You’re My Wife

Kurt provided a new nanny for Camila the other day. Cassie finally moved into Theo's mansion with her daughter. She could feel the warm welcome that day. According to Kurt, Theo ordered the maids at the mansion to prepare food for them. It was almost like a party, but the difference was that they didn't have other guests.

Of course, the mafia-like surroundings are still on, and Cassie is really uncomfortable about it. However, for the sake of her daughter and, of course, as she will get a high salary, she will endure and try to blend herself into their new atmosphere.

She checked Theo thrice in a day since they moved in. But since the man still has his injury, she needs to give extra time for him.

"Why don't you hire a nurse?" she asked while putting back the bandage on his leg.

"I doubled your salary—" he paused when Cassie suddenly met his gaze.

Cassie smirked. "I thought it was Kurt, but it turns out it was your idea. What was the last event you remember, Mr. Smith?"

Theo looked away and clenched his jaw. "Just move swiftly. I want to rest."

Cassie let out a soft chuckle. "I don't believe that you have amnesia, Mr. Smith."

Theo clenched his fist as he turned to look at her. "I don't believe that you're my fiancé either."

Cassie pushed the metal pin and locked the bandage. She stood up straight and grabbed the silver tray. "I am not telling you to believe me, Mr. Smith because I don't believe in you either. You know what, I wasn't born yesterday not to observe and find out everything. I know something is wrong."

A sly smirk formed on Theo's lips. "Clever girl. However, it has to be this way. And even if I will explain everything to you, I know you will not understand it. So, whatever Kurt's instructions, you must follow." He wiggled his brows and winked at her. "For your safety."

Cassie was perplexed, and suddenly, her heart thumped faster. And she hates this feeling whenever she's near him. She couldn't believe it. She was just trying to catch his act, but it turned out to be true. But why?

"Curiosity kills, Doctor. So, you better shut your mouth," Theo warned, and after that, he lay on his bed and closed his eyes.

Cassie arched her brow as she stared at the man's face. 'Hmm… he looks like an angel when his eyes are closed, but behind that mask is a dangerous and scary devil,' she thought.

She heaved a sigh, and after fixing her things, she left and went to their room to check on her daughter.

Theo wants them to stay in one room, but she disagreed. Those terms aren't on the document that she signed.

Yes, she signed an agreement comprising all of Kurt's terms. But who knows if Theo dictated all of it?

The fifty-year-old nanny, Marie, played with Camila when Cassie entered the room.

"You can have a snack downstairs, Nana," Cassie said as she strode closer.

The old lady smiled and nodded. "Call me if you need me, Miss."

Cassie nodded her head.

"Hello there, baby." She carried her daughter, and the young girl giggled.

"Mama!"

Cassie couldn't ask for more when her daughter came into her life. The little girl taught her how to fight for her rights. Camila makes her stronger.

She carried her daughter and brought her to Theo's room. She didn't knock and just opened the door. She frowned when she saw the man silently sleeping. It seems like Theo really needs a rest.

"Dada!"

Cassie's eyes widened when her daughter shouted, followed by her cute giggle. She immediately looked at Theo and shoot… the man was wide awake.

Theo smiled at them and pushed himself up. "Hello there?"

Cassie sighed and walked toward his bed.

"Can I carry her?" Theo asked, and that was the first time that she heard him talk in a soft and calm voice.

The man always talked with superiority in his tone.

She nodded and gently placed Camila near him. "Be good, okay. Mr. Smith—"

"Daddy," Theo corrected.

Cassie arched her brow and didn't talk again.

"Can you hold her for a while? I will just make a snack for her."

Theo glanced at her and nodded. "Make it for three," he said, making Cassie squint her eyes.

"For you, me, and our daughter," he added.

If things were almost perfect for them, she might feel elated, but she knew this was all like a game.

She just nodded and left.

Camila is not picky. Anyone can carry her. Maybe that's why she really likes Theo. Or it might be because of their connection.

No one can deny that Camila isn't Theo's daughter. The little girl got Theo's eyes, lips, and even the shape of the man's face. And all that Camila inherited from her mother is her hair.

Cassie doesn't know where this game could go. Whatever Theo's plan is, she hopes it could be for their safety.

She admits it's not hard to like the man. Indeed, it's not great to judge a book by its cover. Cassie and the others knew that Theodore Smith was a ruthless CEO in town. Rumors said that he was part of a dangerous organization called the mafia.

However, the moment she saw how Theo's eyes twinkled when he saw Camila, she felt like the man was not really that evil. Maybe it was the time and the situation that made Theo seem heartless. He has no parents… he's been living alone for years.

Cassie could understand the situation. However, would it be better if Theo explained or informed her of his plans? Doesn't she need to be aware, too?

IT WAS eight in the evening, and right after Cassie lay down her daughter on the bed, she got a call from the connecting phone from Theo, making her rush into his room.

"We just took off your bandage last week. You can walk already, and your other wounds have already healed. What the hell is still your problem?" She couldn't help but raise her voice whenever he was being stubborn. If she knew, he was just acting just to make her suffer.

What the hell with this jerk?

"Bathe me—"

"Your face!"

She was unafraid of him, especially when she was not feeling well. She keeps on sneezing, and her head throbs a little pain.

"Just a little while."

She put her hands on her waist as she glared at him. "Can't you be considerate? Can't you see or observe my situation? Ever since I became your doctor, I have done all the things around you. From delivering your food down to cleaning your freaking room."

She arched her brow when Theo let out a chuckle. Hmph! She doesn't care if he looks handsome when he does that, but she is a little exhausted right now!

"It seems like you're really getting along well… with me."

She crossed her arms in front of her chest. "Look, Mr. Smith—"

"Am I not your fiancé—"

"Shut up!" She cut him off. "We both know the truth. So, stop irritating me."

Theo's sly smirk suddenly disappeared. "I'm sorry. You may leave," he said and walked slowly toward the bathroom.

Bipolar! She pinched the bridge of her nose and massaged her temple. 'Oh, God, please help me. Give me more patience,' she reasoned.

Theo's situation is getting worse day by day. But, of course, he still needs assistance. And about his amnesia, it's all gone. He remembers everything. One day, Kurt's plans suddenly disappear, and things go their own way. And all she can do is get along. Like a river… she goes with the flow.

Seeing him like this, wincing while trying to walk, she felt guilty. She groaned and walked closer to him.

"Let me help you." She puts her right hand on his waist, and when he rests his left arm on her shoulder, a bizarre feeling appears. Bizarre?

Who am I not to know what it is? It is the one they called SPARK!

Cassie didn't know if he could feel it too, but damn, every time she was near him, her heart thumped fast, and when their skin touched, she could feel the heat, just like what had happened that night in the bar.

"Don't put too much of your heaviness on me, you jerk!" she exclaimed and glared at him, which she regretted.

When their eyes meet, which are just a few inches away, it seems like time stops. However, she always finds a way to get out of it.

"Stop looking."

Theo scoffed. "I have eyes, woman."

She rolled her eyes and pushed the bathroom door. "There, I guess you can manage, right?"

Theo didn't reply, and his eyes remained on hers.

"What?" she arched her left brow. "Don't tell me. You will let me undress you, and you will flash your d-ck again to me?"

She was a doctor. So, talking about the private parts is just normal for her.

"It so easy for you to say it, huh? Don't you like it?"

She laughed sarcastically. "Are you joking? Why would I like your d-ck? It's not that special. I've seen many," she replied, when, in fact, she didn't see any d-ck aside from his.

Theo's gaze suddenly sharpened. "Really? Have you touched them, too? How does it feel?"

She scoffed. "Seriously? Are we going to discuss about d-cks right now?"

"You started it," he said, and after that, he closed the door.

Cassie doesn't know if he's mad or what. But this is the first time that they came up with that topic.

Geez, d-ck!

She heaved a deep sigh. After that, she waited for him outside. She scans the room for a couple of minutes, and nothing changes. It's still the same. It's been a month since they moved to this house. The routine still goes just like the first day.

She was still dealing with him. Sometimes, he's stubborn, and sometimes he's not. Theo is a good father. By living with him for a month, she observed that he was a good father. He makes sure to have time with Camila. Although there was no assurance or clarification between them, she was still thankful that the person she thought heartless had really a good heart.

There are a lot of things that she wanted to ask Theo, from whys to what's. She wants to know why he robbed her father's company. Why does he need to pretend that he has amnesia and is severely injured?

What are his plans?

Does it include them?

Her thoughts were interrupted when the bathroom door opened.

"Why are you still here?"

Her forehead knitted. "What kind of question is that? Of course, I am waiting for you. Why? You can manage already?"

He didn't utter any words except his famous 'Tsk' sound.

She rolled her eyes and walked toward his walk-in closet. She grabbed gray PJs and a plain white shirt. The man is freaking rich as all his things are branded, and it's worth thousands and millions of dollars.

"Tomorrow, we have a session. You need to walk for ten minutes, have some meditation, and, of course, swim."

"Swim? Are you fucking kidding me?" he uttered.

She pressed her lips to suppress her smile. "I'm just fucking joking," she mimicked how he cussed on words. "Anyway, have a good sleep. See you tomorrow. Wake up at five. The earlier, the better. And at that time, Camila is still sleeping."

"Wake me up."

"No. Set the alarm. I am not your maid—"

"But you're my wife," he interrupted, making her eyes widen in surprise.

"Y-You—shut up!" she yelled and marched out of his room.

When she closed the door, she leaned on the wall and clutched her chest. 'Damn, why does my heartbeat so loud?'
