Chapter Twenty-Five:The Detective.

It's just been a day since after that night with that hot stranger, whose memories have refused to leave Marissa's mind. Not that she couldn't try to forget and go about her daily life, but she just couldn't stop thinking about him.

If this was a drug, then she's clearly intoxicated but anyone who she relates whatever that was going on in her mind would say she has gone psychopathic crazy, because how in the hell would you want to see a one night stand after he made it clear that it was just a night?

Well, that's what a good dick does to you, having been deprived of the love she craved for a long time, it's not her fault that having seen a chance that her heart was craving for that stranger's attention, she wouldn't want to give it up.

A smile graced Marissa's face, until the sound of a hand slamming hard on the counter dragged her attention back to reality, to meet Mr. Peters' angry face.

"You are slacking off, Margaret. Do you think this is your father's castle or what?"

His voice caused her migraines which she didn't want to have, all she wanted right now was to keep and hope on the fact that the fate that brought her and her one night stand together, would surely bring him to meet her someday.

A really stupid wish for a daydreamer like her, because Sasha already had plans of hooking her up with her brothers, to which the thought of that didn't settle quite well with her. She's attracted to someone else, somehow forbidden. Someone she might not have because it had never really crossed her mind to ask if he was single.

What if he's engaged?

Married?

No! There was no ring on his finger, but yet he might have taken it off just to have a good time with her, and had paid her off like some whore. The thoughts of that made her sick to the tummy, that suddenly she felt her heart seizing against her chest.

"I'm really sorry, Mr.Peters. I'm a little down with the flu." She apologized, to which he said nothing else but huffed and angrily left her to do her work.

It was really boring here without Sasha, but then there was a huge difference between them. Sasha has a family backing her up, both financially and in every other aspect despite the fact that she has issues with some of her siblings.

But she has no one. Not a father, mother nor a sibling. It was just her against the cruel world but she intends on making  a perfect life for herself, despite the circumstances surrounding her.

So, she put aside the negativity and then a hello from a lovely voice from across the counter, made her gasp the moment she locked eyes with this gentleman, who had this huge smile on his face.

"Hello, I uh… Forgive me, for being like this, I uhh.. I can't help it, you're just so beautiful?" Zyan asked, trying to hide how nervous he was in front of her. For a detective like him, he was really speechless that he couldn't form his words around this young lady.

It was not  any normal thing, but then he's been coming here daily and it was all because of her, but she doesn't notice him. The whisper behind his back reminded him how stupid he looked, and how his partner, Cole, who  knew about how he felt towards Marissa would attack him once he comes back to their table without her number.

If this was any normal girl, she would have blushed at his words, but then Marissa has already made up her mind that she wouldn't give any man a chance in her life, well if the man wasn't her hot one night stand who she's going to make an exception for.

But she didn't want to come off rude or pompous, she smiled at his comment. "Well, thank you, if you don't  mind since you aren't ordering anything, which i can see you already did…" Marissa said, glancing at where his partner was, before looking back at him." I have work to do."

She didn't have anything to do, but she just wanted to leave. Taking a break right now was the right way to avoid this young man whose eyes were filled with uncertainty, nervosity and something else she could make it to be disappointment at seeing that she wasn't interested in what he was trying to do.

Before she knew it, she was already comparing his features with that of Mr.blue eyes. He had fine blond hair, which was a no no. She loves sleek black hair. Then did the green eyes that reminded her of the cool green scenery back home at their family house, when she still had a family.

Looking into his eyes reminded her of her home, and her father but then she's relieved that the young man understood her.

"I see, I was wondering if it would be  possible to get your number, I'm really sorry if i sound so forward." Zyan said, scratching his hair, getting  rejected doesn't sit well with him because this was the first lady he was approaching all his life.

It had never really mattered to him that there would ever come a time, where he would have such desire that wasn't related to work. But then, he just can't help it. He can't explain it, he wouldn't be happy if he doesn't get her digits.

"I don't have a phone, I'm sorry but i gotta go." She said lastly, before leaving him but not without him looking at the name tag on her blouse to get her name.

Marissa.

"So, how did it go?"

While she was leaving, She heard his friend ask her admirer but she didn't care, the least of things she needed right now was attention from someone she didn't want.

But it can't be helped, because no matter where she went the men always flock around saying she was beautiful and shit, but whenever she looks in the mirror, all she sees is a broken young lady in desperate need of help before she goes crazy from the thoughts in her head.

Another important character, Zyan Miller.
