors were from Salem, witches and all that."

She looked at me like she heard something crazy. She's not alone on this one. "I know, crazy, but she's going on and on about it." I laughed a little about and continued on jokingly, "I'm like, "Put this woman in a home already."But then I started thinking: I predicted Obama, and I predicted Heath Ledger. And I still think Florida will break off and turn into little resort islands."

I looked towards her, and she was looking out of the car; she seemed lost in thought. I called her out, "Elena, back in the car." She looked down, shook her head and said in a very low tone, "I did it again, didn't I? I'm sorry, Bonnie." She looks at me and recalls what I had said to her: "You were telling me that..." I chimed in with her, "That I'm a psychic now." She chuckled and asked, "Alright, then predict something about me?"

I looked at her and was about to say something. That's when something came crashing on the windshield. I got scared and tried to pull over. Pumping up the breaks, and the car did come to a stop after swerving a little to the side. As I gasped for air and looked at the windshield and, asked, "What was that? Oh, my god." I looked at Elena and asked, "Elena, are you okay?"

She looked a little shook but nodded to reassure me, "It's okay, I'm fine." I took a deep breath and apologized. "It was like a bird or something. It came out of nowhere." She shook her head and said, "Really, I'm fine. I can't be freaked out by cars forever."

I smiled and proclaimed, "I predict this year is going to be kick-ass. And that all the sad and dark times are over. And you are going to be beyond happy." She smiled and nodded in agreement, and we went on our way.

We reached our school, Mystic Falls High School. We saw so many faces that we had already seen so many times, yet so many of them looked different now. Maybe it's because of the summer. New faces are something of a rare commodity here.

As we were walking through the hallway trying to get to our lockers, I decided to air my grievances about the lack of good-looking guys in our school and about the very weird fashion choices of some of the girls. As I was talking to her about all this, I saw Matt looking at Ellen like a wounded puppy.

She saw the look in my eyes and turned to see him and waved at him, but the lack of response from him got her feeling down again: "He hates me."

I told her that he doesn't and to give it some time, and she nodded. Suddenly, Elena was ambushed by Caroline, and she asked her if she was okay. Then she asked me, like, if she was lying and all, but that's just Caroline. She left just as suddenly as she came, and we looked at each other and decided not to; it's still early for Caroline.

As we were walking to our class, I stopped Elena and asked, "Who is that?" We both looked at a guy dressed in a black leather jacket and blue jeans, with blonde hair and sunglasses. I looked at him, and she said, "All I see is a back."

I chuckled softly and said, "That's a hot back."

Both of us waited for him to turn around, and I mockingly said, "I'm sensing Seattle, and that he plays the guitar."

Elena chuckled and looked at me and said, "You're really going to run this whole psychic thing into the ground, huh?"

I shrugged my shoulders and said, "Pretty much." Both of us chuckled, but Elena saw Jeremy and went after him. After a few moments, he turned around, and he looked gorgeous, and I wasn't the only one who thought that; it was every girl who stopped and turned around to ogle him.

I saw Elena running into him on his way to the bathroom; that's such a weird meet cute. They talked for a little while, and Elena walked away, and I looked at her, and she said, "Maybe you are psychic."

I groaned and said, "I don't want to be..."

--------------------------------------------

We were sitting in Mr. Tanner's History class; it's one of the most dreadful parts of our school. He takes a sick pleasure in humiliating students; it just makes me wonder what happened to him and that he is such an ass.

As I was suffering through his insufferable lecture, I saw Elena and the new guy exchanging looks. It's good for her, that she is moving on. When will I get someone?

---------------------------------------------------

After the school was over, I went back home and did some school work. Grams was gone to teach her occult classes in college, and I had too much free time on hand. I texted Elena and Caroline to see if they wanted to hang at the grill, and they said yes. I got dressed and made my way over to the grill.

As soon as I got inside, I felt something; it was just like the dream that I had. Across the room, I saw him with the same midnight eyes, olive skin, and golden hair; our eyes clashed, and I felt electric. He looked at me the same way and smiled. It was like something out of a movie.

I was torn between wanting to speak with him and being afraid of him. What was happening to me? After speaking with Matt, he came over and we spoke. The more he talked, the more he grinned, and the more I adored him.

He looked at someone behind me, and it was Elena and Caroline, but for some reason Stefan was with them as well.

He asked me about Elena, and I felt a little sad. I asked him why, hoping it was something else. He smiled and shrugged his shoulders and said, "Just curious." His answer was a little odd, but it did seem to be just curiosity after all.

They came over to the table, and Stefan and him exchanged looks like they had known each other for years, and I asked him, "How do you two know each other?"

He looked at Stefan and asked, "Want to tell them?" Stefan looked at him and slightly nodded, and he smiled and said, "I'm his big bro."

Elena looked at Stefan and might have questioned why he didn't tell her.I was in the same boat as her. It's not like I'm as bad as Damon. He looked at me and asked, "What are you doing here?"

I looked at him jokingly said, "I'm hurt, Stefan… I truly am. Why would I need a reason to see my little brother?" He pursed his lips and I smiled and looked at Elena and said, "I'm sorry about his manners… please sit."

Stefan looked at me and I gave him a look back and Elena confusingly sat down. "Don't mind me." Caroline chuckled and sat next to me.

"So Tommy… what do you do?" Caroline rested her chin over her hand and asked, Stefan moved a chair from the nearby table and sat down with us, he did not look comfortable.

I tilted my head and said, "Well, I'm between jobs, right now…"

Elena looked confused and asked, "You aren't in school?"

I shook my head and Stefan said, "He graduated early… he was supposed to go to college. Weren't you?"

I rolled my eyes and said, "And I did… but it was boring." Bonnie smiled and Caroline chuckled a little but Elena remained curious.

Caroline chimed in "So how long are you here for?"

I looked at Stefan and said, "I was thinking of staying here for a few days… but now…" I looked at Caroline and said, "Who knows?"

The waitress came with my burger and beer and I rubbed my hands together and I said, "I'm not big of a sharer so you guys might wanna order your own."

"An ice tea for me." Caroline said "Same" "Same" the other girls said while Stefan looked at the waitress and said, "Coffee."

She nodded and walked away, I took a bite of my burger and it was good. "So both of you were born here?" Caroline asked.

"Yes" "No" Stefan and I looked at each other and they all looked at us with confusion. I slumped my shoulders and said, "Awe come on, you can say it… it's not like it wont come up again."

Bonnie looked confused and asked, "What do you mean?"

I took a sip of beer and said, "I'm adopted."

It got the mood of the table down "You didn't have to." Stefan said as he looked at me.

"Come on, it's nothing…" I said to them and Bonnie asked, "What about your parents?"

I let Stefan talk don't want anymore blunders "They passed away." They looked at me as I was eating and I just nodded.

The waitress came with the drinks, "I'm sorry." Elena looked at him and said with a sigh, it looks like she knows the feeling. Stefan nodded

Caroline looked at both of us and said, "So since both of you are new, then you don't know about the party tomorrow."

I looked at her and then I looked at Stefan and I was a little excited about it, "It's a back to school thing." Bonnie looked at me and said with a slight chuckle.

"Damn." I cursed I took a sip of beer and Bonnie chuckled and said, "You can come if you want to?" She looked at Stefan and said, "You too."

I looked at her and Stefan asked Elena, "Are you going?"

"Yeah, she is" Bonnie, enthusiastically chimed in

And one of the most telling signs showed on Elena, the putting her hair behind her ear and smiling with the sparkle in the eyes.

I wasn't able to stomach that and I said, "Stefan, is uncle Zack there?"

He nodded and I said, "Good…" I got up on my seat and I said, "I should go now. I'm tired."

Bonnie looked at me and I said, "Oh yeah, what's your no?"

Elena looked at Bonnie and she gave it to me and I smiled and said, "I'll call you when I get to the party. Text me the deets."

I walked over to the waitress and I looked at her and asked, "Are you free?"

She nodded and I asked, "Can you come with me, right now?"

She nodded and said, "Let me just go and talk to the manager." I nodded and I said, "I'll be waiting outside." I winked at her and she was walking away but I stopped her and handed her the money for the food and a big tip.

I turned around and Stefan was giving me the stink eye and I walked past them and I said, "See you at home, brother."

I walked outside and I got in my car and I started it, the waitress came out and so did Stefan. He tried to stop her and I said, "Go to your date, Stefan."

"It's not right." Stefan said with an annoying amount of self-righteousness and I sighed and said, "I promise I will return her to her home, safe and sound." he looked at me and I said, "I can pick someone else as well Stefan."

He grunted and let her go and she hopped in the car and I chuckled and said, "Relax Stefan, learn to live a little. Oh, sorry."

I turned on the car and the radio played Summer of '69. I revved the engine and we were away.

The good thing about the new Salvatore estate was that it was away from prying eyes. "I'm Wendy by the way." The waitress looked at me and I smiled and said, "Hi, Wendy the waitresses. I'm Tommy. You can call me Tom by the way."

She nodded and asked, "Where are we going?"

I looked at her and said, "Well, I'm going home, after I finish my dinner. The next is all up to you."

She didn't understand looked at me and I looked her in the eyes and I said, "Whatever I say and whatever I do. Do not panic." I smiled and asked, "You understand?"

She smiled and nodded, "So Wendy, we are here." We were in front of the manor and she looked at me and asked, "You are a Salvatore?"

I smiled and nodded, "Now… would you like to come inside, so that I can feed on you?"

She looked at me with her eyebrows raised and asked, "How much?"

I smiled and said, "A little, but I promise after I'm done, I'll leave you better than new. You won't feel a thing… you might even enjoy it."

She smiled promiscuously and said, "Okay."

Stepping out of the car I knocked on the door and Zack opened the door and greeted me with his signature brooding look, he might have inherited that from Dad.

"Tom." Zack said with a lack of enthusiasm in his demeanour

I smiled and said, "Zack?" He didn't budge and I rolled my eyes and said, "You really should know better, by now."

"I do."

"I don't want to do this, I have a date with me… just get out of the way." I walked past him with Wendy. I turned around and said, "I'll have a talk with you in the morning about your behaviour with Stefan."

He shut the door and stood there with his arms folded. I turned around and picked up Wendy and threw her over my shoulder, she yelped and giggled, "I'm off to have diner." I smacked her ass and made my way to my room.
