Chapter 30: Chaser and Challenge

After Alaric was discharged, Roger Davies, the captain and Chaser of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, immediately approached him and sincerely invited him to join the Quidditch team as a Seeker.

In Quidditch matches, each team has seven players, including three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper, and one Seeker. There are four balls used in the game: one Golden Snitch, two Bludgers, and one Quaffle.

The Keeper guards the goalposts of their own team, preventing the opposing players from scoring goals. 

The three Chasers are responsible for throwing the Quaffle into one of the opposing team's goalposts to earn points for their team. The two Beaters protect their teammates from Bludgers and hit Bludgers towards the opposing players. The Seeker is responsible for searching for the Golden Snitch in the field, catching it, and ending the game.

The team that catches the Golden Snitch gets an additional 150 points. However, winning the Snitch doesn't necessarily mean winning the game because the point difference between the two teams may be greater than one hundred and fifty points.

Usually, the Seeker is the key figure on the pitch and the most prominent star.

Generally, the player with the lightest body weight and fastest flight becomes the seeker.

However, for Alaric, becoming a Seeker was not his preference.

He felt that being a Seeker, where the whole game revolves around searching for one ball, would be quite boring. It was not only monotonous but also lacked interaction with other players throughout the game.

Compared to being a Seeker, he would prefer to be a Chaser.

Among the positions of Seeker, Chaser, and Beater, the Chaser in Quidditch was more like a player in football or basketball. Chasers cooperate with each other, scoring goals or preventing the opponents from scoring.

Alaric believed that his physical talent not only allowed him to fly fast but also gave him stronger physical confrontation abilities, enabling him to perform more complex and challenging maneuvers during flight.

The seeker's skills are like Bolt's, they are simply faster. On the football field, Bolt can take the ball and run as quickly as possible, but that's about it.

However, to become a real football player such as Ronaldo or Messi, not only speed is required, but also physical fitness, skills and other abilities are required.

However, for Roger, Alaric's choice was difficult to understand.

Generally, the Seeker is the most eye-catching player on the field.

On the other hand, being a Chaser requires higher ball-handling skills and more complex coordination. Flying ability alone is not enough.

He also saw Hermione sitting excitedly in the stands. She stood up and waved to him as soon as she saw him. 

Surprisingly, Penelope was sitting beside her. It seemed that they had become friends privately since the incident of Alaric being hospitalized.
