Chapter 50

As Alexis followed Red through the hospital, she noticed his quickened pace and how stiff his posture was. Red could tell that someone was following him, but not who, and he was not about to find out. Red's shoulders were tense, and his gaze darted around to where he could possibly hide. Alexis mirrored his hastened steps, her heart pounding in her chest as she struggled to keep up. 

Suddenly, a young child, no other than five, darted out of the waiting room, colliding with Red's legs, and tumbling to the ground with a startled cry. Red immediately halted, and his brows furrowed as he kneeled beside the fallen child. 

"Are you alright?" Red's voice softened, and his jaw was tense. 

The young child's cry caught the attention of his mother. 

"Can't you be careful?" she asserted. "You bumped into my child." The woman helped her child up.
