A little guilt

"Why are doing this?" Kian asks in anger. "A normal human would be scared to death with a secret like that but you had the guts to come to me and question me."

Daphne fakes a sad expression at the Kian harsh glare. She wondered if the reason he was acting like this was because he felt like he had been pushed to the corner with no way out, if that was the case, Daphne thought that it was perfect. That was exactly what she wanted from him.

"Are you doing this because I refuse to date you?" Kian asked in an incredulous tone. He didn't know if he was right, but he found it hard to believe that was it. Daphne barely knew him, she had no reason to go that far because of a guy like him. No girl in their right mind would. Kian knew that, but Daphne's behavior was starting to make him doubt what he knew, even though he still couldn't understand why.

"What?!" Daphne asked in confusion. Her cheeks became red with embarrassment. Dating him was what she wanted at first, but not anymore. She didn't need to date him to get what she wanted.

"Is this because I keep telling you to leave me alone?" Kian asks, still sounding incredulous. "Rejecting you is actually for your good, you don't want to be with a guy like me. You don't want that. I can't explain it too but just trust me about it." Kian hoped that his reasonable words could get through to Daphne.

'who are you to tell me what is good for me?' Daphne thought in anger. Back then when her father was alive, he always told Daphne about what she should and shouldn't do. Sometimes he forces Daphne to do the things he wants from her. Daphne used to hate his and Elina's nagging, but now she missed them. But she was tired of people telling her what she should do and what was supposedly right for her. Noah had stupidly convinced her to marry him, with her father's supposed last word and she almost fell for it. Daphne felt angry with herself when she thought about her past.

"Everything you said about me trusting you is just another way to reject me isn't it?" Daphne asks in anger. She didn't want to date Kian anymore but she couldn't control the sudden rage that came to her when Kian sounded like he was rejecting her again. Her whole plan was to get him to obey her like a slave, not a lover.

'maybe the reason I feel like this is because I don't like losing.' Daphne thought. Her anger must have been because Kian was the first man to turn her down. With his secret, she could turn him into her lover and still make him her slave. That way, she wins both ways. Daphne wasn't going to accept defeat.

"Since you can't accept me," Daphne shouted at Kian. Her voice was louder than she intended. This wasn't how she had wanted to deal with Kian, but she thought back to how Kian always pushed her away without even bothering to give her a minute of his time, Daphne got angry. The only reason he was speaking to her, of his own will, wasn't because he was locked up like last time, but because he wanted her to keep his secret. "I want you to know that," Daphne continued speaking, "I owe you nothing. I don't have to_ no. I don't want to keep your secret, so excuse me while I go and tell everyone exactly what you are."

Daphne came to the front of the cafe. "Everyone!" She shouted, catching the attention of every worker and customer in the cafe. Mr Mateo also turns his eyes to Daphne. His brow was set in a frown even though he didn't know what was going on, he had an idea that it wasn't going to be good. "There's something that you should all know."

Kian rushes to Daphne. He tried dragging her away but she stood her ground and refused to move.

Nyla shook her head and pinched the bridge of her nose in annoyance. She had a dark expression on her face that said, 'doom,' as she turned her face away from Daphne. Her actions stated that she didn't want to get involved in what was about to happen.

"Don't do this," Kian told Daphne with a little voice that was full of fear. "If you do this, you are going to be in danger."

Daphne gave out a short sarcastic laugh. 'all my life, I have lived in danger.' she thought.

"There's a secret you must all know," Daphne said ignoring Kian.

"Please, I'm begging you. Don't do this."

Daphne opened her mouth to speak but she couldn't get the words out. Her heart didn't allow her. Kian sounded sad and desperate, his voice made Daphne think back to her tragic wedding and how she felt helpless, sad, and desperate. She couldn't kill Noah, or save anyone she cared about. Kian sounded like his secret was his lifeline, Daphne felt like everything was going to be tragic for him if she revealed something he wanted hidden.

"Does she plan on saying anything?" A female customer asks, "My coffee is getting cold."

The voice of a random customer snaps Daphne out of her thoughts. She cleared her throat and said, "My secret is that Mr Mateo's cafe is the best in Rays city." She gave a little bow as though she was a performer with an unhappy crowd.

"Thank you," Kian said, sincerely grateful.

"What was that?" Bella asked, After Daphne had left the front of the cafe, Bella was holding the order of a customer that needed to be delivered on a tray.

"Yeah, why were you being weird, and Kian..." Esther didn't hear most of what Kian said, but it almost sounded like he was begging Daphne.

Kian took permission from Mr Mateo and took Daphne away from Bella and Esther before she could say a word to them. He took her outside the cafe.

Daphne watched the conflicting emotions on Kian face before he finally burst out in frustration.

"Fine!" Kian said, "You are right about me. I'm the one you saw, I'm a beast, a wolf, whatever you want to call it, and I could kill you right now, to hide my secret, I've gotten so low that I know have to beg a human."

Kian sounded like he hated himself. Daphne felt a little guilt. She was starting to feel like she took things a bit too far with him.

"I know that you wouldn't kill me." Daphne said, "If you were a killer, you would have killed me when you found out that I knew your secret. But you didn't. You are not a killer Kian. I know a killer when I see one."

Daphne's words were full of so much certainty that it brought one question to Kian mouth, "who are you?"
