"Have you told her that you'll hand over all your property to Peggy after getting married?" the Old Madam asked.

It seems like Christopher was the first one to do this.

Then everyone else followed suit, thinking it was a pretty good move.

This way, the wives would never literally throw their husbands out of the house, right?

So, this has now become an unwritten pact of sorts.

Instead, everyone in their family does it.

"I didn't have time to mention it, you called me just then." Lyke admitted, sounding a tad weary.

Why was his visit to meet the parents being interrupted by the Old Madam's lengthy phone call?

Wasn't this interrupting his performance?

"Oh good, hand them the phone, I have some words to say too." The Old Madam requested.

Lyke: "..."

He was genuinely worried, would the Old Madam end up creating more problems?

"Aunt, you weren't as concerned when it came to Cindy's parents, right?" Lyke asked quietly.
