Chapter 251: Friendly Fire and Awakening

"Did you hear that noise? The Saiyan has returned. Are you sure you want to keep us locked up here?" Constantine shrugged as he heard the commotion inside the Magic Academy and spoke to the guardian, "Those Shadow Hunters in your academy are no match for a Saiyan!"

Hearing Constantine's words, the guardian fell silent. He had chosen to cooperate with Valmont because he wanted to escape the Magic Academy, which had imprisoned him for countless years, to gain his freedom. For this purpose, even if it meant harming some people, the guardian was willing to make sacrifices.

However, if it meant sacrificing all the Shadow Hunters, the guardian felt somewhat reluctant, especially since even if these Shadow Hunters were sacrificed, he wouldn't be able to defeat Robert, and he might end up dying alongside them...

The guardian was aware of Valmont's strength. He did not know if anyone on Earth, other than those from the Kamar-Taj lineage, could stand against Valmont, nor had he heard of many demons more powerful than Valmont.

But now, with Robert having returned unharmed, it meant that Robert had defeated or even killed Valmont. The cooperation between the guardian and Valmont was no longer necessary, and he no longer had much leverage...

"Let him in." Thoughts raced through the guardian's mind, and after regaining his composure, his voice echoed throughout the Magic Academy, causing the cautious Shadow Hunters watching Robert to freeze in place.

What was happening now? Initially, it was said that Constantine and others were in league with Valmont. After disabling Constantine's magic, they didn't engage in battle but instead locked Constantine in the basement. This had already puzzled the Shadow Hunters.

And now, upon seeing Robert, the guardian ordered everyone to let Robert enter the Magic Academy. Even knowing Robert's strength, he was still an enemy. Letting an enemy into the Magic Academy, where was the dignity of the Magic Academy? Where was the dignity of the Shadow Hunter lineage?

However, they had been following the guardian's orders for countless years without ever defying them. In the Shadow Hunter lineage, they did not worship God or angels. The guardian, who guided them to obtain powers and grow in the Magic Academy, was their life mentor!

Thus, despite some hesitation, the Shadow Hunters eventually agreed and stepped aside, allowing Robert to enter the Magic Academy.

But even if they hadn't stepped aside, Robert had no intention of waiting. He only paused upon entering the Magic Academy because he sensed Constantine's location; otherwise, he would have directly entered with Joslyn.

Watching Robert enter the Magic Academy, ignoring them, the Shadow Hunters fell into silence. They were naturally displeased but powerless to do anything.

Especially Jess, who had been dragged out of the teleportation gate by Robert, knew firsthand how terrifying Robert was. Jess understood why the guardian ultimately decided against fighting Robert; the guardian felt there was no chance of defeating Robert...

"Joslyn!" As Robert just entered the basement of the Magic Academy, the first to react was not Constantine or the guardian, but Luke. Upon seeing Joslyn floating in mid-air, his eyes lit up, and he excitedly called out to her.

But Joslyn showed no response, still unconscious, just like Clare beside her. They could earn the title of Sleeping Beauty mother and daughter.

"What's wrong with Joslyn? Why isn't she responding? Could it be?" Seeing no response from Joslyn, Luke immediately panicked. He transformed into a werewolf, wanting to rush over to check.

"Zzzz!" But the next moment, a surge of electricity struck Luke, causing his body to convulse instantly.

The guardian's expression changed drastically. He quickly waved his hand to cancel the electric current, then looked at Luke lying on the ground somewhat awkwardly and cautiously asked Robert, "If I say this was a misunderstanding, would you believe me?"

"What do you think?" Robert responded indifferently.

"It really was a misunderstanding. I admit, after you left, I did take action against them, but I didn't harm them. I just wanted to lock them up to see who would win between you and Valmont..." the guardian quickly explained.

"Until you returned, they had been locked up here to prevent them from running around. I had to set up some measures, but they were quite behaved, so they didn't trigger any of those measures."

"But you came back so suddenly, I hadn't had the chance to deactivate these measures before you entered. I didn't do it on purpose..."

After deciding to concede, the guardian was somewhat panicked. He had captured Constantine and others to gain leverage. If Robert returned, he hoped Robert would spare him. But now, having electrocuted Luke half to death, it was really hard to explain.

Even the guardian felt a slight relief that Luke was electrocuted in his werewolf form. If he had been shocked in his human form, he might not have survived, and then the situation would truly escalate to a point of no return. Unlike now, there was still a slight chance for negotiation...

"Let's see how he is first!" Robert glanced at the unstable Luke and spoke. Honestly, Luke's strength was really weak. In Robert's view, such strength was only sufficient to deal with ordinary people. Facing even slightly formidable supernatural forces, Luke would likely be defeated quickly.

"Okay, okay!" The guardian's other abilities aside, his logistical capabilities were definitely top-notch. After all, he had spent so many years in the Magic Academy, guiding so many Shadow Hunters; he was certainly capable of ensuring their well-being.

Robert had intended to use a healing spell on Luke, not entirely sure at first, but now it seemed Luke was not a bad person. However, the guardian acted faster than Robert, enveloping Luke in mysterious magic that gradually healed his injuries. Even Clare, who had been unconscious all this time, finally began to awaken.

Keeping Clare unconscious was also a tactic for the guardian to negotiate, but now he had lost the right to negotiate, so he simply let Clare wake up, hoping to make a good impression on Robert and Constantine.

"How could you be so weak to get caught like this? Didn't you resist?" While the guardian was healing Luke, Robert looked at Constantine disdainfully and asked.

"Of course, I resisted. But who knew the Shadow Hunter lineage would really stop considering themselves as mages? They even set up an anti-magic formation in their own stronghold. Isn't that completely lacking the spirit of a mage?" Constantine, upon hearing Robert's criticism, immediately became annoyed and glared at the guardian as he spoke.

Although Constantine didn't hold much respect for many different branches of mages and even his identity as a mage wasn't highly regarded, he felt that compared to this so-called Magic Academy, his mage spirit was indeed higher!

"Huh? What's happening? Did I faint? Hm? Luke... Mom!" As Constantine was indignantly making the guardian somewhat embarrassed, Clare finally woke up, murmuring subconsciously. She first noticed Luke beside her, then saw her unconscious mother.

Without any hesitation, Clare abandoned the idea of checking on Luke and rushed towards Joslyn, looking worriedly at her mother, who was still unconscious and floating in mid-air.

"What's going on? How is my mom?" After observing for a while and seeing no signs of Joslyn waking up, Clare's

brows furrowed as she hesitantly asked Robert.

Although Clare wasn't quite sure what had happened during her unconsciousness, Joslyn floating beside Robert probably meant Joslyn was rescued by Robert, so Clare turned to Robert for answers.

"To be honest, I'm not sure what happened to her. When I got there, she was already in this state. Valmont's subordinates were planning to move her, but I killed them all. Valmont almost died, but the mastermind behind the scenes couldn't resist and rescued him..." Robert shrugged and spoke softly.

"Valmont didn't die?!" Constantine and the guardian exclaimed in unison, with Constantine adding, "What's this about a mastermind? Do you know who it is?"

"It's probably an angel, so be careful with the Angel's Blood in your hands!" Robert shook his head and said, "I've been waiting for the mastermind to show up, but after waiting for so long without any sign, I decided to kill Valmont..."

"Just then, Valmont, whose wings I had torn off, erupted with a burst of divine light similar to Gabriel's, or rather, I can't really tell the difference in this divine light power when it's in the hands of different angels..."

"After that, Valmont disappeared. I didn't continue the chase because leaving her there alone was too unsafe, so I brought her back!"

"Thank you, thank you for saving my mom!" Clare, hearing Robert's words, looked at him gratefully and then asked worriedly, "Is there any danger to my mom now? How can we wake her up?"

"You could try calling out to her. I sense her aura isn't disturbed; it's not even a feigned death, more like she's just in a deep sleep..." Robert glanced at the unconscious Joslyn and said, "If that doesn't work, I can try waking her up with my consciousness."

"Okay, I'll try..." Clare nodded and began calling out to the unconscious Joslyn, but despite her efforts, there was no response, increasing Clare's anxiety until she turned to Robert for help.

"Alright!" Robert nodded and, under Clare's somewhat fearful gaze, slapped Joslyn on the head, causing her soul to fly out instantly.

Everyone present was not ordinary, except Luke who couldn't see Joslyn's soul. The rest saw Joslyn's soul floating aimlessly in mid-air, seemingly confused about why her soul had left her body.

"Mom? Is that? Mom's soul?" Clare was somewhat bewildered upon seeing Joslyn's soul for the first time, but she quickly realized and excitedly called out, "Mom, how are you now?"

"Is everything over? Where's the Holy Grail? What about Valmont?" Joslyn, who had blocked all her senses and knew nothing of the outside world, regained her senses upon hearing Clare's call and began asking questions.

"Is the Holy Grail in the Tarot cards? If so, it should be in my possession..." Upon waking, Clare felt she might have gained extraordinary abilities. The Tarot cards in her grasp seemed to warm slightly under her senses, but Clare had no time to explore her newly awakened powers, as Joslyn was more important.

"Why did you bring this up? There are so many people here..." Joslyn's expression changed, and she quickly returned to her body, immediately regaining consciousness. She was about to say something when she felt her body lose balance the next moment.

With a thud, Joslyn's body fell to the ground, looking up at the ceiling somewhat dazedly.

Clare had intended to catch Joslyn, but she fell too quickly for Clare to react.

Robert didn't even glance at Joslyn on the ground, while Constantine's mouth twitched slightly. He glanced at Robert but said nothing, and the guardian also pretended to know nothing, keeping his mouth shut.

"Mom, they're all good people... well, at least he is!" Clare helped Joslyn up, looked around at everyone, and then turned to Robert, saying, "He saved you and protected me from dying at the hands of demons..."

"Valmont was also defeated by him, but Valmont didn't die and escaped. He brought you back first to ensure your safety..."

"Impossible! This guy looks like..." Joslyn instinctively exclaimed, then saw Robert's indifferent gaze, trembled slightly, and couldn't speak.

The next chapter will be in the morning.
