Facing Ruth Dawn's interrogation, William Cole sighed, shook his head silently, and said, "No."

A thick disappointment flashed in Ruth's eyes. Without uttering a word, she turned around and walked away.

Minnie Wright wasn't ready to let it go. She shouted to Ruth's back, "What kind of temper are you throwing?"

"Do you think William Cole is still your husband? If you like him, just wave and he'll come running like a puppy?"

"If you don't like him, can you just kick him aside?"

Minnie smacked the table, "I don't know what question you came here to ask him today, but let me tell you this."

"You're always putting yourself first. But you never consider that the world doesn't revolve around you!"

"Think about it, William Cole was your husband before. He used to let you have your way. Now he's not. Do you think getting angry would be of any use?"
