Tony Stark took a look and realized the situation was dire. He quickly flew up, attempting to escape, but the planets were too enormous. Before Tony Stark could fly beyond their diameter, he was directly hit.
Under the tremendous impact, the ground shattered into pieces, and the people on it were thrown into the air.
Peter Parker used his webbing to catch each person floating in the air, preventing them from being thrown into unknown places.
In the sky, meteor-like fireballs were continuously falling, and Thanos walked calmly in this apocalyptic scene.
Opposite him, Stephen Strange floated down to the ground.
The scene darkened, and the video ended.
"Quill, can I ask you a favor?" As soon as the video ended, Tony Stark immediately walked up to Peter Quill and looked into his eyes.
"What is it?" Peter Quill asked.
"Can you leave the group chat?" Tony Stark said.
"Huh?"
"Forget about Thanos, the Guardians of the Galaxy don't need to get involved. Leave it to us," Tony Stark showed no mercy to Peter Quill, "You not only didn't help us, but you also made things worse. If it weren't for you at that time, Thanos might have already been defeated."
"Quill, Thor is being a bit straightforward, but he's telling the truth," Thor added, "I think our chances against Thanos are better without you."
"Hey! What are you all doing? Holding a trial? Do you think I really want to go fight Thanos?" Peter Quill spread his hands, "Everyone, those things never even happened!"
"It probably doesn't make a difference," Bruce Banner chimed in.
"What doesn't make a difference?" Tony Stark asked.
"Whether Quill hits Thanos with his hammer or not, it probably doesn't make a difference," Bruce Banner said in a serious tone, "You see, before that big battle, Stephen had watched over 14 million possible futures. I don't believe he didn't see a scenario where Quill hit Thanos with the hammer. He definitely saw it, but he didn't warn Quill, and he didn't stop him from doing it. This means, in the futures he observed, it doesn't make a difference. Regardless of whether Quill hits Thanos or not, in the end, Thanos wins."
"Bruce makes sense," Steve Rogers, who initially thought Peter Quill should stay out of it, changed his perspective after Bruce Banner's explanation. "Since Stephen didn't react at all, it's certain that the outcome won't change."
"Even so, being able to make that kind of choice in that situation is enough to qualify as a lousy teammate," Tony Stark maintained his distance, "I don't want to work with a lousy teammate."
"Hahaha! You guys are making it sound like I really want to cooperate with you," Peter Quill laughed heartily, "As if I care about teaming up with you."
[Question Nine begins. Please be prepared.]
[Please watch the following video.]
As the footage appeared, the figure of Vision appeared before everyone.
"Vision, it's Vision!" Bruce Banner exclaimed with joy, moving forward to give Vision a hug. "You can't imagine how excited I am to see a familiar face. I've really had enough of those disgusting, unrecognizable faces."
"One of the advantages of being a machine is that zombies have zero interest in me," Vision said lightly.
"I see, so you can keep the zombies away from you," Bruce Banner commented.
Vision led Bruce Banner's group into the base, explaining as they walked, "The Mind Stone emits a frequency that they dislike."
"Does this mean that the infection is actually a brain disorder?" Bruce Banner asked.
"The virus invasion overloads the brain's limbic system, so when I noticed that the infected individuals had a negative reaction to the Mind Stone, I conducted an experiment to see if directed exposure could reverse their condition," Vision explained as he walked to a row of computers.
"So, did you succeed?" Okoye asked.
"See for yourselves!" Suddenly, a voice sounded, but there was no one else in the room. Just as everyone was looking around to figure out who was speaking, the voice continued, "Damn it, can someone turn me around? My entrance was too awkward; I need to automate this chair."
Vision went over and turned the chair around, revealing a head in front of everyone.
Exactly, it's just a head.
Scott Lang's head.
Or rather, that is Scott Lang.
The current Scott Lang is now just a head, enclosed in a transparent glass container.
"The key is that I cured him," Vision looked at the head of Scott Lang on the chair and said.
"So, does that mean you can save others?" Peter Parker asked.
"In theory, yes," Vision said, "but..."
"But we need to connect to the satellite network and spread the frequency of the Mind Stone throughout the world," Bruce Banner finished the sentence for Vision.
"Speaking of which, in theory, it's possible, but currently, humans haven't developed such technology," Vision said.
"Wakanda might be able to do it," Okoye said, "Our energy barrier has made it the last refuge for humanity."
The scene paused here, and the question appeared.
"Of the following characters, who successfully left the Lehigh Camp?"
A) Vision
B) The Hulk (Bruce Banner)
C) Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
D) The Winter Soldier (Bucky Barnes)
"For answering this question correctly, you'll be rewarded with the 'Blessing of the Moon Goddess,' which enhances your abilities tenfold during the night. Answering incorrectly will deduct one year of life."
"Moon Goddess? Is there such a deity?" Steve Rogers asked Thor.
"Never heard of it," Thor shook his head, "But the reward sounds quite good – amplifying abilities tenfold."
"This question seems pretty straightforward," Loki remarked, "It should be Vision, right? He's extremely powerful by himself, with a terrifying ultimate move. The Mind Stone's light beam could obliterate even a horde of zombies. Plus, he's not human, so zombies wouldn't even notice him."
"His body can also phase through objects," Clint Barton said, "Even if zombies were interested in him, he could just phase through them – they wouldn't touch a hair on his head."
"Exactly, Vision is a robot, he could sleep in a pile of zombies, and they wouldn't bother him," Scott Lang said, "It's definitely him."
"If the answer is Vision, then does that mean Bruce can't leave?" Steve Rogers interjected.
"In this zombie apocalypse, the Hulk should be invincible," Stephen Strange said, "With his defense, what zombies could breach it? They'd break their teeth trying to bite him, wouldn't they?"
"But unfortunately, it just so happens that in this zombie world, the Hulk doesn't want to come out, Bruce can't transform, he's just a regular person," Phil Coulson said, "It's a pity, with such immense power, he ends up dying in a weakened state."
"Dying? It's probably not as you imagine," Bruce Banner shook his head, "I don't know why the Hulk isn't coming out in this zombie world, but we're interconnected. If I die, he dies too. How could he allow that to happen?"
"So, you're saying you could transform?" Nick Fury asked.
"When facing the Abomination, I didn't transform, but I wasn't in mortal danger then, not facing life and death," Bruce Banner said, "Yes, when I'm at the brink of death, the Hulk will definitely show up to save the day."
"If the Hulk emerges, those zombies wouldn't stand a chance," Natasha Romanoff said, "But the question also mentions Vision, and compared to the Hulk, Vision clearly has the advantage. He's not even a target for zombie attacks."
"So, here comes the interesting plot twist," Tony Stark said, "Who could have possibly left the Hulk behind?"
"It's unlikely that any of these superheroes could challenge the Hulk, even if they turned into zombies," Scott Lang looked at Thor, "It wouldn't be you, would it, Thor? You turned into a zombie and attacked the Hulk?"
"How could it be me!" Thor shook his head vigorously, "Could mere zombies truly pose a threat to me?"
"It's not Thor," Steve Rogers said, "At this time, Thor should be encountering Thanos on the spaceship and then meeting the Guardians of the Galaxy. He's not even on Earth."
"If it's not Thor, then who else could possibly contend with the Hulk?" Scott Lang said.
Then, everyone's gaze turned to Wanda Maximoff.
Up to this point in the video, apart from the recently introduced Guardians of the Galaxy, most of the core members of the Avengers had been revealed. The characters who could potentially challenge the Hulk included Thor, Stephen Strange, Wanda Maximoff, Carol Danvers, and Vision, among others.
Currently, Stephen was a zombie, Carol Danvers and Thor were not on Earth. Considering these factors, it seemed likely to be Scarlet Witch.
"Me?" Wanda Maximoff was also a bit bewildered, "Are you saying I've turned into a zombie too?"
"It seems that way, only you remain, no one else could have left the Hulk behind," Tony Stark said.
"Wanda turning into a zombie is really beyond belief," Pietro Maximoff couldn't help but say.
"Have we not encountered plenty of unbelievable things?" Steve Rogers countered, "Even Tony and Stephen have become zombies. This world was already bizarre."
"With Vision absent, Bruce, Peter, Bucky, the three of you, decide who answers the question," Nick Fury said.
"I just answered, and got a pretty good reward. Let's give this chance to little Peter and Dr. Banner," Bucky Barnes said.
"I dare not answer, in case I'm correct, and then the Hulk comes out at night – it's too dangerous, even with the sanity bracelet, I won't risk it," Bruce Banner said to Peter Parker, "Little Peter, you answer."
"Thank you, Mr. Banner," Peter Parker knew the reward was good and didn't refuse, "Choose A!"
"Wrong answer! Deduct one year of life!"
"Vision couldn't leave either?" Scott Lang said in surprise, "How could he not have left?"
"Indeed, even if there are zombies of Wanda's caliber there, but Vision isn't even a target for zombies, why hasn't he left?" Bruce Banner said.
"Unless Lehigh Camp has enemies other than zombies," Tony Stark said, "Remember, during this period, there were 'guests' from beyond Earth who came to Earth."
"Thanos?" Steve Rogers said, "It's likely, after the Abomination and the Black Dwarf, Thanos also came to Earth, and he's the one who left Vision behind."
"If Thanos came, then the earlier conclusion that Wanda left the Hulk could also be overturned," Pietro Maximoff said, "Perhaps it was Thanos who left the Hulk."
"Maybe I didn't turn into a zombie, but instead, I fought against Thanos with everyone," Wanda Maximoff said.
"Yes, that's a possibility," Nick Fury said.
"Abomination and Black Dwarf turned into zombies as soon as they arrived on Earth, so why didn't Thanos get the same treatment?" Scott Lang said, "Just imagining how Thanos would look as a zombie fills me with an inexplicable excitement."
"Although we already have a powerful figure like Stephen turned into a zombie ahead of us, Thanos becoming a zombie is truly beyond belief," Phil Coulson said, "Remember, Thanos is not only powerful himself, by the time he arrived on Earth, he already had several Infinity Stones."
At this point, the video started playing again, and Bucky Barnes turned with his gun and walked away, "I'll search the base, maybe I can find a means of transportation."
"Sergeant Barnes, you won't find it," Vision's voice came from afar, directed at Bucky Barnes' back.
Bucky Barnes ignored Vision, used his flashlight, and started searching the base.
After a while, he pushed open a door and entered a room.
In the darkness, a figure stood there.
Bucky Barnes had keen senses and almost immediately sensed someone behind him.
He swiftly turned around, pulled his gun, and fired two shots, "Bang, bang."
Under the flashlight's illumination, the newly appeared zombie was none other than Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff, one of the top combatants of the Avengers.
"Stop, you'll anger her," another voice came from the darkness.
"T'Challa?" Bucky Barnes recognized the voice of an old friend and quickly opened two curtains to rush over, seeing T'Challa lying on an iron bed.
However, at this moment, T'Challa was in a terrible state, looking weak and missing half of his leg.
"Who did this to you?" Bucky Barnes hurriedly ran to T'Challa's side.
"There's little time left, we must escape quickly, right now!" T'Challa said.
When Bucky Barnes found T'Challa in the base, outside, Bruce Banner also noticed some anomalies.
"Based on the contents of these safety logs, it's not just us who responded to Vision's signal," Bruce Banner found something amiss when examining the safety logs.
"Are there other survivors?" Peter Parker asked quickly, "Where are they?"
The question arose, since other survivors had been here, why hadn't they been seen?
Why hadn't Vision mentioned anything about it?
"Sorry, Dr. Banner, I really wish you hadn't found us," Peter Parker and Bruce Banner speculated, and Vision finally spoke up.
"Vision, what exactly is this place?" Bruce Banner couldn't help but ask.
"It's a trap," T'Challa's voice came, and Bucky Barnes helped him over, "Vision took me away in San Francisco, I thought he was saving me, but he just went out to get takeout."
"He kept T'Challa to feed his zombie bride," Bucky Barnes pointed his gun at Vision.
"That goth girl?" Scott Lang clearly recognized Wanda Maximoff, "I knew something was off!"
"Her name is Wanda," Vision turned his head to look at Scott Lang, "I understand your anger, and I assure you, though my actions are despicable, they are logical."
"Wait, I don't quite understand," Peter Parker interjected, "You saved the talking head but couldn't save her?"
"Her powers are too strong, making treatment ineffective," Vision floated in mid-air and explained, "The only way was to restrain her and her hunger."
"Why not eliminate her?" Okoye asked.
For what reason? Of course, it's because of love!
"I...," Vision descended from the air to the ground, "I can't do it."
"Are you using the guise of love to lure innocent people to their doom?" Bruce Banner still found it somewhat unbelievable; was this really something former superheroes could do?
"I still haven't fully grasped what I've done," Vision lowered his head, his voice heavy.
"So you probably have no objections to realizing human justice, right?" Okoye raised her spear high, about to strike Vision's head.
But before she could strike, a strange sound emerged, like some kind of beast breathing.
"You've awakened her," Vision said, "She hasn't fed for several days."
The group quickly turned their heads to look in the direction Vision was facing.
They saw a door not far away suddenly emit a scarlet light, then with a loud bang, the iron door was blasted open by an invisible force.
Scott Lang's friend, Kurt, happened to be standing in front of that iron door. He clearly saw a distorted figure on the other side of the door.
Swoosh!
In the next moment, Kurt's body uncontrollably flew towards the iron door.
It's unclear whether Kurt was devoured, but in the blink of an eye, Wanda Maximoff flew in, coming to the group's presence.
Bang, bang, bang!
Bucky Barnes raised his gun and shot at Wanda Maximoff. She raised her hand, and the iron door that had been sent flying soared back into the air, blocking all the bullets.
With a casual wave of her hand, the iron door shot towards Bucky Barnes. Luckily, he reacted quickly and dodged to the side in time.
However, Scott Lang, who was on the chair, couldn't escape. The iron door collided with his chair, knocking it askew. Just as it was about to fall to the ground and shatter, a cape suddenly fluttered over, carrying him away.
Peter Parker jumped over, extending his hands, and immediately entangled Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff with his webs.
Okoye raised her hand, and her spear shot towards the entangled Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff in the air. However, she shuddered, and a surge of energy erupted, instantly dissolving the webs that had bound her, and the spear was nowhere to be seen.
"Vision, we need your help!" Bruce Banner shouted at Vision, "Help us escape from here!"
"My Doctor, I believe you are right," Vision looked up deeply at the airborne Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff for a moment, and for some unknown reason, he suddenly changed his stance. He looked up again, turned to another direction, and a dazzling light shot from his forehead, blasting a large hole in the wall. Everyone escaped from the base through this hole.
But as Okoye jumped up in the end, her entire body suddenly mysteriously suspended in mid-air.
"Okoye!" T'Challa couldn't help but call out; anyone could tell that this situation wasn't good.
"Your Highness, long live Wakanda!" Okoye left behind these words, and her whole body flew backward. Before the mighty General of Wakanda, she appeared as fragile as a baby before Wanda Maximoff.
Vision flew into the air, a bright light emanating from his forehead again, cutting a circle around the base. With a loud boom, the base was immediately plunged underground.
"We don't have much time," Vision descended from the sky, pointing in a direction, "There's a Quinjet in the hangar."
"You're not coming with us?" Bruce Banner asked.
"I must atone for my actions," Vision turned his head and glanced in the direction of the base, "But I cannot allow myself to leave her."
As he spoke, Vision grabbed the Mind Stone from his forehead with one hand and forcibly pulled it out!
Thud!
With the Mind Stone gone, Vision collapsed on the ground, his entire body devoid of color.
This alternate world's Vision still met his end by losing the Mind Stone.
But this had nothing to do with Thanos; it was his own choice.
Bruce Banner bent down to pick up the Mind Stone from the ground, about to leave. Suddenly, the rubble on the ground floated up, then burst apart, and a figure stood proudly suspended in the air.
It was none other than Wanda Maximoff, who had just been buried by Vision using the base.
She was truly too powerful; being buried underground posed no challenge to her. In a matter of moments, she emerged.
Bucky Barnes, seeing this, raised his gun again and aimed at the airborne Wanda Maximoff.
"Go!" he shouted, turning to Bruce Banner and the others. Then he began firing in rapid succession.
However, those bullets, when they reached Wanda Maximoff, hung in the air and couldn't move forward.
Wanda Maximoff descended from the sky, gazing at Vision's lifeless body. Despite being a zombie, a sorrowful expression appeared on her face.
In this moment, she paid no attention to Bucky Barnes, focusing solely on Vision. Even so, Bucky Barnes couldn't harm her in the slightest.
With a casual wave of her hand, the suspended bullets immediately reversed course and shot back towards Bucky Barnes. He raised his shield and blocked the bullets.
Bang, bang, bang!
Despite the futility of the attack, Bucky Barnes didn't give up, continuously shooting at Wanda Maximoff.
