"Hey! Wake up!"

"[System rebooting! Loading... Sudden data analysis interference! Ready, system rebooted!]"

Huh? How did he lose consciousness a moment ago when he was just looking at the sky?

That was the primary thought that came to Jacob's mind as he analyzed his current situation while feeling the cold ground beneath his back. He didn't know much about this world, but what he was certain of was that a main event had to occur for everything to begin. Therefore, it was more likely that he was sent a week before the protagonists of this world.

"I still can't wake up..."

With each passing second, Jacob realized that the situation he found himself in seemed very strange, but it must be the main event. Furthermore, recalling one of the main missions, he had to figure things out with his own abilities.

Every sensation felt real, and aside from the voice of his intelligent assistant, he heard a voice around him that he wanted to listen to.

"Hey... Wake up!"

Feeling a hand approaching to touch his body, Jacob moved his hand towards that figure and held onto it while opening his eyes. His gaze fell upon the source of that voice and discovered it was the same woman who had handed him the broken piece of his Rubik's Cube.

"Ouch!" The woman let out a cry of pain.

"Oh, I'm sorry."

When Jacob realized he was exerting more force than necessary in the wrong situation, he slowly loosened his grip and then stood up from the ground while apologizing. Looking around, he immediately noticed that everything was desolate.

The main event had begun! If he had seven more days than the protagonists, he had to make the most of his situation to increase his chances of survival. But now, there were more interesting things—a place incredibly silent.

In a place where the most people gather in the world, it was completely deserted. There was no trace of life, a quiet place as if it were a desert.

Looking at the girl beside him, Jacob immediately thought she might have an answer, so he began to initiate a conversation. "It seems like the place has changed a lot. Do you know anything more about this situation?"

This whole place was abandoned. Jacob woke up in the same place he had been before and didn't remember how the situation ended up like this. When Jacob looked at his watch, he found it wasn't working, and immediately he knew this wasn't a simple situation.

A world with a 4-star difficulty was truly a place where he could die, so gathering more information to connect his knowledge with this place would be very useful.

It was true that this was very unsettling, but the important thing now was to stay calm. Information can be obtained gradually since time was indefinite now. It wasn't known what else had disappeared, so the first thing to do was to explore the city.

"My phone isn't working either. I woke up a moment ago and don't remember what happened before. I just tried to wake you up when I saw you unconscious on the ground. How could something like this happen?" The woman looked at Jacob, who had been silent until now, examining the surroundings with deep eyes.

"It seems like everything has disappeared, and we don't know to what extent other things have vanished. Considering it's just the two of us in this place, the safest option for both of us is to work together and search for those answers, of course, if you agree."

Jacob looked at this woman who seemed bewildered but not slow. She immediately adapted to the situation and said, "My name is Yuzuha Usagi, what's your name?"

"Jacob Barber, you can call me Jacob without any problem. For now, considering our situation, it's certain that we won't find all the answers that are swirling in our minds, but at least it's logical what we have to focus on at the moment."

Knowing that this situation couldn't be explained by logic, nor could coherent analysis or thinking explain the surroundings, Jacob immediately began to devise a plan to move forward, which included not only his short-term survival.

"Well, we need to start moving!"

"Yes, this place doesn't seem to give us clear answers..."

"[Master, all electronics have been cut off. Due to my system being slightly damaged, there's not much I can do at the moment!]"

"Let's go this way..."

With a nod, Usagi followed Jacob as her gaze scanned the surroundings with the same surprise anyone else would have in their situation.

"Considering that we don't know the situation in other places, we should look for basic resources to move around with greater security," Jacob said as he gathered his things and slowly walked towards a building where there could be useful items.

People had disappeared in the blink of an eye. Considering that this point is one where the most people gather in the world, there was nothing that could assume a real situation, no matter how logical it may be.

So, thinking about the possibilities, a series of questions surged through Jacob's mind like a hurricane. All his senses, thinking abilities, and analysis focused on his situation.

Have animals disappeared along with people? In a situation like this, the smartest thing to do is to search for basic resources while taking into account the primary observation of the surroundings. Acting separately might be faster, but without a clearer understanding of the situation, it was completely disadvantageous to separate from Usagi.

There was no hurry to run. Jacob walked silently and looked into the interiors of buildings and restaurants. From the looks of it, the people inside cars had also vanished. Everything indicated that this situation happened suddenly. So, if they were here, it was possible that other people could have appeared too.

"Well, it seems we won't be able to find out the situation we're in for now. We should consider other factors and move from there. I'm sure we can't be the only ones in this city; it wouldn't make sense. If you and I were in the same place, what factor was taken into account for other people around us not to wake up in the same location?"

Usagi looked at Jacob. This man who seemed to be the same age as her started sharing many things that she hadn't thought of yet, which generated a bit more trust, and she said, "You're right. If we don't know what has happened, we have to prepare ourselves to be in this place for an indefinite time."

Jacob, who heard these words, nodded and felt comforted that at least she had the ability to stay calm in this situation where another person might be crying out of desperation. Now that he thinks about it, she wasn't among the names of the friends who traveled to this world, the protagonists, so having her as an ally would be incredibly useful.

"So, we need to search for food, water, and any signs of life along the way. If we can't get all the answers, as it's evident, this will help us know what to focus on," Jacob said with a calm and perceptive gaze.

"Alright, there are nearby stores; we can check from that point," Usagi said as she led the way forward.

While Usagi was guiding the way to a store to see what items were available and to what extent things had changed, Jacob had a completely different thought. Instead of worrying about whether there are other people, he should be concerned about what these people might be capable of in this situation.

Anywhere, no matter where they are or what situation they face, humans are always the biggest problem when completely outside of a judging system.

Not only could he be unaware of this situation, but if there's someone else who seems to have those thoughts, they will also be seeking answers, and it was more than obvious that not everyone would act in a good manner.

"This is interesting," Jacob said with a slight smile before entering a store.
