Chapter 12

"Last time I checked everyone voted for Brianna to be the lead" Noa returned in a frosty tone.

"News flash Noa in the real world we don't vote we audition and choose the best and last time I checked I was the best and still am. Hell I was chosen as the white swan only after learning how to ballet dance in two months.If you ask me the lead role is mine" Wren sassed out as she put her hand on her hips and now I noticed the purple skirt and long sleeve t-shirt she was wearing. Along with thigh high pink socks and white sneakers.

The colour purple somehow blinded Cardan's eyes.

Noa squeezing a paper was prepared to answer before she was cut off by Brianna coming forward "She-she isn't wrong she deserves the lead spot."

"At least you have the brain to admit it" Wren cheerily exclaimed.

"Anna-" Before Noa could say anything Brianna ran out of the room in tears. Noa's hand was outstretched to where Brianna was a few moments ago.

"Noa" Cardan finally opened his lips as he made his way to her. Seemingly to have noticed him she greeted him.

"...Ah Cardan how are you" Noa finally said after a while. Noa wanted to go after Brianna but she didn't want to be rude to Cardan plus Anna would like some time alone.

Putting her hand through her buzz-cut Noa's glare returned once more as she looked at Wren "You bi*tch" Noa sneered which caused even me to flinch away I'd be lying if I said she didn't look hot.

Surprisingly Wren didn't flinch as she just looked at her pink dyed nails "A bi*tch is a female dog" Wren paused

"You're point" Noa asked getting angrier by the moment.

"Well dogs bark and a bark comes from a tree which is from nature and nature is beautiful" one of Wren's minions said.

"Therefore didn't you just call me beautiful I'm not surprised after all I am beautiful " Wren said as she fanned her face.

"Excuse me Cardan" not even waiting for me to say anything Noa left.

Following after Noa I left the theatre room. Seeing how far she was right now I immediately ran to her.

Noticing that she was going to the rooftop my steps followed as well.

As soon as we were both there she paused as she wrapped her hands around herself.

"Cardan please leave" she murmured.

Making my way closer to her I turned my gaze to the basketball players.

"What happened?" I asked after a momentary silence.

"Ha... Wren happened" she said sarcastically. "You don't know how infuriating she is"

"Trust me I know enough" I added with a chuckle.

"Oh I forgot she introduced herself to you."

"Please don't tell me the matter spread" Cardan turned to her.

"Nope it was Zaden who told me" she replied with a closed mouthed smile. We remained like that for a while as the cool breeze moved past us and shouts coming from the basketball court filled our silence.

"Brianna has been my friend for as long as I can remember. She would defend me all the time before year ten. You know I used to be called big foot" Noa laughed in mockery a contrast to the frown on Cardan's face.

"Who?"

"What...?" Noa turned to Cardan in question her cold eyes softening.

"Who called you big foot" Cardan explained.

Widening her eyes Noa laughed"And why do you want to know are you gonna kill them when you find them" she managed to say.

"I may as well" Cardan replied his eyes becoming gentle as well but he was still serious.

Noa didn't take him seriously though "It's in the past plus Brianna made sure no one called me big foot again in fact Zaden even-" cutting herself off Noa covered her mouth as if she was about to say something she wasn't supposed to.

'Zaden what.' Cardan wondered.

"Your friend made sure of it how?" Cardan said instead.

Sending him a look of relief she said "Yep I don't know what she did and how she did it but all I know is that after we became friends I was less bullied and teased."

"Is that why you're so overprotective of her?" Cardan asked.

"You could say that plus the fact that she was my first friend ever. She's shy and gets shaken rather easily" Noa said a small smile making its way to her face.

"Yet someone who gets shaken easily was able to stop your bullying" for some reason Cardan thought that it didn't sound right.

"Surprising I know but it was her determination she says"

"And you believe her"

"She's my friend of cause I do"

"Mmm" was all Cardan said. Looks like just telling her something was fishy about her little friend wouldn't work. It needed proof.

"Why didn't you go after her?" Cardan asked as soon as the question appeared in his head.

"She likes to be alone in moments like this" Noa replied nonchalantly.

"So you in the drama club" Cardan changed the topic. Speaking about other people had been tiring.

"Yes"

"You honestly don't look like the type and I don't mean it as an insult" Cardan said gently.

"I get that a lot and no I don't think it's an insult. Some people even think I joined to accompany Anna but it was because after watching [Vengeance] with the leading actress Cloe Haung I'd wanted to become like her in fact it was how me and Anna became friends" she finished with an air of nostalgia.

"The same Cloe who acted in [Undercover]"

"Wait you know her. Why am I even surprised she's famous" she grinned at Cardan.

"Believe it or not that movie taught me how to clean" literally.

"No" she exclaimed with a sparkle of amusement in her eyes.

"I'm serious" plus Cardan had met her already wasn't she even married to his elder cousin James Chang. So he'd met her twice then.

"I want to be just like her. Elegant, beautiful and charming"

"I don't think you're far off from that"

"You think?"

"Mmmh you might even find your own James while you're at it"

"If I do you think my wedding will be just as big of an event"

"I don't doubt it" Cardan gently said as his eyes stared into hers. He'd make sure it would be even better.

After all Cardan was the most extravagant. Blame it on his grandfather from his mother's side.

"But I honestly don't want a big wedding just a small gathering of close friends and family is enough" Noa added which brought Cardan out of his thought process.

"As long as you're happy I'm sure your James will fulfill your dreams"

"What makes you so sure?"

"Because I'm you're James my dear Noa" Noa looked at Cardan as if transfixed. He was so-so him and yet the way he spoke was gentle and elegant a contrast to what Zaden had told her.

"You're just pulling my leg Carden" Noa finally said.

Cardan stared deep inside her eyes as if searching for something she didn't know what it was but that stare alone made her nervous enough to turn her eyes away.

"I'm not pulling your leg and if I where it wouldn't be to fool a girl especially one that I like" Cardan stated.

A silence followed after a while it was filled with ackwardness on Noa's side trying to break it she asked him a question "How do you manage to sound so elegant?" Cardan looked back at her as if surprised by her question but she didn't look at him.

"Would you believe me if I said it was because I wanted to be someone's James" his words caused a shake of amusement out of Noa.

"So ice queen" Cardan changed the topic which let a laugh out of Noa. A laugh that brought a smile to Cardan's lips.

"I guess it's because I turn into ice when I'm moody..."

Noa and Cardan's conversation continued for a few more minutes before Noa decided to go looking for Brianna.

"Thanks for this Cardan" Noa said as she stood in front of the door.

"I was honoured" Cardan replied before Noa left.

Cardan sighed as he looked at the still playing basketball team. He and Noa had been speaking for a while now and he'd forgotten for how long but looking at the basketball team he didn't think that it was any longer than forty minutes.

Letting a sigh out of his lips Cardan began making his way to class.
