Impending War

King Arnold Vancaster was a household name. His name struck fear in the hearts of many. His family had enacted terrors for generations, and just bearing the Vancaster family name was enough to instill dread.

He was the sort of king you didn't want to mess with, as he had the power and forces to carry out whatever he wanted. It was a bad idea to have such a king as an enemy. She had never met him and doubted she ever would.

His Kingdom itself, Windforth, was quite some distance from her father's kingdom. However, one of his colonies shared borders with Landerfell, and she knew how keen King Arnold was about spreading his political influence. If her mother said he threatened her father, whether directly or indirectly, he definitely did.

Bel ground her teeth. Windforth was not a kingdom they could go against. They had already lost Asrel and a lot of soldiers with it. If war were to break out now, Landerfell would fall.
