We followed Amari's instructions and ended up going to a Borana hut twice the size of the one we stayed at. There was golden lettering on the straw door that by all accounts I shouldn't understand but I somehow did.

The lettering still used the Latin alphabet rather than the Cyrillic or the complicated chicken scratches characters most of Asia uses. The text on the door was written as "Umatriarchi uZanele, unina wesizwe iSoldat."

"Matriarch Zanele, Mother of the Soldat clan," I murmured absentmindedly. 

"Wow! You can read it too Darling?"

"Yeah, if I had to guess it's because of your Ascension Jo. {Interpret} is just amazing. It can turn even someone as stupid as me into an omniglot. I am so thankful you are with me."

"Hehehe! I feel the exact same way, Darling! I love love love you!"

Unable to resist her adorable smiles, I took Jo in my arms and leaned in to take her lips.
