Chapter 19: Spar with Gambit

Law and Gambit went to an abandoned place to have a battle. Law had already created a ROOM surrounding the place.

As the battle begins, Gambit charged into action, his deck of explosive cards at the ready. His eyes lock onto his opponent, who smiled while taunting him by waving a fan.

Gambit didn't seem affected by the taunt and said "Well, mon ami, let's see if your tricks can match mine. Prepare to be blown away!"

Gambit charged forward, charging his cards with explosive energy. He hurls them towards Law, but just as the cards approach, Law created a barrier, effortlessly defending against the projectiles as well as the explosion that followed suit.

Gambit looked shocked at that "What in tarnation? That ain't right!"

Gambit leaped back, assessing the situation. He quickly devised a new plan, charging a card with kinetic energy and flicking it toward the ground. The resulting explosion sends debris flying in every direction.

Gambit: "Let's see how ya handle this, cher!"

But before the debris reached Law, he used Takt as he telekinetically controlled the debris and hurled them back towards Gambit who could only helplessly dodge the falling debris.

Law continued to wave his fan at Gambit mockingly and said "Is that the best you can do?"

Law held Benihime still in a cane in a gun-like position.

'Injection shot'

Gambit, frustrated but determined, charged forward once again. He switched his tactics, used his agility to dodge the small energy projectile attacks while launching a flurry of charged cards from various angles.

Gambit: "I'll keep ya on yer toes, Cajun style!"

But each time Gambit's cards approach, Law would swiftly redirect the cards away neutralizing their explosive energy.

Gambit's eyes widened in surprise. "Well, ain't that somethin'. Looks like I've got a real challenge on my hands."

Law just smirked under his mask and pointed his finger towards Gambit.

'Hado #4: White Lightning (Byakurai)'

He fired bolts of white lightning from his fingertips. Gambit managed to dodge the first two bolts but was hit by the third bolt and was sent flying.

He got up as his clothes and some of his skin appeared to be burned.

Gambit didn't give up and took out his Bo staff and charged it with kinetic energy as he engaged Law in close combat.

Law was too lazy to deal with it so he just shambled Gambit's Bo staff with a stone.

Gambit was surprised by this but charged the stone with kinetic energy and threw it towards Law who just shambled himself out of the range of the explosion.

Law looked at Gambit and said "Your attacks are impressive, Gambit, but futile against my abilities. It's time to end this."

Gambit narrowed his eyes, realizing the immense challenge before him. "Y'know, I've faced a lot of opponents, but you really take the cake. But I'm not one to back down."

Law shambled himself behind Gambit with electricity flowing from his hand.

'Counter Shock'

Gambit got shocked with electricity and got knocked down.

Law stood over the fallen Gambit. He extended a hand towards his defeated opponent, offering assistance.

Gambit accepted Law's hand and pulled himself up, still catching his breath. He grinned, a touch of admiration in his eyes. "Can't deny that your powers are somethin' else. You got skills I've never seen before."

He continued "If Stryker gets to know about your abilities, he would surely allot every manpower he has to hunt you down hahaha."

Law smiled underneath his mask at that and said confidently "He can try but whatever he sends my way to hunt me down would get hunted instead."

Gambit laughed at that and asked "Where to now boss?"

"Let's first go and meet the other member of the team." Law said as they got in a car and drove to the hotel where Emma was staying.

Both Emma and Remy hit it off as they were both of similar age and had faced quite the similar situations. Emma was sold as a slave and was kept like a prisoner by Vincent.

On the other hand, Gambit was caught by Stryker and was kept in a prison from where he had escaped.

Gambit looked at Law and asked "Mon ami, Will you still be shy and not show your face?"

Law contemplated for a minute whether to show his face and then decided to show it as trust should be both ways.

Law removed his mask, ate a candy and asked both of them "Candy?"

'Jeez, Urahara's obsession with candies has made me like candies too. I hope I don't get diabetic in this life too!' Law thought

"Woah, You are younger than us. How old are you?" Remy said

"17"

"I can't believe the leader of the team I joined is still not at the legal age to have sex." Remy said

"His age doesn't matter to me, since he saved me and has shown me the way to my dreams." Said Emma resolutely.

They went back to New York the same day.

Law decided to teach Emma about how to make a psychic shield for protection of herself and other minds.

This psychic shield can make someone highly resistant to any/all mental intrusion, including psychic or empathic powers, hypnosis, illusions, deception, etc.

This would be helpful for both her and Gambit.

He would also be working on close combat skills of both her and Gambit. Law hoped that with physical training her secondary mutation of Organic diamond form would manifest.

"Boss won't we have other members in our team?" Gambit asked

"No Remy, not now. We don't even have a place of our own yet. We would first need our own base where we will have most of the facilities including training and research facilities. Besides, I am still thinking of who else to ask to join our little team." Law said
