Jackson slowly rolled to his side, facing her. His lips parted, wanting to tell her of her situation and reality. But alas, his voice rolled back to his throat. Instead of saying or applying the things he had told himself, he lowered his head and claimed her lips.

He should've known that once he got a taste of the forbidden, there was no going back. After a full minute of a passionate kiss, he pulled his head away. His eyes softened as soon as he met her gaze.

"Filomena," she whispered before he could say anything. 

His brows rose before the space between them crinkled. 

"It is not Latrice," she clarified with a soft smile. "It was Filomena. My name."

"You've known your name all along?" he asked, yet he didn't feel the need to enter his combat mode. "Why hadn't you killed me yet?"
