Chapter 28: Thor in First Grade

The chapter begins with the announcement of a new question in the quiz."Question 1: Who said the line 'Pathetic god' during the Battle of New York?"

A. Thor, the God of Thunder

B. Bruce Banner, the Hulk

C. Tony Stark, Iron Man

D. Stephen Strange, Doctor Strange

"A chance to wield Mjolnir as a reward?!" Thor's fist clenched upon seeing the reward. "Such audacity! Mjolnir is mine! Only I am worthy to wield it, no one else!"

"Thor, did you forget that the hammer is currently in New Mexico?" Clint Barton mercilessly shattered Thor's argument. "I can't speak for others, but you, right now, don't seem to have the qualifications to pick up the hammer."

"So, I'm no longer worthy?" Thor raised his head again. "Fath—"

"Come on, can you stop calling for your dad every now and then? You're not three years old anymore," Phil Coulson expressed his exasperation at Thor's habit of constantly calling for his father.

"Thor, do you want to lift the hammer again?" Clint Barton said. "Then let's answer the question. If you get it right, you'll be able to lift it."

"Is this reward for real?" Thor pointed to the text. "It seems ridiculous to deduct lifespan for a wrong answer."

"Don't whine, Thor. As someone who has answered before, I can assure you it's all real. In the previous round, I answered a question correctly and was rewarded with a set of Mark armor. I answered one question incorrectly and lost a year of lifespan," Tony Stark said. Although he found Thor quite repugnant, he decided not to argue with him considering that Thor would become a member of the Avengers in the future and fight alongside them.

"Has your lifespan been deducted?" Thor stared at Tony Stark. "How do you know that?"

"While I did feel something draining from my body at the time, it was just a sensation. In fact, there is no solid evidence to confirm it," Tony Stark thought for a moment and said, "But the rewards were tangible and appeared right in front of me."

"You mean the Mark armor? What is that?"

"At least it's something that won't get lost," Tony Stark shrugged. "It should be more reliable than your hammer."

"Although I don't know what you mean by Mark armor, if I had my hammer, I could easily smash it."

"But you don't have the hammer right now, do you?"

"Let's analyze the question first," Clint Barton, holding his bow, took a big step and walked up to Tony Stark. "Stark, the 'Battle of New York' mentioned in the question should be referring to the invasion by the Chitauri in New York, right?"

"Correct, it's that one," Tony Stark fiercely glared at Thor before continuing, "Some people don't know the background of the Battle of New York, so let me briefly explain. Two or three years later, Loki from Asgard stole the Tesseract from Nick Fury..."

"Wait, did you say the Tesseract?" Thor paused, finding it hard to believe. "The Tesseract was on Earth?"

"Crybaby, hold on for a moment," Tony Stark made a hushing gesture near his mouth with his finger before continuing, "Loki used the Tesseract to open a portal in the sky over New York, and the Chitauri army entered through that portal. Nick Fury led the Avengers and eventually defeated the Chitauri."

"Hello, Stark. Clint Barton," Clint Barton reached out his hand to Tony Stark. "One of the members of the Avengers."

"Hello, Barton," Tony Stark shook Clint Barton's hand.

"Two grown men holding hands so tightly, isn't it disgusting?" Thor looked at them with disgust.

"Usually, only a neckbeard would say such a thing, and you eat so much," Clint Barton turned to Thor and said, "Thor, I can see you becoming a neckbeard in the future."

"That day will never come!"

"Are you sure you don't want to shake hands?" Clint Barton extended his hand to Thor again. "You're also a member of the Avengers."

"Did I also join this boy band?" Thor shook his head vigorously. "I can't sing!"

"My goodness, how did such an annoying person become a member of the Avengers?" Tony Stark found Thor repulsive once again. "Nick Fury shouldn't turn a blind eye all the time. We need to be stricter in our selection process!"

"Stark, we understand the question, but what about the options? Don't you want to introduce them?" Phil Coulson quickly asked another question when he saw the two about to argue again.

"I think you're referring to that Doctor Strange, Stephen Strange," Tony Stark shook his head. "Sorry, I don't know much about this person either."

"I did find several doctors named Stephen Strange, but they were all ordinary people," Clint Barton briefly explained his search results. "I could take them all down by myself. I don't think the option can be an ordinary person without any fighting skills."

"Did any of those Stranges you found go by the nickname Doctor Strange?" Tony Stark asked.

"There was only one whom everyone called a 'sanctimonious jerk.' I don't know if that counts as a nickname."

"It seems like you didn't find the right person."

"I'll keep looking."

"Sorry to interrupt," Thor interjected. "Can someone introduce the Hulk and Iron Man to me?"

"The name Tony Stark is written right after 'Iron Man.' Can't you see it?" Tony Stark pointed to option C and said impatiently.

"I thought it might be a coincidence," Thor glanced up and down at Tony Stark. "It's not my fault. You just don't look like a hero."

"Perhaps," Tony Stark said. "But at least I won't be taken down by an electric weapon."

"Stark! Let's settle this one-on-one!" Thor suddenly became as angry as a cat whose tail had been stepped on, ready to explode. "If you lose, you better keep your mouth shut!"

"Even if I keep my mouth shut, the fact that you were taken down by an electric weapon won't be erased," Tony Stark said. "Besides, I can't keep my mouth shut anyway."

"Stark always sounds like he's in kindergarten. Thor, I thought you were in first grade," Clint Barton sighed and rubbed his forehead. He couldn't bear it anymore. Seriously, are these the superheroes who are supposed to save the world in the future? Do they have to be so childish and start arguing in just a few words?
