TENSION BETWEEN SIBLINGS 2

TENSION BETWEEN SIBLINGS 2

The tension radiating between Jack and Camily was so palatable, Lily could almost taste it.

The family dinner table was impeccably set with fine dinnerware and silverware. The table linens was high quality, such as embroidered or lace tablecloths or runners. The centerpiece was ornate floral arrangement and candles as decoration, giving the dinner set a royal aura. The dining chairs was luxurious and comfortable.

The table was filled with an abundance of delicious and gourmet food, including appetizers, main course, and desserts. The dishes were elegantly presented, with intricate garnishes and decorations. The food was cooked to perfection and served in generous portions.

The drinks served ranged from high-end wines to cocktails and luxurious spirits.

Rosa called her children to come downstairs and have dinner, it's been long since they ate together as a family and she wanted it to be elaborate and classy. She was happy to watch them eat but the sad gazes Camily was throwing at Jack, while Jack pretended not to see it was making Rosa regret her decision.

She wasn't happy with the tension between her children and needed to start a conversation but she didn't know what to say to start the conversation. Her eyes falling on Lily, "Lily tell us something, anything will be fine."

Lily almost choked on her food, "sorry what!"

Rosa used her eyes to gesture, pointing to Jack and Camily.

Lily laughed akwardly, "Rat."

Jack and Camily stopped eating and looked at Lily quizzically.

"Why rats?" Camily asked.

"I read this article about how rats are actually very smart animals. They can learn how to solve puzzles and even play games," Lily explained, hoping this would steer the conversation away from the tension between Jack and Camily.

Rosa smiled, "That's very interesting Lily. I never knew that about rats before."

Lily closed her eyes as the wave of humiliation washed over her, not only did the tension not waver, she embarrassed herself.

Jack cleared his throat, he wanted to ask his sister about her kids and her husband, but he withheld himself.

The atmosphere in the room grew more tense, Lily couldn't bear it anymore, she felt akward. She dropped the cutleries on her plate and stood up, she smiled and said, "it's been a lovely dinner but I will like to retire back to my room."

Rosa smiled, giving her approval, knowing fully well that Lily was uncomfortable.

When Lily got to the room, she let out a sigh of relief as she fell on the bed.
