Choices

Adam booking a room at the inn, handing over a couple of silver, was able to get a room.

Shortly after, in his room, seated on the bed, the sunlight streaming through the window, Adam opened his status.

A gleeful smirk bumping the corners of his mouth up as he saw that he had leveled up twice for completing the quests with heroic yield.

Now level 26, with 10 more stat points in his possession, he was making great progress.

Within the system inventory, he found the Cheat Selection Ticket, a Skill Usurping Ticket, and 2 gold coins.

Adam would not complain about the 2 additional gold coins that were almost certainly from the Heroic Yield Skill.

It soothed the loss of the gold coin he used at the healer.

Looking at the cheat selection ticket, he promptly used it.

The cheat selection ticket ripping into particles, the selection interface manifested before him.

Imagining he pulled down the lever, the slots which were overlaid with unreadable text blurred.

Quickly, the boxes stopped moving, having stilled, displayed the three choices.

1) Sleepless

2) Info

3) Dream Temperance

Adam unsure of what each choice did, looked at each skill's description.

[Sleepless: You no longer need to sleep. Your fatigue recovery rate is boosted.]

That was simple enough to get the jist of how it worked.

It would increase the time he could be productive in a day if sleep was no longer something to schedule around. He would have loved it on Earth, how much reading could he have done...

[Info: You are able to see the details of things in your view that you focus on. The more knowledgeable you are of what you are looking at, the more you can see, reduced if not in the range of your power. Skill is effective on plants, ores, metals, items, creatures, people.]

This decision would be quite difficult for Adam to make. Knowledge always had a place at the dinnertable. It would be good in understanding the dangers and benefits of things he comes across.

[Dream Temperance: You can select a skill you will unconsciously develop and become increasingly proficient in while you are asleep.]

Adam's present skills were not active, so he doubted that Dream Temperance which would otherwise be amazing if he had active skills, would be the best choice for him.

Grabbing his head, he groaned. This was not an easy choice at all.

Sleepless nearly doubled the time he had available to train, hunt, etc.

Info could very well save his hide one day. He might fight an enemy, that he underestimated, if it looked weak.

Adam realized he was getting slightly ahead of himself.

As for Dream Temperance, it had no current use for him.

Mastery of skills would be accelerated if they could be progressed while he slept.

Adam wondered for the two skills that would be skipped over, when he made a choice, if they would appear again.

Even if they could appear again, that could be a long time and be far less useful to him.

Gripping one hand into a fist, with his other he selected the Info skill from the list.

Having more knowledge about threats that would otherwise be hidden shouldn't be neglected. His strength may have significantly risen, but that's all.

He needed to match his insight with his strength, else it would be like swinging a giant sword at an archer, where he would be killed before he found out how to win.

Whispering, Adam muttered: "You will be missed Dream Temperance and Sleepless."

The selection initialized, his eyes stung, forcing them closed to resist the pain.

A shiver ran down his spine that spread through his nerves.

Gradually, he opened his eyes as the pain dissipated.

He looked around, staring at the bed, a box appeared.

[Plain Bed: Slightly messy bed, with basic craftsmanship.]

Shaking his head he headed out to try the Info skill on a person.

He did not choose the info skill to know about furniture.

Locking eyes on the person at the inn's front desk, another screen appeared.

[Dave Minnson, Level 3, Human. Staff of Hastedil Inn. Miniscule threat.]

The Info skill was solid so far. Knowing the level alone, would likely save him so many headaches.

Although, the skill had mentioned within his range, so levels may not appear if he used it on the Demon King right now.

Returning to his room, facing the mirror, he activated info, a box pulled into view.

[Adam Wildeblood, Level 26, Human. No Class. Looking at themselves in the mirror. No threat.]

Chuckling, Adam sat back on the bed, his lips downturned, as he slightly wished he had selected Sleepless instead.

Though, how if he had chosen it, would that have worked with the Dream Temperance Skill, as he would not sleep.

Shrugging, he looked at the inventory, where the Skill Usurping Ticket hung in his line of sight.

Thinking of it, the description appeared.

[Skill Usurping Ticket: Sometimes there are abilities, powers, skills the host would love to have. This ticket allows you to deprive the person, without their permission or knowledge, of one skill you know they possess. Skill proficiency does not transfer and success could be impacted if they become aware during the transfer process.]

Adam on one hand was amazed. But, on the other, he was concerned, who would he take an ability from? Should he?

His imagination raging, he settled that it was okay to use the ticket on a person, if he did not like them.

Though Elaina had that impressive sounding Mana skill, he did not want to do something so mean.

She was kind, in his opinion, the best of the summoned bunch, if he was excluded.

Scoffing, as he pondered.

His go to choice was Marcaine.

Unfortunately, his skill did not meet his expectations.

He supposed he would keep onto the ticket for now, and use it when he found a person that was worth it.

Having finished with sorting his recent rewards, Adam laid on the bed and slept.

Adam would look for a difficult quest tomorrow.

When he woke up early the next morning, brushed with the rays of the sun, Adam looked out the window.

It was a good day to begin a quest.
