The Hero Association

It was just too tiring.

"That would be one dollar, fifty cents, officer."

Ravi paid cash and collected the cup of boba with his right hand. It was so chilled and sweet, he took a long sip. Today was truly tiring. The old woman rambled on and on, Ravi would bring her back to the day of the incident and somehow, she would delve away but in the end, he had managed to get it on record that she has no memory of what happened after she left the club.

No matter how roundabout Ravi asked her, the woman only recalled leaving the club and reaching home, about 40 minutes of her life was completely missing. If Hunter was here, he might suggest techniques to rouse her memory, but Ravi did not pay enough attention in those Sentinel aid classes to remember all those techniques.

Slurp! Slurp!

Ravi drained everything in the cup before crushing it and throwing it into the recycle bin. He entered the car and held the steering wheel for a minute. Why was he feeling disappointed, why did the disappointment come from? He sighed loudly in the car. Ravi rubbed his chest and zoomed off.

Ten minutes later, he stopped in front of the Bureau.

"Captain. Mrs Karen has no memory of when she left the club till when she got home." Ravi announced as he entered the bureau.

"That is because she was drunk. Memory loss is one of the side effects of alcohol, is it not?" A voice interjected harshly, causing Ravi to pause and stare.

The woman had almond-shaped piercing yellow eyes that gleamed like gold coins, she was tall and muscular with her black hair cut in a sharp lob, just above her shoulders. Next to her was a shorter male with red hair cut short in a pixie cut, brushing over his face, and deep dark eyes that were outlined with thick eyeliner. He wore a loose flowing black capris, with a cropped red slitted shirt that showed off the tattoos on his spine.

But unlike the woman who was glaring at Arlen, the young man seemed to have zero interest in what was going on and was looking around the posters in the Bureau.

That Badge. The Hero Association was already here. Wasn't that a little too fast?

"Thank you, Officer West." Arlen said but the usual cheer in his voice was missing.

"Are you trying to waste the resources of the Hero Association chasing a make-believe mutant?"

Ravi crossed over to where Lisa was standing and asked her silently what was going on.

"I don't know. She came in and she was against everything that the Captain had been saying."

Arlen stood opposite the woman and showed her the image on the laptop, "Miss Reed. Look at the blank expression and.."

"Blank expression? She is old. She might have forgotten herself. The woman is a chronic gambler. I don't see a case here." The woman, Emily Reed, hurriedly interrupted Arlen.

Ravi frowned, a sharp spike of anger filled him, shocking him at its intensity.

Ravi shook his head, Arlen was his direct superior, any subordinate would be angry to see such a situation, right? He felt a gaze on him and turned to look at Lisa.

"What is it?"

The young woman shook her head. Just now, she had been looking at Ravi, his hazel eyes taking a gray glint that made fear lance through her heart. She shook her head and looked at Ravi.

It was still the Ravi she knew that looked like someone owed him money or stole his wife.

"If you frown so much, you will get wrinkles while you are still young."

Ravi rolled his eyes, causing her to smile. She must have imagined it due to stress but a trace of fear still lingered in her heart. Ravi did not pay her much attention, his gaze instinctively returning to Arlen.

Arlen took a deep breath, not planning to just take it, "Miss Reed…"

The woman laughed, "Arlen, are you so eager to go back to the Capital that you would concoct something that does not exist."

"Captain Sinclair."

"Excuse me."

"We are not familiar with each other, you would address me as Captain Sinclair, Miss Reed. I invited the Hero's Association to apprehend the suspect in this case. Even if you think the evidence is too arbitrary, you would give me the benefit of the doubt. I just hope that you are ready for the consequences if anything should happen to the police officers if we were to apprehend the suspect."

Emily Reed gritted her teeth. If not for the people around, she would have grabbed Arlen's neck and crushed it. He did not even apologize. What, they were not familiar. She had rushed here before everyone else to hear such cold words from his lips.

"So, who is the suspect?" She asked.

Even though the Captain's face was straight, Ravi could see the bright red tips of his ears. He was very embarrassed. After all, they had not identified the suspect.

"Captain! Captain!" Draco shouted as he rushed into the Bureau, "We have it. We have it." In his haste, he bumped into the woman and fell on his buttocks.

She is strong. Ravi cocked his head, it was not the strength of her ability, that one was almost nonexistent in his eyes but the ability itself. Super strength? He did not know.

Speaking of which, he also did not know his Captain's ability.

"Ouch!" Draco groaned as he held his buttocks. Ravi's lips twitched.

He stood up and he narrowed his light ice blue eyes on Emily, "Who is this woman? Why are you blocking my path? Don't you see we are solving a case here?"

Emily was shocked and tapped her chest, looking around, "Me, are you talking to me?"

"Is there another woman here?" Draco said angrily, he had fallen in front of the entire team. He was so embarrassed.

"Hey!" Lisa grumbled from where she stood.

Emily blinked, "You are really talking to me." She took a step forward and Arlen, who had been nursing a smile, crossed between her and Draco instead.

"Miss Reed, this is Draco Brown, a level two mutant police officer. Officer Brown, Miss Reed."

There was no title causing Draco to raise his shoulder which hunched down the next second.

"Miss Reed is from the Hero Association Branch office at Alstria, she is a level 5 mutant."

Draco choked, "Level 5." His voice took a high pitch that he would rather die than admit.
