Escape from the Valley

As they were talking, a loud noise suddenly came from the east side of Silent Echo Valley.

Zhar'khaen's face changed instantly. He flew up to the top of the tallest tree and saw a large group of demonic beasts flying from the east. There was faint smoke rising in the distance, and nearby birds tried to attack him, only to be struck down in his anger.

"What happened? Did something happen to your companions?" Amalia asked when he came back down.

"They might be in trouble," Zhar'khaen explained. "We split up to give me a chance to find you. My companions lured the humans and devils away."

"Let's go check it out," Amalia suggested.

"You two?" Zhar'khaen glanced at them, not to be dismissive, but he genuinely doubted their ability. One was only at the Golden Core stage, and the other at the Nascent Soul stage—barely a match for their enemies.
