"What are you doing?" Nadia's voice trembled, and her eyes widened in panic. She gasped for breath, struggling against his hold. Her leg was trembling beneath her.
"I warned you, but you don't seem to take my warning seriously." Javier's eyes gaze into hers, his expression unreadable.
Nadia used her hand to hold the wall, and she was trembling. Realizing that something might have happened at their house.
"Is she going to divorce you after hearing what I said?" she smiled at him.
As Javier's grip tightened around Nadia's throat, a sudden memory entered his mind. "Promise me you will never kill anyone, no matter what the person does."
He released his grip on her, and she fell to the floor, holding her throat. She was breathing heavily.
"I know you will never kill me."
Javier throws a picture on the floor. Her hand trembled as she picked up the picture, and her eyes widened as she saw it.
"W….what did you do to my father?" she said, as fear gripped her.
"I did nothing," he said. "Isn't that the place your father is hiding?"
Nadia was anxious. How could he find her father so easily when not many people know where he hides? She was trying to read Javier's expression to see what he was thinking, but she could not read it.
Javier smiled and brought her chin up.
"Do you think I did not know what you and your father planned? Do you think I am a fool?"
Nadia's father was a worker for Riley Group Corporation. He was given the most important job to do, but he misused it and tried to bring down the corporation.
"You already knew, so why did you deceive me?" she yelled. "You told me the wrong information?"
"Wrong information?" He burst into laughter. "If I were you, I would warn him to leave that hiding spot and find a new one because if I caught him, he would regret the day he was born."
"Your father is going to pay the price instead of you, so don't do things that will make me kill you." He pushes her hair on one side.
"Why are you doing this to me?" Her voice trembled. "It was my father who did everything; I was only following his order. I never meant to hurt you."
Javier stood up and looked at her with a serious tone.
"Stay far away from me and Yvonne. I don't want to see you near her," he pointed at her.
As he was about to leave, he stopped and looked back at her. "The movie you are acting in with her, I will take you out of it," he said. "That will be your punishment for purposely leading Yvonne to hear what you said yesterday."
He was about to open the door when Nadia gripped his leg, "Don't leave me! If you leave me, I will be alone," she pleaded.
Javier was getting impatient. He never thought he would encounter someone like her in his lifetime. He wondered why she was still acting like this after what he did to her. Even though Yvonne loved him, she never acted like this, so why is Nadia acting this way?
He yanked his leg away from her, opened the door, and left. Behind the door, he could hear her crying.
His driver, who was waiting for him, opened the car door as he entered. While he was in his car, his phone rang.
"Mr. Riley, Yvonne has locked herself in the room and is refusing to eat. What should I do?"
"Really? She hasn't eaten anything since morning?"
"Yes, and I am very worried about her."
Javier put his hand on his forehead and sighed.
"Okay, I am coming. I will handle it."
Javier hung up the phone and told the driver, who is his right-hand man, to cancel all his appointments today, and he wouldn't be coming to the office today.
Javier checked his suit pocket, but he couldn't find any sweets to lick.
"Should I stop at the grocery store to get a sweet for you?"
"No need! I need to meet with her so she can eat."
His driver nodded, and Javier took a picture from inside his suit jacket pocket.
"Why is your sister so stubborn? I never told your sister the truth; she finds out by herself, so I hope you don't blame me."
He closed his eyes when a flash of memories came in.
[Flashback]
"Give it to me, or she dies."
"Don't listen to them," the girl yells. "If you give it to them, you will never see me again."
A gun was shot.
[End of flashback]
He opened his eyes immediately and was panting loudly.
His driver looked at him in the mirror.
"Are you okay?"
"I am fine."
He put the picture back in his pocket.
They arrived at the mansion and met with Jenny, who was waiting for them.
"Ever since I came back this morning, she is not on her usual self," she said as Javier was walking upstairs to Yvonne's room. "Did you argue with her?"
Javier smiled at her, then knocked on the door, but there was no response.
"Open the door," he said. "If you don't open it, I will use the spare key to enter."
There was still no response inside, so Javier told Jenny to get the spare key, which then opened the door.
Yvonne was lying on the bed with her stomach down. The room was burning hot. Javier turned off the heater and opened the window.
"Are you planning on killing yourself?" he said as he removed his suit jacket and loosened his tie.
He continued, "In this hot weather, you turned the heater to 90 degree."
Yvonne stood up.
"Well, if you don't want me to die, just sign the divorce paper, and then I won't die."
"So, is that what it was about?" He turned to look at Jenny. "Get her the food, and I will see if she won't eat. I will force it down her throat."
A few minutes later, Jenny brought the food, and Javier told her to leave. The door was closed.
"Will you eat gently, or should I feed you?"
Yvonne sat on the bed and didn't give a response. He sat down on the bed and held her tightly to his body as he was attempting to feed her when, all of a sudden, the urge to vomit came. She pushes him away and runs to the bathroom.
"Did you see yourself? You are vomiting just because of food?"
Yvonne cleaned herself up and was glad he did not notice it right away, which can complicate things.
She came out of the bathroom, looking rough.
"I will eat only if I visit my sister alone."
