The corner of his mouth was still bleeding, but it seemed he could no longer feel the pain. He looked at Amanda Smith, thinking to himself that if only she would comfort him, then the ache in his heart wouldn't be as unbearable right now.
But she didn't.
After he let go of her, Amanda Smith retreated to a side, her head lowered, no longer looking at him.
He couldn't tell if it was disappointment or something else, he just felt the dense, prickly pain inside his heart sharpening in that instant.
He coughed softly, the tumultuous emotions in his chest boiling to the point of discomfort.
"Amanda Smith..." His voice was somewhat hoarse as he called out her name, receiving no response whatsoever.
He was a bit frustrated and even more bewildered. He didn't know whether to continue dragging the conversation on and demanding answers or to simply walk away.
The wound at the corner of his mouth slowly clotted, tingling and aching slightly.
