Chapter 53

After the odd moment when Rin hugged me in front of my family, I found myself caught between their awkward glances.

I wrapped my arm around Rin's waist, introducing her, "Everyone, this is Rin. She's like family to me and my business partner. Rin, meet my dad, mom, and little brother."

"Nice to meet you all," Rin gave a slight bow.

"Thanks for taking care of my son. I hope he hasn't caused any trouble?" my mom said, bowing slightly.

Rin straightened up, waving her hand. "Not at all. He's actually been the one taking care of me. I'm glad I could help him in any way I could."

Mineta grabbed my leg and whispered to me as I bent down, "Hey brother, if you marry her, you can save our bloodline," he said.

Right. Mineta was a dwarf, so he had that sort of mindset.

"Forget about it. This makes me curious. Did you get back to any of your ex-girlfriends?" I asked. I knew he had a rough year after losing his money.

"No, not really. I missed the food more than them. Other than that, I'm trying to find someone who loves me for who I am," he said. "Like you found that blue-haired girl."

Mineta had matured, not in height, but in mind. That wasn't something you saw every day.

I nodded in approval.

"But until then, I'll enjoy some occasional pleasure," Mineta said, crossing his arms and smiling like a little thug.

'This little rascal,' I thought to myself, 'he's making progress nonetheless.'

Afterward, a few servants came and took our belongings. With our rooms prepared, we departed. I headed to the upper floor and stared out the window at my new property.

'I need to make my money back from spending it on that cloning machine,' I thought as I lay down. I grabbed my phone and emailed Nejire my new address so she could drop by later for studying.

My phone lit up with notifications. Several cryptocurrencies and meme coins had skyrocketed, indicating it was time to sell. With just my phone, I had made a fortune that could last for generations.

'Still, if I could have Momo, make her as big as Mt. Lady, I could have tons of gold,' I thought to myself, letting my mind wander. 'And if I could add Eri's or Kai's quirk to that, along with an energy source, so she could rewind the fats back... It would be like an endless mine of gold. But for a body to handle that, I'd need to clone All for One's quirk…'

But that felt too absurd and too difficult to even consider.

I turned to look at my room. It was spacious, with an office, a study corner, and a large white bed. I went to the closet where Rin had bought me many outfits. I appreciated her attention to detail. I chose a pajama set that fit perfectly and then lay down for a quick nap.

My phone rang suddenly. It was a call from Alfred, saying someone was at my door claiming to be a classmate here to study. I told him to let her in.

A few minutes later, Nejire entered with her backpack on. She had a stunned expression on her face.

"You never told me you were rich," she said. "Don't tell me you thought I could be a gold digger?"

That's what I liked about her. She always spoke her mind.

"No, not really," I replied. "I got lucky with crypto and became rich."

"Really? How did you do that?" she asked, seeming interested as she sat on my bed.

"I followed someone's recommendation," I said, showing her the notifications about my earnings. "And it worked out."

"So, you made more than a professional hero without doing anything?" she asked.

"It's luck. I could also lose everything," I said.

"Mm... so your future is secured," she said, lying back on my bed.

Chuckling, I lay down next to her. "What? You don't see yourself in that future?"

"I didn't mean it that way," she replied, chuckling and playing with my cheek. "I'm just wondering if you're going to drop out of school now that you've got this."

"Not really," I replied.

Even if I was rich, being uneducated would harm my public image and status, and give envious people a reason to spread rumors. I didn't want others to feel superior to me even in the slightest. Plus, there was another reason. When I became a hero, I'd have permission to use my quirk whenever I saw fit.

"Basically, a license to kick ass. I need that as well."

"Phew. I was worried you were about to leave and become a playboy or something," she said.

"When did I give off playboy vibes?" I asked.

"Whenever you smile at Midnight and she starts flirting with you," she said, raising an eyebrow.

"She talks like that to everyone," I calmly replied.

"Not to me," Nejire said, placing her hands on her hips.

"That's because you're a girl, a pretty one. So she sees you as competition. Didn't you see how she and Mt. Lady fight on TV?"

Blushing slightly, Nejire smiled and replied, "That makes me flattered and a bit insecure. Are you calling Mt. Lady pretty?"

"It's not about me, so give me your opinion."

"She's not bad looking," Nejire admitted. "Forget it. Let's get through our studying. We have exams in a couple of days."

"Yeah," I nodded. "I prefer that too."

Studying was easy for me, but Nejire needed to put in effort.

We took out our notes and books. Nejire began reading while I activated my Sharingan and started scrolling through the pages.

"Playing around won't get you good grades," Nejire said, disappointed.

"Nejire, remember when I told you about my eyes allowing me to copy martial arts moves?" I said.

"Yes."

"They allow me to remember anything I see, down to the smallest detail," I tapped the side of my head. "The pages are getting recorded up here. It's better than reading each page a hundred times."

Tears welled up in her eyes, "For the first time, I'm envious of someone else's quirk."

She had a point. I'd envy myself too.

"Don't worry. Plenty of people envy you," I laughed, playfully slapping her butt cheek before continuing to flip through the pages.

After a quick study session, we were prepared for the first day. Nejire was smart and had paid attention in class, so she was okay. I had caught up on what I missed and then some.

Glancing at the setting sun, I turned to Nejire, who was packing up her things.

"Leaving already?" I asked.

"You don't want me to?" she said.

I nodded.

She came over and kissed me on the lips.

"That's sweet of you. But my mom would kill me if I spent the night alone in a boy's house," she said.

"We could have a quick round though," I replied, feeling a bit aroused. I'm a man with needs.

She nodded before throwing herself at me. I picked her up and threw her onto the bed, placing my hands on her thighs and pushing her skirt up.

The next day arrived.

We went to school, and the first thing we had was our written exams.

Flipping my pen with my finger, I breezed through the answers. My subconscious mind recalled the images I had memorized, picking out the correct responses. Not only did I have visual memory, but I could also understand and apply it.

'Sharingan doesn't just teach you how to fight, but lets you apply what you've learned instantly. It rewires the brain so that anything you learn gets implanted in your mind. In neuroscience, achieving that typically requires repeating the same action for many weeks or months consistently.'

Finishing the exams, I was confident I'd secure the top spot.

Midnight then instructed us to get our hero costumes before leading us to a testing site.

In front of a large board with cameras displaying different locations, the principal, a small humanoid rat-bear creature, entered.

One of the testing sites resembled a full city. Others seemed equally elaborate.

'There's so much money in the market in the 2100s. The principal, with super intelligence, must have leveraged it to make money.'

The principal explained how the computer would randomly pair two students to team up and fight a random teacher.

The teams were selected, and I was paired with Tamaki. I glanced at Midnight; she had a small bead of sweat on her forehead.

Then, it was our team's turn. The names of teachers appeared on the screen in a spinning roulette. Eventually, it landed on a name.

Midnight clenched her fists and shook them as if excited, a broad smile appearing on her face.

'Guess I wouldn't mess with her.'

'Lucky girl,' I thought, turning to Tamaki, whose face was frozen.

When I looked at the monitor, my eyes fell on the name: 'All Might!'
