Sports Festival Part 4: The Battles Begin.

[Third person POV]

After the 2nd round the students have the chance to rest and eat in the cafeteria, however Todoroki, Midoriya and Bakugo (who was eavesdropping) were in another place.

"So, you brought me here. Now what?" asked Midoriya breaking the silence.

"We should probably eat soon. The cafeteria's gonna be busy. Don't you think?"

The tension was heavy. The reason to why Todoroki is here with Midoriya is because different from canon, Todoroki only sees Kaito as a challenge, he still has Midoriya in high regards for being close to All Might.

The reason he is here is because during the last 10 minutes Midoriya tried to snatch the medal from Todoroki who was over frozen and had to use his "left" to heat himself and repel Midoriya.

'He's all cold intimidation. Way different from Kacchan.'

"I was overwhelmed. And it made me break the promise I made to myself a long time ago." Todoroki says and raises his left hand.

'It would have given him such an advantage to use his left side. And yet... he didn't.' Midoriya.

"None of the freshmen felt it. In that moment, I was the only one who could sense your true power. It reminded me of something...Experiencing All Might's Quirk."

"Oh, yeah? Okay... Is that all?"

"I'm saying...The power coming from you felt the same as All Might's."

Midoriya almost fucks up again but manages to not overreact.

"Midoriya, tell me. Are you really All Might's…secret love child or something?"

Midoriya had a deadpan expression.

"Am I... What?!" He asked amazed.

"I've seen it. You've got All Might in your corner, helping you out."

'Okay. I get why he'd think that. As insane as it sounds.' Midoriya relaxes himself.

"Well, are you?"

"No, not at all, it's kind of complicated, and even if I tell you, you wouldn't believe me so…"

Kaito taught Midoriya how to make believable lies, after months of practice it reached the "good enough" level.

"It's kind of complicated? is interesting wording. It suggests there is something between you two that you're not supposed to talk about."

Still "good enough level" is not for Todoroki. Midoriya was sweating bullets but Todoroki resumed.

"My father is the hero Endeavor. You must've heard of him. Which means you're aware that he's the number-two hero. So, if you're connected to the number-one hero, All Might, in some way...That would mean…that I have even more reason to beat you." Todoroki glares at Midoriya.

"My old man is ambitious. He aims for the top. He used his power to make a name for himself as a hero. But he was never able to best All Might, so the Symbol of Peace is living proof of his failure. He's still at it, though, trying to take down All Might. One way or another."

"I'm not really sure what you're getting at. What are you trying to tell me, Todoroki?" Midoriya asked confused.

"Have you ever heard of...Quirk marriages?"

Midoriya shakes his head.

"They became a problem in the first few generations after superpowers became widespread. There were those who sought out potential mates solely with the intention of creating powerful children. Many people were forced into relationships. They were simply viewed as old-fashioned arranged marriages. But clearly, it was unethical."

"My father has not only a rich history of accomplishments, but plenty of money to throw at his problems He bought my mother's relatives to get his hands on her Quirk. And now he's raising me to usurp All Might."

Midoriya was at shock for that realization.

"It's so annoying. I refuse to be a tool for that scumbag. In every memory of my mother...I only see her crying." Todoroki closes his eyes and recalls his crying mother.

"I remember she called my left side unbearable, before she poured boiling water on my face."

Midoriya's shocked expression became a saddened one.

"The reason I picked a fight with you was to show my old man what I was capable of doing. Without having to rely on his damned fire Quirk. You see, I'm going to show him that I reject his power, and I can take first place without using it."

Midoriya was sad and wanted to ease Todoroki's pain, but he didn't know how.

"You're obviously connected to All Might. Even if you won't tell me about it. But no matter how fiercely you come at me in the future, I will defeat you using only my right side. I can assure you of that. And after you, Kobayashi will be defeated." Todoroki spoke and left.

'So, this is why Todoroki's so focused. He's like a comic book character. A hero with a tragic backstory. Fighting to rise above it.' Midoriya thought.

"Hey, wait!" Midoriya called Todoroki who was leaving.

"I'm only here because others have supported me. I've been really lucky. In fact, I've had even more help since I've come to UA." Midoriya remembers every time he has been helped by someone.

"All Might is constantly saving people with a fearless smile. He's the greatest hero. And I wanna be just like him. In order to do that, I have to be strong enough to become number one. I know my motivation might seem stupid compared to yours. But, still--I can't lose this, either."

"I owe it to everyone who's supported me to try my best. You declared war on Kaito-san earlier. Well, I'll give you mine. I am going to beat you." Midoriya declares to Todoroki. Bakugo leaves and resolves to surpass them.

(Meanwhile in the cafeteria.)

"That was cheating Kaito-chan, ribbit." Tsuyu.

"My cute frog friend, I never broke the rules, ergo, never cheated." Kaito.

"Still, didn't you said that Nezuko wasn't allowed?" Sero.

"I never said that it was throughout the whole competition, its your fault due to being careless."

"Still, a shame that we got eliminated." Shoji.

"Most of you were brainwashed by Shinso, so don't let that hit you so hard." Kaito.

"Wait! That's his quirk! And you didn't tell us!?" Mineta.

"Well, you never asked."

"SCREW YOU!"

"Man! I was just 1 point short to qualify." Kaminari.

"Sorry Kaminari." Sero.

"Nah, no problem, I'm more pissed at myself for losing."

"How about you train your manipulation of electricity, if you fry yourself at 1.3 million volts, then use less." Kaito.

"Maybe I'll do that."

"Lazy-ass." Kaito mutters.

"What is going to be the theme in this last round?" Mina.

"Probably 1v1 battles." Kaito.

"Why do you say that?" Momo.

"The first round was a test of how we, or more specifically you, use your quirks and how trained are our bodies, the second round was a test of teamwork and strategy, so naturally the last thing to test is physical combat."

"I guess that makes sense." Ochaco.

"Anyone knows how the battles will be decided?" Hagakure.

"No idea, regardless I hope all of you give it your all, as your class representative I wont hold back, so prepare yourselves."

Everyone was in high spirits. Mineta and Kaminari tried the "cheerleader" trick on Yaoyorozu and the rest and Kaito had a dilemma.

For one part he could enjoy the view of his favorite frog in the costume, on the other side he could gain points with the girls, and more importantly Tsuyu, it was the hardest choice he could make.

'AH, SCREW IT! My conscience with a Tanjiro complex doesn't allow me to do this.'

Kaito went over to where Mineta, Kaminari, Jiro and Yaoyorozu were standing and grabbed Kaminari and Mineta by the head.

"Now fellas, that's quite the interesting competition, only one problem though, said competition is false." Kaito said grabbing Kaminari and Mineta from their necks.

Yaoyorozu was surprised and Jiro glared at the duo.

"YOU SNITCH! TRAITOR! JUDAS!" Kaminari yelled at Kaito.

"#!#$$#$#$$%#&$#$#" Mineta cursed him so badly that the author refused to write what he said.

"Thanks, Kobayashi-san, without you we almost embarrass ourselves." Momo.

"Yes, good to see that not everyone is a pervert." Jiro said while pointing her plastic knife at the duo.

"You think to highly about me, in reality I wanted to see that but…" Kaito pushed Mineta and Kaminari to the ground, leaving them no escape. He was also blushing after seeing Tsuyu in a nearby table.

Jiro hears Kaito's heartbeat increase and looks where he is looking. She sees Tsuyu and connects the dots.

'So that's how it is.' Jiro thought.

"Either way, thank you, we will report this to the teachers." Momo.

"Oh. Ok, I'll be going then, I have a pile of food to eat." Kaito leaves.

Some teachers take Kaminari and Mineta away and everything goes back to normal. After the normal sports activities the final round begins.

"Welcome back audience!" Midnight.

"During the sports festival we have seen the capabilities of the freshmen, now, its time to see how well they fight in 1v1 combat!"

"This will be the order of the fights." Midnight announces and the screen shows the order of the combats.

Kobayashi Kaito vs Yaoyorozu Momo.

"Brains vs bigger brains and brawn? Interesting." Kaito.

"There goes most of my tactics." Momo.

Todoroki Shoto vs Hanta Sero.

"I knew I was getting a little too lucky." Sero.

'After this, we will battle Midoriya, and you'll be next…Kobayashi.' Todoroki.

Katsuki Bakugo vs Ochaco Uraraka.

"Uraraka?" Bakugo.

"EEEEK!" Uraraka.

Eijiro Kirishima vs Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu.

"HIM AGAIN?! I'M SICK OF HIM!" Said both of them at the same time.

Izuku Midoriya vs Hitoshi Shinso.

'Isn't him the guy from before?' Midoriya.

Shinso smiles.

Iida Tenya vs Mei Hatsume.

"A troublesome opponent." Iida.

"I get to test my babies." Mei.

Fumikage Tokoyami vs Ibara Shiozaki.

"Tis was fated." Tokoyami.

"Oh GOD, allow me to overcome this next challenge."

Mina Ashido vs Neito Monoma.

"HAHAHAHA! Bring it class 1-A! I'll begin with your weak link!" Monoma.

"Oh, I'm going to humiliate him so much, that the shame will follow him even as a pro." Mina.

"In 5 minutes the first match shall begin!"

The crowd cheered from the excitement that the battle will give them. On the other hand, Yaoyorozu was nervous to say the least.

'Kobayashi-san is a powerful opponent, he is fast, strong and smart, he most likely won't have any problem to defeat me, however, I plan to beat him with this strategy.' Thought Momo.

'So, I'm against Momo huh? Never expected this oh well that just shows the power of the butterfly, better get ready, I don't want to cheese my way here.' Kaito picked two saw edged swords and waited in his room.

"OH YEAH! This is the final round of the sports festival and we are cooking with magma baby!" Present-Mic.

"From one side we have one of the recommendation students and heir to the Yaoyorozu corporation: Yaoyorozu Momo!" Momo enters the arena and gazes at the other corner.

"And from this side, a kid that has taken everyone by surprise, the only quirkless student, the top 1 in UA freshmen: Kobayashi Kaito!" Kaito comes out with two swords strapped to his waist.

The two students look at each other and exchange some words.

"I won't allow you to surpass me, Kobayashi-san." Momo.

"Just call me Kaito, and also, I'll slice my way through." Kaito.

"Remember, no serious injuries or you are disqualified." Midnight intervened.

"I know; besides I wouldn't hurt a friend of mine." Kaito smiles.

"Positions, set, BEGIN!" Midnight.

Kaito rushes with his swords and slashes forward, Momo dodges and creates a scythe, she tries to attack Kaito but he crouches and dodge the attack. Momo throws the scythe at Kaito and creates a sword and shield.

'What is she planning, she is consuming all her body fat in objects that won't give her an advantage over me, what is she planning?' Thought Kaito.

The exchange lasts a few more minutes and Kaito decides to end it with the Fourth Fang, suddenly Momo creates a smoke bomb and throws it, the whole platform fills with smoke making it impossible to see a thing.

Kaito uses Spatial Awareness but senses something wrong with his body.

'So that's how you are playing, since it was a nice try, I'll play along.'

The smoke fades away and reveals 2 figures, one standing but exhausted and the other in the floor struggling to move. They were Yaoyorozu and Kaito.

"You used poison!" Kaito said.

Yaoyorozu had a gas mask on her face and then took it off.

"I was worried that you might've found out, or worst yet, decided to end this quickly, but I had enough body fat to make the poisonous capsules after the massive smoke bomb, you lose Kobayashi."

"AMAZING! The first round was won by…" Present-Mic was interrupted when Kaito got up and punched Momo in the gut.

She didn't know what happened, everything was so fast Kaito, who was supposed to be poisoned got up and punched her.

"Oi! Haven't they taught you? The prey should never believe what the hunter says." Kaito stated and threw Momo out of the ring.

"First match winner: KOBAYASHI KAITO!" Midnight declares.

"THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! The one that was losing actually was just pretending?! A commentary mummy-man?" Present-Mic.

"Yaoyorozu lowered her guard, she knew the type of opponent she was fighting, the problem is, that Kobayashi Kaito is an opponent whose limits have never been properly tested by the UA, overall, it was a good makeshift strategy but lacked the stamina to keep it for long." Aizawa commented.

"Since when?" Asked Momo to Kaito.

"I noticed the smell of poison and decided to play along, as to the why I was not affected, I have poison resistance and even antibodies for some types of poison."

"It was a good plan, but you underestimated me the moment you got the upper hand and that ended in your downfall." Kaito concluded.

"I see, good luck Kaito-kun."

"Just call me Kaito. Need help to get to the infirmary?"

"No, thanks, I can get there, although next time restrain yourself a little more."

"Hahaha…. Sorry!"

And with that the 1st combat was over. The second combat was: Todoroki Shoto vs Hanta Sero.

The battle was over in an instant with Todoroki taking the win.

The third battle was Eijiro Kirishima vs Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu. Due to Kaito's interference, Kirishima won the battle, they still had that "manly" moment though.

The next battle was Izuku Midoriya vs Hitoshi Shinso.
