Chapter 151 - The War On Heaven Part 5

The walk into the Sanctuary was of relative peace without obstruction. Adam expected there would be some resistance but no. No one even steps up to stop them. Instead, the angels give them a wide berth and generally run the opposite way as soon as they encounter Adam and Unohana.

Upon arriving at the end of the path, they arrived in a void like place with a starry void. There are no boundaries where is the ground or ceiling but in the middle of the space is a long table with its sets of chairs made of the purest marbles and gold. Behind the sets of tables and chairs are a throne made of marble with no engraving or ornaments, just a simple white marble throne. Sat on the throne is a man with white hair and long beard which is usually associated with being aged and old. However, he looks like a man at the prime of his age. Chiseled muscular body wrapped by a white ceremonial toga of ancient greek and that man stared at the two new arrivals with a pair of sharp eyes.

"So it's time, huh. Well, let's get this started."

The entire realm rumbles as the stars in the void vanish. Powerful aura gathering like a storm around Deus X as he stood up from his throne that immediately crumbled into dust by the gathering storm of destructive energy.

Adam and Unohana immediately get into their battle stance. Unohana instantly vanished, leaving behind the afterimage as her blade clashed directly against Deus X who raised up his hand and caught the blade with his own hand. Unohana disengaged immediately when she realized a normal attack would work.

Meanwhile Adam is standing still, holding the unsheathed Kyoka Suigetsu in reverse grip and then letting it fall to the ground. When the blade stabbed the ground, it created waves like a disturbed puddle, but instead this is a purple portal that immediately overlaps the void with a realm of purple mirrors like an infinite maze of never ending illusion. Alongside the change of landscape is Adam who transformed into his Mugen form.

"This… a domain. Also a Divine Core." Deus X looks at the realm around him and then the Hogyoku at the center of Adam's chest where it floats, fixed in place and constantly rotating.

"You reached the realm of Godhood through an unorthodox method. No wonder I couldn't sense it. But, boy. God grew stronger by age. I had been one since before the creation of the universe while you achieve it barely a dozen years."

Deus X moved his hand like a crushing motion and the destructive energy around him stirred and moved accordingly before trying to constrict Adam but he only gave the attack a scoff and the attack suddenly vanished like it was never there.

"Indeed, I admit I lost against you in terms of raw power and experience. However, I never intended to fight you with those anyway." Adam snapped his finger and flowers made of purple crystals bloomed before they shattered and turned into dust that floated around like a fog.

"Hmn. Petty tricks." Deus X waved his hand and the storm clashed against the fog of crystals to disperse it. However, it was to no avail.

"This!" Deus X noticed something wrong but he was too late.

The fog suddenly concentrates back into crystals but instead of flowers, it's blades. Adam swung down his arm and the crystal blades slashed Deus X like a torrent of blades. But when Deus X tried to block those blades, not only he couldn't. But they ignore all the defense he could muster and left him riddled with slashes that glows brightly as his spirit leaks out like pressured air.

The attack Adam used is not only using Zanpakuto. But also incorporated the Quincy ability in the Selee Schneider. To cut and rend the soul and then…

"Sklaverei."

He will steal the power Deus X bleeds out which in turn strengthens himself.

"Hmn. I see. Such a wondrous ability exists. However, that is assuming you can keep repeating the same trick which would never work again."

The cloud of destructive energy condenses and rumbles as thunderstorms brewing inside it before raining down apocalyptic thunderstrikes at Adam while a powerful tornado sweeps away the curtains of purple crystal dust. The finisher was a halo of sun that formed above him, sending waves of scorching heat just by appearing and launching solar flares at Adam in continuous barrage. In reply, Adam fiercely dodged and parried away the incoming attacks as best as he could for a few seconds when the attacks from Deus X suddenly ceased.

"You—!" Deus X angrily shouted in disbelief and shock when a familiar jet black flame stabbed through his body and emerged from the front while the 'Adam' he was fighting against suddenly cracked and shattered to reveal a bloodied but happy Unohana using Kaido to heal her body.

"How! Your illusion…"

He paused as realization sunk in that Kyoka Suigetsu's power was never Illusion as he expected and the Hypnosis had affected him long before Adam arrived at his doorstep. It was from the moment he accidentally saw the blade from his visions.

"KAH! Cough! Cough! You!" Deus X coughed out a mouthful of blood in anger and disbelief he fell for such a trick.

"Shut up. You are too noisy." Adam pushes his Zanpakuto all the way to the base before twisting it and whispering the word.

"Devour."

The jet black blade glows dimly with dark light and greedily devours Deus X power. However, instead of screaming in pain or fear, he laughed while Adam grit his teeth.

"Is that it? No matter how good your ability is, it has its limitations right? And the limitation is the amount of power your body can handle." Deus X made a bloodthirsty grin before he tightly gripped the blade protruding through his chest and flooded it with his power. "Take it! I want to see you bloat up and explode!"

Adam cursed under his breath as the Hogyoku in his chest glow brighter and spinning faster and faster until it was too fast and looked like a blur. His eyes turn red as blood bleeds out like tears and his other orifices while he grit his teeth. He forcefully yanks out his Zanpakuto from the death grip before he falls down to the ground and a slight cracking noise can be heard from the Hogyoku which simultaneously causes a visible fracture to appear on the purple crystal mirror domain.

Ignoring the fracture on his soul, Adam immediately lifts his hand up which glows with blue light as a massive amount of Reishi is gathering and forms a barrier.

"Blut Vene Anhaben!"

Blue veins extend from Adam's foot to the ground and instantly form a dome of blue energy before a barrage of apocalyptic thunderstrikes rained down on the barrier. It seems that Adam managed to enrage Deus X. The only problem is he didn't try to do it on purpose and now the enraged God is unleashing all his power without restraint anymore to tore open Adam's turtle shell and kill him in one swoop.

Thankfully Adam is very confident in his defense to take all of the punishment Deus X can throw at him thanks to his Semblance that adds Anti-Supernatural on his energy which is especially effective when defending because it breakdown the incoming attacks into nothingness.

Deus X shed his shell and exposed his true self, a being of energy in humanoid form with a pair of golden wings and serpentine dragon wrap around himself.

The dragon serpent that coiled around Deus X which is oddly similar to Steel Leviathan except this is much superior in every shape or form. It's like comparing the grandness between a river and ocean. It's simply too wide of a gap that comparison is not possible.

From the open maw of the serpentine dragon, light concentrates there and forms a sphere. Adam didn't need to be told to guess what is incoming. The energy concentrated in that sphere of light is like a thousand suns merged into one. Deus X is definitely not playing around anymore.

Adam quickly turned around and looked at Unohana who saw him and understood what he wanted to say without needing to hear it.

"No need to worry about me. I will not leave so don't try anything funny or I'll kill you myself later." Unohana said with a threatening manner before Adam nodded and called upon Kyoka Suigetsu.

The green hilted Zanpakuto faithfully answers his summons. However she is hesitant after learning what Adam wanted to attempt. But as a weapon, it's not her place to doubt her wielder. Her job is to only answer the expectation of her wielder and perform at her best while Adam will handle the rest.

Adam held Kyoka Suigetsu with a relaxed stance before closing his eyes shut and exhaling.

"Ban—Kai!"

Ripples form on the reality, center around him and flowing through everything harmlessly until it fades away. This left both Deus X and Unohana confused because nothing happened and the serpentine dragon finished charging its attack then unleashed a power beam of light that can evaporate the world in one touch. The beam shot at Adam but oddly enough, simply passed through him without any effect. However, the effect is only a ripple like echoes where Adam remained unharmed like someone trying to hit the moon by hitting its reflection on the water surface.

Angered by the lack of results, the serpentine dragon dashed forward and open it's jaw wide to swallow Adam but once again, the same thing happened and Adam remain unaffected while he lift the Zanpakuto and with an instantaneous slash, the dragon was cut in half and shrieked in pain and anger.

As for Deus X, he had been watching his dragon poking and probing Adam's power and figuring out the nature of Adam's power. Other than Perfect Hypnosis that manipulates senses and actual Illusion power in his Mugen Form. Now his Bankai directly manipulates the reality although the activation of Bankai itself cancels out the Hypnosis.

The power is annoying at best and if Deus X wanted, he could destroy Adam in an instant but that means he will also destroy the entire Divine Realm in the aftermath which is something he wanted to avoid or the Divine Race will truly be doomed.

He ordered his serpentine dragon to return with a flick of his wrist. Leaving Adam and Unohana confused by the sudden pause of their battle.

"I am the God King, Phanes. The God of Creation and Creator of this Universe." Deus X suddenly introduced himself out of the blue and showed no intention to attack. Yet.

"Although my greeting is late, welcome to my throne, intruders. Although we are enemies, I hope you will humor me with a question." The Phanes asked after he couldn't hold back his curiosity.

Adam is a little off-putted by the question but he entertains it regardless because a moment of respite is what he needs. After all, he could at least humor the dead man's last words. Adam gives a nod but his hand remains alert at the scabbard and the hilt of Kyoka Suigetsu.

"I appreciate it." The god closed his eyes and nodded before he asked. "I do not think there is a deep grievance between us to warrant such a devastating attack on my realm. Your reason to challenge me stems from those leeches that stole my power. However…" He paused and waved his hands before a screen made of energy appeared and showed countless worlds, continents and countries burned in the wake of his invasion. People, guilty or not, slaughter until an ocean of blood and a mountain of corpses are created.

"If your goal is merely to help those thieves, I would have granted it easily with a simple exchange of words. After all, it's their fault for stealing what's mine. But what I couldn't comprehend is your reason for this senseless slaughter. Your 'System' would not allow such an act nor would reward it. After all, its purpose is to combat an Outer God, not to aid its agent becoming one."

"So, answer me. Give me an answer. Is this truly your will to enact such cruelty or have you unknowingly succumbed to the weight of those powers you robbed?"

Phanes looks at the shaken expression of Adam and immediately gets his answer without needing a verbal reply. A look of pity even appeared on Phanes face as he looked at Adam's crumbling mental state.

"No! It shouldn't be… I… I'm…" Adam couldn't say that Phanes is wrong. He never realized it until now because he had long succumbed but he just kept convincing he hadn't.

Adam turn to look at Unohana but the latter watched him with an impassive expression, like the expression of a doctor watching his chronically ill patient that is already beyond saving.

"I see. You are naive. You use that blade at the price of your memories. If you were a few thousands years old, that wouldn't have been an issue. However, you are merely a few dozen years old. Those memories and personalities you lost are replaced with those you stole, yet you never noticed it until it was too late and I am merely a victim of your idiocy." Phanes sighed and placed his right hand on his forehead.

"Ha… Haha… HAHAHAHAHAHAHA" He laughed maniacally like someone falling into insanity but his face is twisted in anger and rage.

"Never… Never in my lifetime could I imagine the worlds I painstakingly nurtured, the faith I painstakingly built and the people I gathered would all come to an end because of the hubris of an idiot who couldn't understand the weight of the power he usurped."

"Fine. Fine… then let me end your pitiful existence before you are consumed by those vengeful ghosts. Think of it as a mercy from me to put down this rabid mutt!" Phanes roared with rage

Adam is still shook by the realization aided by Deus X, he is debilitated by the realization that indeed as Deus X said, in his hubris thinking he could hold on just a little be longer, he could sacrifice just a little bit more for the promise of victory, he failed to realize the parasites had fester upon his soul.

His initial goal had been only to defeat Deus X but now, tens of thousands of worlds still burn as he stands here. The BETAs still stripping conquered worlds off their resources, the Orbital Fortresses still churning out mech armies to invade other worlds, to slaughter its denizens and allow himself to harvest their souls.

For what?

His justification was to gather power to fight Deus X on equal ground. But the truth is, he didn't need to slaughter trillions and more innocent souls to increase his power, his Zanpakuto can devour those powers off Deus X himself.

So, what was he trying to do? What was Yhwach trying to achi—?

*Stab*

Adam saw a blood drenched blue energy blade made of Reishi stabbed him from behind. Adam immediately turned around and realized who had plotted against him. Phanes paused his attack and watched with an amused look of the sudden twist that just happened.

"Yhwach!" Adam utter the name while gnashing his bloody teeth as he coughed out more blood.

Indeed so. You have my thanks, Adam. Thanks to you, I could realize the world outside of mine. Being greater than my Father, The Soul King." The Sternritter Grandmaster suddenly took off his mask and it revealed the face of a younger and youthful Yhwach looking at Adam with a smile. "But you realized it too late. Have you not realized the power of The Almighty? To alter the future. Naturally, I arranged my rebirth and merely lent you my power. However, as a thank you to everything you painstakingly prepared for me, I will definitely put them to good use and kill this God in your name, so you can rest in peace in the afterlife." Then the blade was dragged to carve out his heart as he coughed out a few mouthfuls of blood.

"Aus-"

"No! NO! NO! Don't yoU dAr—" His voice turned guttural as he choked on his own blood while he tried his best to behead Yhwach using his Zanpakuto to stop him but it was a futile attempt.

"-whälen."

*Boom*

Pillars of lights like streaks of shooting stars, covered the sky of the void and descended on the Sternritter Grandmaster which was Yhwach in disguise all along biding his time when Adam was at his weakest.

(An: I tried to cook for the past few days and bro. My brain is cooked af. The original plan was actually Aizen but I changed to Yhwach because he is more realistic explanation? I mean, for Aizen, my explanation is his lingering Will is influencing Adam but for Yhwach, his soul persisted until the Mechanical Quincy was created and he reform his soul fragments and waiting for his time to break free from Adam.
